Earlier this year, the Covenant Health Hospital in Hobbs, NM, took good care of my dad after some issues I'd rather not get into because it's his business. I was actually impressed with the communication all of his health care team had been providing him with. They even allowed my mom (who is also technically elderly) to stay the night in his room and visit him whenever she could. I met a couple of the nurses that had been taking care of him and they were all courteous and professional. THANK YOU! Today, Friday, December 13, 2024, I had a somewhat last-minute mammogram yet again at this facility. Once again I was seen by the fabulous radiologic technologist, Sarah. Check-in with the security guard went smooth. As did with two other employees. (The second employee I saw re-registered me with the hospital and the third communicated to my tech that I had arrived.) The facility is still clean and well-maintained. I enjoy going here for my mammograms because it's simple, quick, clean, and painless - but I should note I have an overall high pain threshold. If you do not tolerate pain, just say that - they will take measures to be as gentle as possible. The time that I entered the mammography room to exiting out of the hospital was probably not even 15 minutes. Glad my doctor referred me here again because now we have comparisons from last year... plus Sarah was great! TIP Don't be hesitant or fearful about getting your boobs squished. The reason given for lack of attentiveness, untimely routines, and staffing errors was repeatedly "short staffed or I just started." Please do an extensive on site visit before placing your loved ones here. My mother regretted her decision from the moment she arrived to the last hour on site. The fact that the administrator never personally addressed our concerns is interpreted as her drawing a paycheck in a position she does not deserve. We only witnessed her once assisting her under staffed day shift and never witnessed her on site during the start of evening shift. I do not kniw if the person making medical decisions was ever present. My mom has no recollection of anyone introducing themselves as the person making decisions about her care. We heard many care staff referencing texting the person for assistance with medication and other treatment questions. Look elsewhere!

That would be Miranda Young, CFNP who now sees patients at Women's Care Clinic of Lea County. I had a routine checkup on 11/15/2023 that was scheduled only about a week in advance. If you appreciate health care professionals with good bedside manners, you will love Miranda (as she introduced herself). I appreciated her taking the time to answer questions about me being "high risk" due to my age when it comes to a possible future pregnancy. Also while there she ordered me a mammogram. The facility where it will be scheduled me for this Monday. I have always had to wait weeks and sometimes months for an appointment when I lived in California. This place still has some of the nicest staff in Hobbs, NM. They use an online portal for reviewing the nurse practioner's and her nurse's notes from your visit. I love it because I get to review them the same day. Per usual procedure at this OB/GYN, I was required to submit a urine sample to check for pregnancy. Even though I know I wasn't. Lol. I guess there are cases where women can't tell. My advice is to arrive well-hydrated - don't use the restroom before you head there. Overall, I continued to be impressed with their clinic's cleanliness. Sometimes getting an appointment here & finding the facility were the only pitfalls. This office is behind the old Lea Regional Hospital (as it was referred to as when I was born there) - close to the emergency helipad. Highly recommended.

She also went out of her way to let me know the best times to see her for urgent care as a walk-in during the week. For the most part, her nurses are respectful, communicative, and passionate about what they do. My daughters are both established with Dr. Mutakani. She is an equally excellent doctor! My daughters really enjoy being around Dr. M because she is a people person & has a positive attitude every time - wellness checkup or sick visit. Her clinic is just down the hall from my primary physician. They tend to take a bit longer to get to patients, but I think it's because children need just a bit more time to get diagnosises and remedies right. Her nurses have been easy to get along with as well. The urgent care program is basically the same process as being seen as an appointment patient. I saw Dr. K today, September 11, 2024, as a walk-in. She treated me for a very painful sinus infection. I highly suggest walking in at 7AM if you need to be seen. After about 11AM the doctors get way too busy with appointments and other duties. The in-house lab is also great. They work fast and all have positive attitudes. The parking lot is a bit funky. The place is kept clean & security guards are always on duty.
