Earlier this year, the Covenant Health Hospital in Hobbs, NM, took good care of my dad after some issues I'd rather not get into because it's his business. I was actually impressed with the communication all of his health care team had been providing him with. They even allowed my mom (who is also technically elderly) to stay the night in his room and visit him whenever she could. I met a couple of the nurses that had been taking care of him and they were all courteous and professional. THANK YOU! Today, Friday, December 13, 2024, I had a somewhat last-minute mammogram yet again at this facility. Once again I was seen by the fabulous radiologic technologist, Sarah. Check-in with the security guard went smooth. As did with two other employees. (The second employee I saw re-registered me with the hospital and the third communicated to my tech that I had arrived.) The facility is still clean and well-maintained. I enjoy going here for my mammograms because it's simple, quick, clean, and painless - but I should note I have an overall high pain threshold. If you do not tolerate pain, just say that - they will take measures to be as gentle as possible. The time that I entered the mammography room to exiting out of the hospital was probably not even 15 minutes. Glad my doctor referred me here again because now we have comparisons from last year... plus Sarah was great! TIP Don't be hesitant or fearful about getting your boobs squished. Just go here if you get the recommendation!

That being said, I was not aware that I owed the attending ER physician for her services until a collection appeared on my credit report. They had sent bills to an address I have not used in half a decade, nor did they apply the bill to my BCBS-NM insurance. Strange way of billing me. Apparently, the hospital does not share (did not, will not, not sure) accurate billing information with their own ER physicians group as I did receive my hospital bill at the correct address with the insurance correctly applied. If you find yourself in the ER at Lea Regional, make sure to get phone numbers of all billing entities prior to your departure and call them a month later or they will make your life a living hell as they have for me. Better yet, keep trucking up the road to Lovington and go to Nor-Lea. They operate under a Quality Management System (Malcolm Baldrige -- Quality New Mexico) and these kinds of amateur mistakes do not happen.

The last time I went, they did not tell me that I fractured my toe, I had to find out via my pcp. Along with this, they diagnosed me with an UTI and they did not even prescribe antibiotics.

The ER doctor on duty that day, (a doctor not recognized), said that I needed EMERGENCY surgery, so the 'smart' doctor sent me to the local airport within minutes so I could take an emergency flight to El Paso's 'Del Sol' hospital for immediate kidney stone surgery. I was able to walk, and when I was stepping off the medical aircraft, a King Air, I twisted my knee very badly on the aircraft stairs. That knee pain remains to this day, December 2025. Once at the third world hospital of Del Sol, I had to wait for three hours before anyone even noticed me. I was without pain and very upset that not even a nurse checked on me. I walked out of that hospital and walked to the William Beaumont VA hospital a few miles away. There, the doctors could not understand why AGH would think I needed emergency surgery. WB VA Hospital sent me home with good pain meds and that was it. After doing a search, I found a good urologist in Roswell, NM who treated my kidney stones and was excellent with a diagnosis and management. AGH was very wrong in wasting my time and money sending me to El Paso to the worst, and dirtiest hospital in El Paso, Del Sol Hospital. The ER at AGH need to make note of this. JMO

Dr Patrick Connor, Chad and Rick (both RNs) were beyond kind, knowledgeable, and provided the best quality of care. They took us back immediately and had several staff with us at all times. They were able to get us in and out quickly so we could resume our family vacation. As an ER nurse myself, I was worried about how quickly we would get seen and able to get back on the road.
