awful awful experience, this is going to be a pretty long review but I had one heck of a time getting my teeth so let me break it down. I don't have much money so I have to be really strategic about how I do things. I found a dentist in Menomonee falls who would finance me for all my extractions in January of 2023 so I went for it and got all of my upper teeth pulled, and all but 8 pulled from my lower jaw. I got no immediate denture and went for the next year eating softer foods using only those few teeth and my gums, it was hard but I made it work. In January of 2024 I took out an FSA through work and made my appointment for aspen dental to finally get dentures. my first appt was around January 7th so we did the exam and came into the office to make a payment plan. We wound up financing through HFD, and signed up for their in house insurance thing to offset the cost of the exams. now a few important bits of information: 1.) I was 100% not covered by insurance 2.) When I signed up I asked "this is 100% taken care of now? I'm paid in full?" and was told "yes" 3.) I paid 600$ to aspen dental, and made a 600$ deposit to HFD for the financing 4.) finally the exam found I needed a deep cleaning, a full upper, and 2 fillings so I could support a lower partial denture everything went fine until impressions, I got the cleanings, the fillings, and when I went in for impressions/bite blocks i was told they just lost their on site tech so it would take a couple of weeks to get the wax try in. a week later I was told that now they had a tech on site again so we made an appt for the following week. I finally come in and i'm told that my insurance decided not to cover some of it. See point 1 and point 2 above: what insurance? they tried to charge me 400$ and when I called them to throw a fit they cancelled it made another appt, a whole week later. so it turns out that they are shipping the wax/ final denture from a place up in Madison. How is that an on site tech? I had to do impressions again for the new tech, but what happened to my old one? we FINALLY do the wax try in and i see only a full upper denture, so I ask. Didn't I have a partial? they tell me "nope only the upper" then why did I do the filling?? you all told me that it was to support the lower partial so where did that come from??? when you call aspen dental you hear "our customers get their dentures in days not weeks thanks to our on site technicians" sure, days, 107 of them start to finish. so I finally get into the office and get my denture, its in my mouth as I type this, at the end of my visit they tell me that HFD refunded $719.40. First of all refunded to who? its absolutely not in my account. Second of all what?? so I call HFD and they tell me, Aspen dental made an adjustment to your balance of $719.40 so that it was no longer owed. I call aspen dental to tell them this and guess what? now its over 1000 owed they adjusted it but they keep trying to charge me this phantom 400. And now they want me to come back in, open a new line of credit, and pay interest twice. I can tell you one thing for sure, I'm NEVER going back here again. (The actual dental staff who did the work were great, they procedures were painless and wonderfully done and the quality of the denture is great also, management is a nightmare though) read more

My husband had an abscessed wisdom tooth. We called for an appointment on Friday afternoon looking for someone who could pull the tooth for him ASAP. He was in a lot of pain and there was a lot of swelling. We reached to Aspen and got a call center employee who advised us that we could get in first thing Monday morning to get the tooth taken care of. When my husband got a call from the Janesville office on Monday morning, they advised him that he could NOT get his tooth pulled, and in fact, the oral surgeon is only on site a couple of days a month and is already fully booked this month. So basically, the Janesville employee completely contradicted the call center employee, as if the call center does not work for Aspen. Aspen almost had 2 new patients. Unfortunately, given the 'bait and switch' that was pulled here, we will NEVER use Aspen dental for our family. read more

In the Janesville office the Techs and Dentists are great. Support and finance staff are grifters and thugs! I am a previous patient, and my dentures have broken. Went in to have my dentures replaced. They require you to have a checkup for anything that may need to be taken care of. I went through the checkup. I need a new set of lower dentures along with some other dental care. I understand and am fine with that. Once the checkup is complete, I am escorted to the finance desk for my consultation. They have a finance program to the tune of just over $6,000 all set up for me to sign and they will get right on my dental care. I indicated I would pay as I go as always and would like to have my dentures ordered because they are currently cutting my lip because of the damage. The finance woman loaded with "prison tattoos" refuses to order my dentures unless I sign up for the financing. She is literally extorting me for $6000 plus interest. After a heated discussion and her smirking like a loan shark. I decided to leave before a real altercation occurs. I am currently trying to obtain a copy of my dental records, but they are dragging their feet. read more

If you sign up for care credit they charge the account for work that will be done 90 days out meanwhile you are paying 30% interest on work that isn't even done. I am not one to leave a review for an establishment but if I could give negative stars for this location I would. I haven't even been able to see a flipping doctor and I'm already turning my back on the Janesville clinic. I had an appointment scheduled for yesterday and I got a text to confirm, and emailing confirming my appointment and a reminder text confirming my appointment. I drive the 45 MINUTES to Janesville and I walk in and say I have an appointment and the front desk just looked at me and said "we have no more appointments for today" and at first I thought maybe they have more than one location so I asked and she said no so then I pull my phone out and show her that I have a confirmed appointment and the front desk person actually told me " well I might have tried to get ahold of you and if we didn't get a verbal confirmation we cancel the appointment". I got no communication that I was REQUIRED to verbally confirm my appointment let alone got any communication that the appointment was CANCELLED. I was just in shock and so I asked "so even though I CONFIRMED the appointment and I can provide three versions of proof of a CONFIRMED appointment I can't be seen today?" DO NOT go here.... they charged me $260 upfront for work on my son... after I left I thought about it and went back and asked them why it was so much, and why didn't insurance cover it. They had my family down as not having insurance just a discount... that's not my mistake. So I asked them for a refund of what the difference would be and was told they don't do that, that after his appointment they would refund the difference. So I cancelled his appointment and they are still holding my money. I went to another dentist office and they told me that Aspen was billing it wrong, and his charges should of been a lot less to begin with. So they make a mistake, over charge me, then keep my money. If I could give them fewer stars, I would. So far, they messed up my daughters root canal and crown..both parts, my fiancé's dentures, and almost pulled 3 teeth from my 22 year old son instead of fixing them. My daughter's crown wasn't seated correctly, nor was the root canal completed. We had this confirmed by (2) separate dentists, as well as by Aspen, once we pointed it out to them. My daughter will need to have the root canal done a second time, and have another crown put on. What makes it worse is our insurance only covers a crown once every (5) years, so we will have to pay 100% out of pocket for her crown to be replaced as there is no way in hell I will put her through that again. My fiancé also went to Aspen, around the same time as my daughter's initial appointment, to get dentures. Not only did they rip (yes, rip) his teeth out, but nearly a year later and his dentures still don't fit right. The dentist NEVER looks at the fit of the dentures. Not when they were first put in, not for adjustments, NEVER. My 22 year old son went, once again, around the same time as everyone else. He was told he had 3 teeth that needed to be removed. They did not give any alternatives to just ripping the teeth from his mouth and leaving gapping holes. He hasn't gone back, and kept his teeth... The hygienists all seem young and maybe don't know the torture their dentist is putting his patients through. I personally know a couple of hygienist that transferred out of that office as soon as they could because of the poor level of treatment. My fiancé will be transferring to the Aspen in Sun Prairie (his dentures are covered for life with Aspen, so he is stuck with them). Everyone else will be going to Dr. Reitz in Edgerton from now on. Jayme was so rude and unprofessional. She was bad mouthing the appearance of the person who brought me to my appointment and was very bad at communicating. Went in for an extraction and waited two and a half hours before getting a refund for the service and leaving. Drove all the way from Madison for a same day emergency tooth and they could not care less. Instead of helping me they handed me a $3000 quote for everything they wanted to do and was irritated with me for not wanting anything else done. In the time I was there 4 different people walked out very very unhappy. Some waited hours before finally getting in for their scheduled appointment and another was overcharged for services they didnt have done and they refused to explain the situation or help. Wow! Never in my life have I ever dealt with such unprofessional, sneaky and shady business. New to town and figured going with a national outfit like Aspen would provide me a reasonable experience, well I was very wrong. The first trip is a joke, it is to take Xrays and talk with you. That way they can bill your insurance for that visit, plus the cleaning at a later date. In addition, my insurance covers 100% of my cleaning, however, they said mine would be 120 out of pocket. I tried to ask why and they just danced around the question. I am now going to Forward Dental, who is going to clean my teeth on my first visit and not charge me a penny. I am 67 years old and have finally decided that is time for me to start thinking about retiring. I have had very bad teeth due to an old dentist we had as kids that filled our teeth so far down in the root that they are now splitting and root canals can not be done on them. I decided that I wanted all my dental work done before i did retire and lose my dental insurance. I checked around a few places thinking that I had to have dentures to get pricing. The most resonable was Aspen Dental so made a decision that is where I would go. In the mean time I had a tooth break and had HORRIBLE pain so called the Aspen Dental office up here in Madison and they could not see me for a couple of weeks, but said that their Janesville location could get me in the next day. I took that appointment and went there with the idea that my pain would be taken care of that day. Their website says free exam and x-ray for new patients. I got there and had x-rays and exam by both the dental hygentist and the dentist I was told all the work that needed to be done to my teeth, which included cleaning, 2 cavaties and two extractions. I was then told by the denist Samar Syed that I did not need dentures that I had strong bones and should get bridges. I was then left alone in a room for almost 20 minutes thinking they would be coming in to extract the one tooth that was really hurting me, but instead they came in and took me to a girl out front who sat me down and explain what everything was going to cost me and I need to pay half up front today before they made an appointment to get the work done. I said aren't i having the one tooth pulled today and she said no i had to wait 10 days to come back but they would gladly give me pain pills. Not being much of a pill taker I toughed it out for the 10 days only using Advil to give me some relief. The girl with all the numbers said my bill would be 1862.00 without the bridges and my responsibility was $551.70. I was also told that I could have the molds make for my bridges on the 18th if I decided to do that the same day and could pay that full amount of my portion then. I paid that amount on my first visit and waited to come back on the 18th. Upon arriving at my second appointment I was taken back and had an extensive cleaning and Gingival Irrigation. This took about 45 minutes and was then given mouth wash to take home and use daily. I was charged $135.00 for an Electric tooth brush which i was never given. I was taken back to the waiting room where I sat for 30 minutes waiting for the dentist. When I finally was called back the assistant took my blood pressure and got me prepared for the dentist. First thing they did was give me 7 shots of novicane and filled the two cavaties that I had. This took about 15 minutes and went smoothly. The dentist then proceed to try and extract the tooth on my upper right side. After about 1 hour and 6 more shots of novican she still didn't have the tooth extracted. I had to stop her a couple of times as the pain was getting so bad. I have high blood pressure and anxiety to needles so 13 shots of novicane at this point plus the pain and stress was about more than I could take. She said my tooth was brittle and was breaking into pieces. After what seemed like forever she said she was done and went on to the other tooth on the left side to extract and have to give me 3 more shots of novicane. That tooth came out easy and when I was cleaned up they said take your purse and follow the nurse to the x-ray room to have another x-ray. I was then told that I had to go back to the chair as they had not gotten all of the first tooth out. I was ready to cry. Went back in there and the dentist tried again for several minutes and finally said put some gauze in there and the nurse and dentist walked out leaving me laying there for about 10 minutes totally by myself with no explanation as to where they were going or what was going to happen. Finally a very elderly dentist came in and tried to get the tooth and after 10 minutes of trying and me crying, he said they were just going to leave it in there and in 10 to 20 years I would probably have to have it removed if it started to surface. He kept talking about my sinus cavity and how the tooth was into it. But didn't explain anything else. They told me they were sorry it took so long, and sent me on my way. I was never given any instructions as to what I should do at home to take care of these two large holes and explain to me what could happen or what to do if it did happen. All other doctors and dentists usually give you written instruction sheets after procedures. I got out to my car which had been sitting in the sun and it was very warm inside. I felt like I was going to pass out and was very sick at my stomach. I sat there for awhile, then proceeded to drive back to Madison (30 minutes). I have been going to Aspen dental for 3 years, the last 6 months it seems there's a shift in culture from treating patients with dignity and respect to money mongering. I have always paid my bills and 3 months ago when my wife needed an extraction she was told before this couldn't even be scheduled until the money was paid up front. She offered to give them our credit card # over the phone and was told sorry had to come in the office no cards over the phone. A wasted trip to Janesville, seems like they have lost trust. Fast forward to this month April, I was scheduled for a cleaning and was contacted by Aspen dental to see if I could move my cleaning appointment up by 1 week. I agreed and went to the new appointment, when I arrived the receptionist says it'll be $200.00. I was shocked because I have insurance that they have collected from for the last three years for bi annual cleaning. I looked around the waiting room, two people looking at me like "wow " he must be a big risk. Because the appointment change took me out of the 6-month range for insurance coverage that I had to pay 200.00. This is easy, schedule me so the insurance coverage pays, she scheduled me out a couple of weeks for insurance purposes. I later called and canceled the appointment -changing to new dentist that has a staff properly trained that treats people with dignity and respect. After calling to set up an appointment for my daughter, the receptionist on the phone was very kind and helpful. She went in for her appointment and stated she will NEVER go back. She does not have dental insurance and so it was a cash case. She has a tooth that broke off and there is a sharp piece. She was looking to have it pulled. The dentist was NOT professional and told her she has 9 cavities, needs a root canal and that her tooth nerve could explode at any time. He also asked if she drank soda. After she told him yes, he told her to stop drinking damn soda all the time and switch to beer (she is underage). She has always had very good dentist appointments and takes care of her teeth. No other tooth is bothering her except the one that is chipped. They quoted her a price of $1500 to have everything fixed. I was skeptical about going here after reading all the reviews but thought we would give it a try. I had tooth pain and scheduled an appointment with Aspen because they could see me sooner than anyone else. Once I got through the x-ray process, I was seen by the hygienist, and then she and the dental assistant left to go get the dentist. I have a fair amount of dental anxiety, and was sitting in the chair with my eyes closed, breathing deeply. The dentist came in and greeted me with a loud "wake up!" He never did look in my mouth, but showed me my x-rays on a computer screen. He spent a lot of time explaining how my diminished bone density and lack of flossing would cause future tooth loss, and twice told me to "floss your damn teeth" (a direct quote!), which I found more than a little unprofessional. I was told I have three cavities that needed filling, that my old fillings were deteriorating, and that I needed a significant amount of denture work. I was then greeted by a financial specialist, who took me into his office and showed me how just $2300 (out of pocket, after insurance!) could solve all my dental issues. He offered to schedule me to have this done, then when I balked at this, said he could schedule the fillings for two days from now. I explained that I'd already taken off work today and had anticipated the procedure was going to be done today. He told me that I'd called their central scheduling person and they had made a mistake, and that they had patients there who hadn't seen a dentist in 20 years who took precedence. Because I wasn't able to schedule more time off work, I left without having any procedure completed. I will not return to Aspen Dental under any circumstance. Update: I got in to see my regular dentist four days after my Aspen visit. He told me that I had zero cavities--the dentist at Aspen told me I had three!--and attributed my tooth pain to grinding while I slept. He also said my old fillings were fine and dentures were absolutely not needed. A dental guard from Target has solved the pain issue. My 86 year old Mother needed a new dentist after her regular dentist retired. Naturally after seeing one dentist for so many years my Mom had some real anxiety about having to see new dentist. The staff at this office was amazing with my Mother and completely put her at ease. She has had several appointments and each time she is made to feel comfortable. When Aspen said they could help I went for it and they did great the first try. I agree with Donovan M's 10.27.15 review. My visit was much more recent though, 9.30.16, and I got the same up-sell! In the past, I've always has my cleaning done on the day I made my appt. I just switched dentists and with Aspen, however, this is not the case-you just can't get your teeth cleaned on your initial appointment date. I was told that I could have my cleaning done on my 3rd visit (after full payment was made) and after I had followed the plan they had in store for me which would have cost almost $600 out of my own pocket. I have near perfect teeth and so to me, this was a complete turn off and I felt like I was being ripped off to be honest. I called my dental ins. company to ask if this method of care was usual and they advised me that YES, this can be usual and customary at some dental offices. Well im giving the dentist 1 star and the staff 5 , after listening to commercials about how the dentist at aspen dental will not judge you for any reason. i gave this place a chance during an emergency office visit. i loved the lady who took my x rays and the lady who wanted to work with me on financing " who actually listened to what i wanted" unlike the dentist. I've had issues with my mouth since teens , i grind, clench my jaw which causes my bite to be off and wearing of teeth on top of family history of crappy teeth. i am a soda drinker but not to the extent he made me feel. the dentist came into the office and very loudly and rudely told me that i need to stop drinking soda.( at least 4 -5 times he repeated himself) i explained to him everything i was told by a previous dentist and he scoffed at what i had been told like i was lieing... so convinced soda is my problem, not the bite or clenching.. even tho side of my mouth is clearly worse than the other... if it were soda it would be the whole mouth.... i explained to him iv had problems eating and drinking since i was a teen and he replied " well stop drinking soda" . i told him i was interested in a bridge because i do not have the funds for caps and root canals of 4 teeth. He told me no because patients always come back mad at him years later asking him why didn't he save those teeth. At this point i was almost ready to walk out and cry. The Saving grace with a lady who deals with billing her name is lisa and she actually listened to me and even agreed with me that financially a partial denture is the better way to go. she was super nice. needless to say i will not be returning to see this dentist, im scheduled to be seen at the Madison location. wish me luck!! i agree with the person who said he trys to be a comedian.... i did not find him funny!!! more or less an insult followed by a joke... read more

I had a lot of work done costing me nearly 10K worth of work according to them. I sat down for my consultation and we went over insurance costs and what would have to be paid out of pocket. My total amount out of pocket was roughly 2,500 dollars. Which had to be paid 100% before any work was completed. Which is fine but, 2 months after my final appointment when the work was being done I got a bill for 5,498 saying my insurance didn't pay anything and I have been going back and forth for 2 months now. My appointment was back in May it is now September and I am still fighting them for an overpayment. They owe me 1,300 dollars and I finally got insurance to get them to refund the money to me. I have asked for corporate numbers, customer relations and magically they don't know those numbers or can't find them. How magical when I finally proved I over payed. I'm still waiting for the payment as a matter of fact. I ask to speak to the the "manager of the office" and she couldn't even explain to me how I overpayed nor could she even give me an educated guess. I am the patient I should not have to constantly call to get this resolved. Ridiculous. Do not ever go here. I would rather let my teeth fall out of my head if this was the last dentist office on Earth. read more

I had an appointment at an oral surgeon and they claimed that they had no record of it. I was in pain for two months waiting for that appt. From there we drove to Aspen and they got me in right away. I was in quite a bit of pain. They got me in and completely out of pain with ten-twenty minutes. The staff was wonderful and did not make me feel like a burden. I would recommend them to anybody. People can say whatever they want about them but they have never been anything but professional and courteous to me and my family. read more

Not a good experience at this dentist office. I needed a root canal so the dentist wrote 2 prescriptions, one for pain meds the other for antibiotics. I took them to Walgreens, they informed me they could not fill because the dentist was not registered with the state of WI. Walgreens called the dentist, they were rather short & abrupt informing them he has been a dentist for 43 years. It turns out he didn't renew with the state at the proper time. Then I had to make a trip to my doctors office explained the situation and she called Walgreens, verified the facts, and wrote the RX'S for me. Thank you Dr. Pack. I went back a few days later to have the root canal done. The procedure itself went ok. After I left his office I went shopping, while I was in the store my tongue happened to touch the back of the tooth where it had been filled. I could feel excess filling material left on the tooth and it felt rough, back to the dentist office! They took me in right away. He smoothed off the excess material & polished the surface. It did feel much better. Then he kidding said he left it there for extra support. This guy thinks he is a comedian, I didn't. I was inconvenienced to many times, not very professional service on his part. I will not be back. Doesn't deserve even 1 star. read more
