I came to Aspin after a family member told me how wonderful they were. I have been to your Hixson office. After having a tooth pulled, I was asked to go over the financial plan. During my visits management changed, front staff was less than professional. Procedures were being done while there was a gaping hole in the roof. Needless to say, not sanitary. This let me to getting an infection. Then I get a notice from the "finance company" I was sticker shocked. I called Billing who informed me my insurance was inactive. I informed them it was not. She Proceeded to tell me My employer probably didn't renew my insurance. or their software showed it wrong. I called my Insurance company, and I was Active and the office didn't file the claim. I called back and spoke to the new office Manager and stated how unhappy I was. She said she would cancel all future appointments. I just got an email about an upcoming appt. I had to call to cancel it. I do not recommend them to anyone. read more

Like another reviewer, I've had mostly good but lately bad experience. The equipment and care and people are nice and up-to-date. Last year I was blindsided after getting my teeth cleaned with a $2000 . It was explained that I needed cleaning, but that was not explained before I had the treatment. Well, I had the money so I paid it. I had another cleaning or two after that and all was fine until yesterday. When I checked in, she said it would be $350 because it couldn't pull up my Blue Cross on their computer, but, "we may reimburse you some of that in the future. She acted almost like I wasn't in their computer system and wanted to see my Blue Cross card again?! And then said she couldn't up in her system to verify the service. Not only that, but my appointment was at 10 AM and they called and said can you come 8 AM? Being a nice guy I said OK treated like this. I'll never go back. Perhaps this is really first as a business to make money in secondarily to provide excellent dental service, but this is no way to treat a been with them for . I started going to Aspen Dental this year and so far I am very happy with them. I have extreme dental anxiety and going to Aspen has started to lessen that anxiety. Everyone there is so friendly and competent. I understand no one likes going to the dentist, but I am still surprised their ratings are so low. I wish I'd checked Yelp before I went to this practice. I got regular dental care before my move to this area. Called to arrange a cleaning (I was due) and they set up appointment. Come to find they don't do cleanings on first appointment but do assessment only, XRays, exam, gum measurements (all things that my previous dentist did). They decided I needed deep gum cleaning that cost ~ $500 after insurance and visits every 3 months! I decided I just wanted to start with a basic cleaning & polishing (covered by insurance). They refused to do this and insisted I pay the $500, rather than at least provide basic care. So I left. I agree 100% with other reviews that this office is set up to push procedures for profits. Don't recommend. Now I need to get my records from them so I can visit a new dentist that will work with me. read more

They left me waiting in waiting room over an hour to talk to some in billing. After a visit they did X-rays then went over cost . My insurance had changed I called billing they told me to bring in New cards . I talked to insurance company they said all my dental was covered . I took new cards set in lobby finally just left after an more than an hour waiting . They said someone would call me nobody did . I called billing again the girl gave me out of pocket quote higher than the first one . She said she would have a manager over billing call me back . Never heard nothing . I called again put on hold after 30 min. on hold it disconnected. I called and ask for a copy of X-rays so my insurance don't have to pay for them again . I was told she was very busy but would send them by email before the end of the day . Didn't get those either . I have another appointment for a different dentist where my insurance pays all like it's suppose to be I just want my X-rays that are already paid for . They tell you whatever they can come up with to put you off then they don't respond to you anymore just ignore you leave you sitting on the phone or in their lobby until you finally give up I guess . read more

My experience with Aspen I thought I would be going to get the best service I am just thankful I didn't get anymore work done after them trying to make me pay everything out of my pocket.the nurse at the front desk was rude she said you can't come back in here unless you pay out of your pocket for everything.this story could go on but I am going to end here. read more

After almost 6 months since my appointment I'm getting a $300+ bill despite being told I owed nothing before I left the appointment. I am very disappointed, the level of customer service from staff is great but getting a bill 4+ months after the fact is not. Especially when they told me I was all set and owed nothing at the time of the appointment. This is shady billing practices and I intend to argue the bill. **Update: their corporate numbers NEVER ANSWER! You stay on hold for 10+ minutes. This company is disgusting in their customer service level. They need to eat the cost of this 4-month late $300 bill, and I'd like a formal apology from their corporate office. I've had good and bad experiences with Aspen Dental as a whole. Each location is different. Each location treats people differently. The Gunbarrel/Hamilton Place location was amazing & they made me feel right at home. They took great care of me! The Ooltewah location is different. I believe her name was "DOCTOR Jones" as she said pretty repeatedly. This "doctor Jones" went to look in my mouth & acted as if she didn't want to actually touch me or something. Like I was some gross, insignificant spec that didn't really matter. So instead of giving me the run down on my teeth and what was going on, on this particular day, and she said I had a tooth that needed to come out but I would have to come right back the next morning and have it removed. So I pretty much wasted my entire morning going all the way out there to be told something is wrong with my teeth (obviously) and just wanted us to make another appointment to take more of my money. My daughter recently transitioned from her pediatric dentist due to her turning 18 and she needed her semi annual exam and cleaning. They only performed an exam and xray and did not clean her teeth. They diagnosed her with an early stage disease in which 6 months ago when she last saw her pediatric dentist (where she she was a patient since 1 year old) never seen on their X-rays. I asked others about their experience and everyone said the same thing they never provide you with what you came in for and you end up walking out with a treatment plan. I would not recommend nor will go back . This practice should be for emergency dental care only. read more

It's not the individuals in Chattanooga alone they are On by third parties, that aren't even in the dental field. The staff, including the hygienist, and the lady that sells you the services crowns removal dentures etc. The dentist, all of the above are paid on commission that means they saw you services That is related to your dental health and that is how they take a paycheck home other than that they are also fraudulent they committed crime against me, I have permanent nerve damage in my face preventing me from smiling correctly. They won't reimburse me or my insurance so that I can go to another dentist. They accidentally drilled a hole in the roof of my mouth into my sinus cavity and they also removed teeth that were not needed to be removed. They do not call you back. They harassed me they lie. They have no respect for people. They will commute in there with open arms, but then they deny you the etiquette and just calm and bedside manner or decency, that anybody working in healthcare, or as a service provider should ever. The whole place every person from the reception is on up is really Morley and professionally a disaster who would work for such a company. They are affiliated with several large organizations so that prevents people from suing them. However, I will sign ticket. I will contact people across the board and I will start my own class action lawsuit. read more

I went there in 2022, due to a broken tooth. They gave me a crown and also told me about gum disease, which I thought was funny because my dentist in Upstate, NY didn't say anything. I got the crown and the gum treatment. The tooth the crown was done on bothered me quite a bit. The dentist filed it down a little and felt better. I ended up getting a large lump on my gum by that tooth. The dental hygienist put some liquid anti-biotics in the gum area. Still had problems. They took ex-rays and said I had an infection below the tooth. The dentist (not the one who did the crown) said some bacteria probably got into the gum when the crown was being done. Now I have to either get a root canal or loose the tooth. I called and asked to speak with a manager, they gave me a receptionist (manager wouldn't speak with me) who was rude and insulted me. I told them this was not my fault and I feel they ought to pay for the root canal or tooth pull (and new tooth). She first said it was because I wasn't practicing good dental hygiene. I told her that I brush and floss 3 times a day. She said she would have the Dr. call me. When I called again, she said the Dr. said that it wasn't their fault that bacteria can get into the gum. Well, I am not at the point of getting a lawyer and suing them for malpractice. They rip people off by telling them they have gum disease and have to go every 3 months, then every 4 months. I will never step foot in that place again and I recommend nobody else does. read more

Horrible experience my mother had a complete set of dentures done. Nightmare started in April. Made impression of old dentures. Paid 1300 dollars upfront. Drove 45 minutes the next to find out computers and phones were hacked. Now in July mom is out 2700 hundred dollars. No dentures and a bill for 2000 dollars remaining to be paid.? read more

My wife Quentin had a denture done.. she told me this is the most painless dentist she has ever seen. They had a decent financial plan, her denture is going to cost $3,500 which we can pay over a period of 4 years. We did not fly shop or look around, this was something she decided on and she's been needing it for years. So I cannot tell you how the prices here compared to other What Aspen Dental offered for us worked within our budget. You may or may not have similar results elsewhere. read more

Terrible customer service. The office staff and manager will try and bully you. They basically lie to you and try to make you think your teeth are about to fall out to get you to pay for $$$$ preventive treatments. Pretty shady business practices. I have several negative comments to say but I will focus on this first. I have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth after having braces for years. The hygienist forced dental floss through my teeth that popped off my retainer from several of my teeth teeth. Now my teeth have slid out of place. I told the hygienist and dentist that it felt out of place and they didn't do anything about it. I gave them a second chance after this, and when I came back they told me it wasn't time for a cleaning & my insurance would not pay. They made the appointment, it was not my fault they scheduled it too soon. While I was in the chair with the hygienist, the receptionist came back and had the audacity to ask me to pay out of pocket for my visit. I said no you all made the appointment not me. They didn't bill me or my insurance for that visit but all the hygienist did was floss my teeth, I never saw a dentist that day. Later they claimed you only see a dentist once a year with them. Everywhere else I've always been the dentist checks on you every visit. read more

Ok first off, I have to say I'm a bit surprised by the other 1 star reviews here. I did pay cash so didn't have to deal with the dental loans or any sort of payment issues. They were very clear about what I owed and worked with me to give me an affordable price. Every one was friendly and polite. Dr. Thompson is very easy to talk to and I would highly recommend her as a dentist. The hygienist Ashley is also excellent and does a thorough job explaining everything and being careful to make sure I was comfortable. I almost gave this review 4 stars. The front office staff could be a bit friendlier and more courteous on the phone and in person. Going to the dentist can be traumatic and it's nice to feel welcomed in enthusiastically each time. They are all good people, but it's nice to feel like they are going out of their way a little more. read more

This is the worst place I have ever been and will never return again..when you go in they upscale everything ..they ask if I wanted a cancer screen for 30.00 extra dollars ..I ask well I've never smoked do I need one she said yes ...she ran her finger around my mouth and looked inside ..I promise 15 seconds if that and said no everything looks fine ..for 30.00 Next they did a cleaning under the gums told me I needed it and charged me $ 507.00 for what they called a treatment plan ...after all that they sent me home with a bottle of liquid that cost 149.00 and a oral b brush system ...that was the treatment plan ...they are rip offs beware they are out to get every cent they can from you ..for stuff you don't even need ...it's a shame ...I told everyone in my office to go somewhere else.. read more

I'm surprised by the bad reviews here. Last week was my first time to a dentist in almost 6 years. (Due to Insurance complications) and it was great. Staff was great, hygienist was great, and Dr. Marinello was very kind. I got exactly what I went for. The ONLY complaint I would have, and it's nothing major, are the wait times. It seems like they overbook and Dr. Marinello was frantic all over the office. I went for a checkup and was there almost 3 hours. If they cut back on booking a tad, it would have been perfect. 4/5 though! read more

DON'T GO HERE! Aspen Dental is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life! They over book every single day so that every appointment that you have takes two hours. I had the worst dental experience I can remember at this dentist's office today. When I complained I was treated as if I were the offender. They were making a mold for a dental appliance, but the mold tray was so overfilled that it oozed into my throat and partially blocked my airway. It was HORRIBLE and scary! I relocated to Chattanooga 6 years ago and needed a dentist for myself and my family . Aspen in Hixson was my first stop and it was by far the worst experience we have ever had ! From the office staff to the dentist ..... terrible! The office staff is not very friendly or compassionate and neither was the dentist. It felt like a " factory" . I have never been to a dental office that wouldn't fill a cavity because I wouldn't sign up for the 750$ out of pocket periodontal work they said I needed. Only to go to a different dentist and be told I didn't need that treatment anyway ! Again terrible experience for myself and my kids! Would NOT recommend this office at all. read more

Dr. Thompson and Ashley (hygienist) were both great, no complaints with them at all (very nice and informative). Only reason this is not a 5 star rating (and the reason I won't likely be back) is for misleading website prices and me having to have a moderately uncomfortable conversation with the office people to get prices reduced. Website says basic cleaning is $68 + $19 for exam and X-rays. I was fine with that, but because I have mild gingivitis (almost all of my teeth are level 2 and 3, I had two teeth that were a 4 - whereas 1-2 is normal, 3-4 is mild gingivitis, level 4-5 is moderate to severe gingivitis and 6 or higher is full-on periodontitis). They told me they had to do a "deeper cleaning" and charge me $124 for this (which I had to negotiate down just to get that price), plus the $19 for the exam/xrays. They wanted to have me back in 2 weeks for the polish and regular cleaning which would cost and additional $68 (PLUS $40 for the polish). This is included at a lot of dentists I've been to. Overall: great people, above average prices. You'll get good service here, but don't go in expecting to save money if you are self-pay. read more

Apparently, you can no longer get affordable goods with GOOD service. I've lived in Chattanooga for approximately 9 months and have been treated with the best customer service I've ever had....until this office. The Business Office Manager treated me like a $4000 patient they just didn't need. That seemed to be the gist of the excuses she gave me when I first called twice about the loan I was approved for, and never got a return call, and then stopping into the office to get my 2 very simple questions answered. As I watched her answer and help other customers, after knowing I had asked for help first. When she finally came back to me I was told I was going to have to wait again and to have a seat. I said ' nevermind just cancel the loan, and started to walk out the door. Instead of handling the matter by maybe calling me sometime in the near future, she decided to stop me and give me a list of the reasons why she couldn't help me. 1) she was at lunch 2) I didn't have an appt 3) she had other patients. If that had all been told to me prior to her asking me 'how may I help you' or had returned one of my two messages I had left for her the previous day....maybe this could have been avoided. When I asked her why she couldn't return 1 of my two messages she responded 'well, I only got one of them' . That was it for me. Aspen doesn't need your money, folks. Pay higher, get treated better. read more

End result not happy. I was diagnosed with advanced peridontal disease and they pulled 3 teeth Monday July 22 2019. Today, July 24, I asked them to prescribe to me an antibiotic by phone. They said I needed to wait a week referring to pain. I went to the office, some lady, was gonna check things out.. Lol. She didn't have a clue what was going on. I explained to her.. Then she asked if I had came in for pre op on Tues after I told her I was there Monday. She kept asking if I smoked after removal of teeth AFTER I told her I had QUIT 9 days ago. The kicker, she asked if I was taking my antibiotics. So i have to explain to her AGAIN that wanting antibiotics was why I was sitting there in the 1st place. I wasn't asking for pain meds, I was asking for an antibiotic. At first I felt positive about going there, my friend had problems with them and her dentures. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Until today. I will never go back there. They have some outrageous fees to. Try talk you into buying so much. Yes I am a bit disgruntled.. Sometimes its hard to deal with ppl like that. I usually do not complain publicly about ppl either. The ignorance I had to deal with today was so out of this world. read more

I was nervous about going to a dental chain but I was pleasantly surprised. Ben did a great job with the x-rays. I told him I usually got scraped by the film so he took extra care. Ashley the hygienist answered all sorts of my questions. Dr. Thompson & Alisha replaced my filling quickly. The insurance lady let me know up front how much things would cost.
