First time visiting this establishment and saw the rating so I was kinda nervous to get treatment here. I had a broken tooth that needed to be removed so I went here to have it taken out. I set an appointment ahead of time so when I arrived for the appointment I didn't have to wait too long to be seen which was nice. However, did take a minute after being seated in a private room to see the actual doctor. But I understood how busy it was. At the end of my exanimation, they told me I needed more work done. I needed three extractions and two fillings which I didn't deem unnecessary so I believed their diagnosis to be truthful. Plus they give you a receipt for your charges. And a free charge for your x-ray and exam. They set up my next appointment which was gonna be scheduled for the Oct 28th. My first appointment with them was on October 9th. I was a bit disappointed since the broken tooth I had was causing me a great deal of pain. The general manager there was very nice and helpful in letting me know if anyone else canceled they made sure to let me know so we could do the extractions sooner. Plus, the doctor who did my extractions was very nice and welcoming. She was very patient with me considering I'm a big baby when it comes to the dentist. Luckily, I got a call two or three days after my first appointment saying they could take me in on Oct 11th. So I was very fortunate that someone canceled and how fast they reached out to me to book me on that day. My extractions were painless and not as scary as I thought it was gonna be. Overall, I recommend coming here since the staff were nice and respectful. read more

This is the second review I've written in my life and I'm doing it because I hope it helps people in pain that are in need of dental care and desperate. It's very easy to be taken advantage of when you are vulnerable. I feel bad for the people that have put all their time in to become dental assistants, hygienists and dentists and are taught these horrible measures of trying to scam people. Thrown away are the professional dreams of working in the medical field as you are now ingrained to be hacks for a company whose internal plan is to rip people off! Your office was very unprofessional and the dentist treats you like a child that doesn't know how to take care of their teeth, told me 3 times to "brush twice a day" LOL!! The hygienist reading off numbers like crazy, trying to figure out which teeth were real and giggling with the assistant was a joke! There was no way she could've diagnosed such an "extensive problem" in 1 minute while barely even looking in my mouth and laughing hilariously about some private secret! The problem I came in for was shoved aside since there wasn't really a problem with the tooth and sights were set on getting me a 3 piece bridge which involved ruining 2 good molars and which I had never even inquired about among another expensive invasive treatment which I was told was the "only option" involving an expensive round of antibiotics. I went to another dentist immediately after them and he told me my teeth have none of the problems that you "found" just a small filling. Your practice tried to get me for $5000 worth of unnecessary work, It's no wonder if you Google "Aspen Dental deep cleaning scam" hundreds of things come up. There's an article on Mlive about 3 Grand Rapids offices (one of them yours) and Massachusetts has a $3.5 million settlement for paying back people that have been scammed among hundreds of complaints. Stop this and be good and honest in your field that you once cared deeply about and were ambitious enough to get where you are at, you will make more money in the long run and can live with a clear conscience and hope karma doesn't bite you in the ass for trying to take advantage of people in need of dental care and in pain that are less fortunate and not rich! not a very clean environment. I had an appt for an impression and it was canceled on their part and rescheduled . fine let me reroute my week yet when I went in the tech was complaining to another in front of me about being double scheduled and how she was going to have to stay late. I felt so unwelcome. just wanted to ask her how she received a pay check... oh yes us The customers. very fraudulent give you a print out with what you will pay then after you pay tell you they don't give you the information of more charges to come for permanent partials as we were under the impression the ones on our bill were permanent not temporary charged for a specialist and anesthesia never needed it but still owe $2020 more for permanent partials after already paying $3600 for four teeth pulled two cleanings and two partials claimed we had Medicare dental coverage for $3000 only had coverage for a few hundred that they knew about but did not disclose it so we would be on the hook for it NEVER go there! They lie!!! Then wanted to charge on our care credit account for partials to be permanant ridiculous fleecing of their clients! read more

I scheduled a standard cleaning appointment but when I arrived I was told that there were no Dental Hygienists on staff (really?) to clean my teeth. I was rescheduled to another location and when I arrived there I was told that there were no Dental Hygienists available to clean my teeth. Don't shrug the bad reviews. read more

I am here visiting from California for a family funeral and needed a new temporary tooth (flipper) ASAP! Everyone from the dental assist to the office manager, and dentist and lab tech bent over backwards to make sure I have a front tooth for the visitation and funeral. If I lived in GR, this is where I would chose to get all of my dental care. Overall, I have had an excellent experience! I tried to schedule a tooth cleaning multiple times within the past year, each time they cancel it last minute because they don't have enough people available. The last time this happened they called while I was working but didn't leave a message, so I arrived at my appointment only to be told that they had canceled it and that I need to reschedule. I get that staffing has been difficult during the pandemic but at least give me a week or two of notice beforehand if you know you won't have enough people for that day. Also very frustrating because each time this happens I receive the "please confirm your appointment" email beforehand and they only call after ive confirmed im coming to it which is very misleading to believe im going to be going to my appointment only to be called a day later and be told i need to reschedule. They even still send out the "your appointment is coming up in a day!" email even after they've already called and told me they're canceling the appointment. I've taken multiple days of PTO for these appointments to try to fit them into my busy schedule, only to be disappointed with no clean teeth for a solid year. Ridiculous. read more

First, I'd have to say that the staff are nice. Maybe not the most professional setting but it will do. From my experience, Aspen Dental requires their offices to charge you (and your insurance) for every little thing they can come up with during your visit. I had unnecessary pre consultation procedures which included a x ray of every single tooth, and weird 3D bite diagram all before I could simply ask a question. Only afterwards, and waiting a hour, was I told i'd have to come back in to see the Dentist when he was back in town. If you have insurance - keep in mind that you're probably only covered for a set of xrays every 5 years. I did schedule my next appointment - which was simply to have bonding replaced on a tooth. The reason I wanted the bonding replaced was because it was starting to turn grey. No one wants a dead looking front tooth, right? So, I express this admittedly - The color, I want it redone bc I want the color to match the rest of my teeth. No problem! After the procedure was done - HUGE problem! I fought back every tear and cuss word and stormed out. My "new" bonding was brown and smaller than any tooth in my head. They said, "this is the lightest shade we had" after the fact. AFTER??!! I now sport a fancy looking brown tiny tooth right in front. They said, well, you should have a whole crown. NO! I had bonding on that tooth for 20 years with no issue other than slight discoloration over time. And now, it's horrific. I'm embarrassed and refrain from smiling. To top it off (though, I was warned before hand) the bonding chipped 20 mins after I left the office. When that happened, I went to the bathroom and noticed not only did the bonding chip but a small portion of my tooth next to it chipped. A tooth that had no work done on it. I did write a letter requesting all, of not a portion of a refund because this was unacceptable. That refund hasn't happened. I was basically told, we told you you should have gotten a crown and that I didn't say anything when I left. I didn't say anything at that time because I was mortified and had to go to work. Where I'm in front of people and have to smile...and not cry. I found a new dentist - but i'm out on the xrays and will also have to pay out of pocket to have the bonding replaced as well. Oh yeah, and humiliated every day until I'm able to have this corrected. Huge lesson learned. Don't go to a drive by dentist if you have insurance. Demand that you know upfront what will take place and how much it will cost before slapping down a co payment and your insurance card. Big red flag was that they required me to pay 1/2 up front (before scheduling the appointment with the dentist) and THEN paying the remainder PRIOR to being taken back to have the bonding replaced. They got all their money and I was the pooch that was screwed! Brown tooth and all! Pics might not look all that bad but you can certainly tell that one of these things is not like the others. read more

Awful awful awful. I was waiting in the chair for about a half an hour for a hygienist and I asked to use the bathroom. I left, and my fiancé heard them talking about me and laughing behind my back. Never even got my teeth cleaned because they kept bringing in different people. Completely unprofessional setting. Never going back. I'll just wait until I'm back home to get my teeth cleaned by real dentists. read more

The overall experience was good. I had only a short wait, everyone was friendly and treated me well from start to finish. They recommended treatments and gave me various options that better suited my budget. In the end, I was left with a fresh, clean mouth. If I was being picky, I'd say they were so busy, it felt like everyone was in a rush, but they made time for me anyways. Some of the equipment wasn't perfect looking either. Had 2 teeth extracted on Friday. The dentist told me they came out easily. There were no stitches put in and they told me to just take ibuprofen and Tylenol. I've had teeth extracted before by oral surgeons and I've always had stitches put in, at least 5 days worth of prescription painkillers and a mouth rinse to help with healing. Here, after asking, I got a RX for 2 days of Tylenol 3 and nothing else. I've been rinsing with saltwater at least 4x a day and taking more ibuprofen and regular Tylenol than I'm comfortable with. I called to ask for a refill on the Tylenol 3 and also told them I still have bits of tooth left and they told me to wait a few days and see if it got better. Then call if I need a follow up appointment. The only reason I went there in the first place was because I couldn't get in with an oral surgeon without a reference from a dentist first. Just moved to the area and didn't have one yet. I'm in so much pain and have never felt like this after an extraction before! read more

I remember some time ago when the radio waves were literally peppered with Aspen ads. Presently I cannot recall the very last time I even heard a single radio commercial about this place. And judging from the very negative reviews locally (and other states), I say avoid this place. I too had a first experience here, over a year ago. This place was like something out of a bad movie. I couldn't believe it. I went there one day with a pain in one tooth. I couldn't get in to see my normal dentist. They took a full set of ex rays. Why a full set I don't know. any way I could see on ex ray that I had an abscess with the tooth. The dentist seemed nice enough but said he would pull the tooth rite then. I have some medical knowledge and said 'no you will not'. You will write me a prescription for an antibiotic and I would come back in a week after the infection was gone. He asked me if penicillin was ok with me. Knowing I didn't take many antibiotics in the past so I didn't have an immunity to antibiotics i said yes. I asked him to write me something for the pain. He said he would write me one for Motrin. I thought he was joking. Knowing that Motrin is just ibuprofen and I can get that over the counter I thought wow, this guy knows nothing, Anyway, At check in I said I would pay for the extraction then and wouldn't need to deal with it the following week. Big mistake on my part. I left and picked up the penicillin, a seven day coarse and didn't bother with the Motrin and just picked up a bottle of ibuprofen a 200 mg. bottle for a whopping 88 cents at Walmart. By the next week the infection was gone so I returned for the extraction. When I called the week before I was asked if there was any question I might have before I left and I told them at that time that I liked Gas and lots of it. I have always had gas when ever I see me dentist not because of fear of any discomfort, but because it just makes for a much more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Anyway the girl told me they would talk about that when I came back in a week. So on my return visit I got in the chair and they tried to take my blood pressure. That was an array of comedies in itself. Three people and three different B.P. cuffs they still couldn't get a reading.I asked them if they just had a regular sphygmomanometer to take it. They looked confused. Knowing from my own knowledge that the type of B.P.cuffs they used were fairly new to the market and were not very dependable. So I said at least put me on the gas while they were wasting time. Because this went on for at least fifteen minutes. At that time I was told they don't use gas. Again I thought they were joking, but no... they were not. At one point I was even asked if i even had a heart. As I was answering the dentist One short fat bitchy girl Rudely Interrupted me and told me the stop talking because that was way they couldn't get a reading. Knowing that had no effect on B.P. I put her strait into the moron category. maybe if I pissed of and screaming at the top off me lungs it might but not just setting there having a conversation. The dentist then said "we can't get a reading because blood pressure is too high'. Taking my own B.P. twice a day on my own and had just taken it that very morning I knew it was fine and that no kind of a doctor can tell your P.B. was to high by without getting a reading.I mean, Come on... That's when I had enough. I pulled off the bib put on the chair and said I would pull the tooth myself before I would let them do any work on me. On my drive home I just couldn't shake The feeling that I just exited the Twilight Zone. Two days latter I got into see my normal Dentist And told them of my experience. They said it not the first time they were told bad things about that place, and that they were told they had a big turn over in help. It must be the good once leave and the bad ones stay. I was so much in a hurry I didn't stop to ask for a refund. I just wanted to leave the Twilight Zone and get that horror story behind me. It was worth loosing the hundred and fifty dollars I paid up front just to escape that nightmare. Take it from me, spend a little more and see a real professional. You'll be so much more better off. This story would be better suited for a Ripley's believe or not book then a review page. Oh... In closing, I took my blood pressure that day when I got home and it was normal. read more
