NEVER AGAIN. I will never go back to any Aspen Dental location. I needed a failed implant extracted. They tried to upsell me to over $10,000 of care. My teeth aren't in that bad a shape for my age. They constantly tried to get me to sign for the $10 grand. First they had to give me a $550 workup and then they wanted to charge me for periodontal care for over $2000, then a bridge for a total of over $10k. I of course, said that I just wanted the extraction. I have good insurance, but even after insurance they charged me $375 out of pocket to remove a tooth that literally was falling out of its socket. Then to add insult to injury a month later I got a bill for another $168. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!!!! I'll go to a back yard mechanic next time before I set foot in ANY Aspen Dental location. I have never had such an unpleasant experience enough to write a review , I brought my husband to get a chipped tooth fixed. Ultimately it ended up leading to more discoveries that I trusted were legit considering I am referring to professionals. Going through with the procedures I was quotes apx 6000, made sense considering the work that needed to be done. Nonetheless it felt as if I were there to remind the dentist of what was suppose to be taken care of and on top of that extra cleaning services were trying to be it seemed pushed onto us despite of already paying apx 6000. I had one pleasant receptionists but the rest of the staff seem to be unprofessional and seemed to want to be "right" rather than understanding, or empathetic to clients spending thousands already. The receptionists aren't very patient with those who don't understand technology, hard hearing(seniors), I literally witnessed it first hand. Honestly it isn't worth it , seems like a dishonest place made to milk your money. I highly recommend taking your business somewhere else. read more

I had a root canal with a cap put on several years ago with another dentist. The cap broke off and was a little painful so my wife suggested Aspen Dental. I had reservations as soon as I got there when they were suggesting dentures and wanted to pull ALL of my teeth and charge me a ridiculous price to do it. Right out of the gate. Of course I declined and told them I just wanted the root below the broken cap removed. They put me in a room (after a way too long wait) numbed my mouth and then I waited. Did I mention I waited? The dentist finally comes in and goes to work to extract the roots. Roughly. He was obviously in a big big hurry to dig out the roots and move on to the next "patient". After several days my mouth was hurting more than it did before the appt. My wife wanted to take me back to Aspen and I refused. Weeks later something pops through my gum and I dug it out. I was a piece that they missed. It was under my gum like a giant splinter and hurt like hell to the touch. Thought I was in the clear for a few days then the pain started again. Several weeks go by and another big piece of tooth or bone I don't know pops through my gum and again I (painfully) dig that one out. A few days have gone by and I am now pain free. Now the coup de grace... As if the three thousand dollars I spent on ONE tooth and whatever they got from my insurance was not enough. I just got a bill from them in the mail. Dr Kapoor was amazing. I was so scared to have a root canal done because of a terrible experience before at another dentist office, but Dr Kapoor was very understanding and kept me updated on what he was doing during the procedure. Dr. Kapoor was very patient, especially when it came to the numbing process. (It took me a bit to become numb) I'm definitely sticking with Dr Kapoor as my dentist. He's very compassionate and very quick with the process! I would recommend him to everyone who needs a dentist. He's someone you can trust! The Aspen Dental staff in Mishawaka is amazing. They were all so kind and super helpful. I'm very lucky I found such a great Dentist and his amazing team. If you need dental work, go to them! read more

I had a partial made there it was supposed to be a metal partial I was time pressed and had a job to do out of town for an extended period long story short they made me an acrylic not a metal partial and have never made it right still to this day they've had a lot of attrition the dentist that actually did my work is no longer there seems like this place is in disarray I would not recommend like I said they had opportunities to make it right and they have chosen not to would not recommend they won't take care of you if something goes wrong that's for sure read more

I don't usually give reviews but I'm going to for this. I paid cash for two crowns. I was under the impression that my very back tooth with sensitivity and a huge old filling was getting one of those crowns but instead they put a crown on a tooth closer to the front. The crazy thing is I was told by my dentist before I moved that I needed a crown in that back tooth maybe a year prior. I never got around to scheduling the appointment and then moved. Not having a new dentist in my new location, I started calling emergency dentists and ended up at Aspen because they were able to get me in on the same day for horrible tooth pain which I was thankful for. Unfortunately, I'm still having pain and increased sensitivity in that back tooth where I thought I was getting a crown and went to another dentist and was told I absolutely need a crown in that back tooth. It truly appears as if they repaired the wrong tooth but they won't admit it. I tried talking to the manager about the possibility of an error but got nowhere. I explained I was told before and after this visit that my back tooth needs a crown. I really hoped they would just make it right as I paid over $3,000 cash in full but the office manger said the dentist said I didn't need a crown in that tooth according to his x-rays (interesting). I hope the decision to not make this right was worth it for them as I maybe out $1,300 ish but I'm in a position where I could refer lots of dental pain patients their way and will not do so. I wish I would have read all these reviews before I went in. I will happily go somewhere else to get this needed crown and will share my experience with anyone who wants to listen about how Aspen was the one place to take this miracle x-ray where my back tooth didn't need a crown. I have paperwork and X-rays from other dentists to prove the needed crown before and after this dentist is saying I didn't need a crown. Do not recommend. read more

Really rather disappointed in myself for not looking up the Yelp reviews before committing to go here. Was frustrated with my previous dentist experience, and just needed to make a last minute appointment with the first provider I could find in my network. The first visit seemed okay, but I was feeling pressured into work I may have been able to do without. Not a huge deal until my next visit when the dentist didn't even read my chart and offered me a procedure I had just had done on previous visit. Kind of scary when the medical provider does not pay attention to detail. Got through the procedures I "needed" unscathed (hopefully). UPDATE: Got confirmation that some of the work I "needed" was done poorly and there's nothing I can do about it except to start over. Fortunately, it's not so bad that it HAS to be replaced immediately, but it's also unfortunate that I have to keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't abscess. Also, I pointed out my concern about the work to Aspen dental and they said it should work itself out eventually...which was apparently code for "we can charge you more later when we have to replace it." Months later I received bills for work that was supposed to have been covered by my insurance, but the office failed to properly check on. I sat in the office and was told it was all taken care of. That was an untruth. They failed to follow up with the insurance company properly, and I had to do all of the leg work to not get screwed. Thankfully my insurance was more organized, and had better customer service. There has been little attempt on the office's part to remedy the situation. Promises to contact me directly have been ignored. I only ever get random documents with no explanation, notices from "corporate", robo calls with no option to talk to a human, and when I did get a human it's someone who has no idea how their own company works and has to leave a note for someone else who never contacts me. I've since taken action to ensure they don't do this to another patient. My insurance company has been a huge help in this process. I do hope Aspen figures out how to limit the use of screws to their patients mouths, rather than other parts of the body or their wallets. I recommend looking for a dentist that is not part of a franchise. You'll be more likely to get the care, attention and accurate accounting you'll need. read more

Adequate service, though nothing stellar. Expect to wait double the amount of time for anything than at another dentist. Even though there is only one actual dentist, they regularly fill three or more stations with patients and make you wait "while the adhesive cures" or "a few minutes while you get numb" extra long. Ten minutes always means a half-hour here. If you get there in the late afternoon, there is a high likelihood you will get rescheduled. When a crown didn't come in, I didn't get a call to reschedule, and they even called to remind me (robo-call, that is) of the appointment. Luckily, I wasn't working that day, because that could be costly for some people. One of their saving graces was that they accept one of the better discount plans out there. Also, after the 5 arduous visits (plus one to a referral for root canal), the work was adequately done. read more

During my first visit I was given a cleaning. I was feeling really bad about my teeth at the time, and they were trying to convince me I should have ELEVEN crowns. The few teeth that they said were okay, they fixed the existing cavities. I ended up going to a legit dentist when I had better insurance and he fixed all of my teeth. Had my extraction appointment scheduled for 9am, they finally began the surgery around 5PM. I ended up taking a week off work because my neck was bruised so badly, the surgeon butchered my mouth so much that the dentist didn't believe I had the work done there when he saw me for a follow up a week later. They quoted me a price which I paid in advance, then sent me invoices for about $400 more. Be ready to wait even if you have an appointment, they will take a walk-in and make you (a regular patient) wait. I have fallen asleep a few times in the lobby from waiting up to an hour past my appointment time. It almost seems like a game for them to see how many patients they can squeeze into the day. I was going to get new top dentures but after they quoted me a price I thought I would check other places and compare to them. They actually quoted me a higher price in person then their website, they blamed it on hidden charges. I have decided I will try the Ireland Rd. office next time because I have a warranty and my dentures have always felt loose. I would highly recommend trying a different practice, at least avoid the Grape Rd. Aspen Dental. It has been my worst medical experience. read more

So far my experience has been relatively normal. The extraction process was a bit horrifying to say the least. But that will be the experience anywhere you are not sedated for the procedure. Currently I am having a lot of trouble with my temp dentures. I am making my third appt to see if we can strip out the filler and start from scratch. Would be nice if I could chew even a macaroni noodle without feeling like you have dracula teeth that are two sizes too big in your mouth. It has been over three weeks now and I am hungry! I didn't realize how good i had it with my nasty looking partial teeth, but just try chewing any food you like using only your tongue and the roof of your mouth, that is what it is like without teeth! Currently with my dentures in it is the dracula scenario, I am personally having a horrible time with the constant feeling of something foreign is in my mouth, also it seems a good portion of your taste buds reside in the roof of your mouth and this area gets covered over by upper denture. Anyways I am pretty much miserable to say the least. I have been eating jello and shakes for three weeks and I am srarting to feel sick from all the sugar. I pray that I can get these things fitted where I can eat a wet noodle or a piece of cheese even! I did experience one more issue that still upsets me. I had two gold crowns over a couple back molers that I wanted after they were extracted and the doctor would not give them to me! He said they are not gold, they are just copper with a gold plating over them. They are worthless he said. If they are worthless then why the big stink I can not have them? I called my old dentist and he said they were pure 22 karat gold as a matter of fact. So i figure that is minimum $250. That they basically stole from me. So if u have a mouth full of gold. You probably want to go else where. The other two place I went to compare pricing on both said i could have my gold crowns no problem! Being I am currently in between jobs that money would be very useful for necessities! Wish me luck. I am on the fence. If it dont get better I am in for a long horrible rest of my existence, But hey I have lost close to 50# and 7" around my waist. I just just barely can walk upright because it was my core muscles that seem to have disappeared. Sorry for the long rambling, do as much research as is humanly posible before going through with full extraction. Better yet use preventive care and avoid situation all together. Crossposting to this page because I went to the Warsaw location and theirs doesn't seem to be claimed. I went in to have my wisdom teeth removed and my experiences wuth them were horrific. They withheld information from me, left me alone for long periods of time, have poor scheduling practices, and have since treated me with an absurdly abysmal amount of professionalism and courtesy. I'll need to backtrack to embody the full spectrum of ridiculousness this place emits. It began when I went in for my initial appointment. They were only able to remove one of my teeth because, according to them, my gag reflex was too sensitive under anesthesia and I needed to reschedule to have the rest extracted under a local. Okay, no problem. However, the day afterwards, I was concerned that I popped one of my stitches, so I returned to see if I could have someone look at it. I was made to wait for a good half hour before they called me back only to say there was nothing they could do--something they could easily just tell me upfront. A month goes by and the day before my second extraction comes around. They contacted me and asked if I could reschedule due to the doctor already being rather booked. I refused since I scheduled a month in advance. I get in for my appointment and they asked me if I was sure I wanted to be sedated under a local rather than a general anesthetic. They were the ones that told me I needed to be under a local, so of course that's what I need. It was in that conversation that I learned they didn't disclose all of their reasoning for my being under a local. Initially, they told me it was my gag reflex, but at this appointment, they told me I was extremely combative. I should have gotten this information the first time. My surgery began and the doctor sedated me and was successful at extracting the first tooth. Afterwards, he left me to "compose myself" and said he would return shortly. By his definition, shortly means 40-45 minutes. Since the structure of the office is fairly open, I could clearly hear him pulling out the teeth of two other people while I sat and waited for him to return. Local anesthetics have a time limit. He comes back after those two people and then numbs me again only to disappear for another half hour. He returned again and started working on my second tooth. It's a pretty distressing experience because I am wide awake and feeling every single uncomfortable sensation that comes with a wisdom tooth surgery. He wasn't a very compassionate man, telling me every few minutes that I needed to "calm down." It's not that easy being calm when you have to be awake for this kind of procedure. But that wasn't even the most distasteful aspect of this part of the surgery. As he's working on extracting my second tooth, he asks me if I'm SURE I don't want to reschedule to get the last one pulled. I am sedated, I am freaking out, and he is already in my mouth. In what way is it logical to ask me to reschedule? So no. I refused again. And he completed the surgery. Aftercare was a joke. Rather than letting me leave out the back door like they did the last time, they marched my swollen face out of the front, parading my discomfort in front of all of the waiting patients. I called them after a few days to report my unpleasant experience, but they acted none the wiser, stating "oh we didn't know, that shouldn't have hapoened." They told me they would get back to me, but to this day they still haven't. It's been over a week or so. I wouldn't wish this kind of experience on anybody, so please save yourself the time and sanity and avoid having work done here. read more

I mentioned one of the dentists here while at the endodontist and somehow he caught wind of this and called me and yelled at me several days later for mentioning his name. It's been a nightmare with Aspen Dental. After paying in full for our service and having to come multiple time since Nov 2019 to get a denture fix that keeps breaking. His denture supposedly has "a one year" warranty. The doctor is so unprofessional my father in law got his teeth pulled by him and he wasn't even numb yet. He pulled them without caring. I usually don't write reviews but my experience with Aspen Dental was/is so frustrating that I felt that it was necessary. The staff and dentist were not terrible. They did keep trying to get me to buy things that I didn't need. What frustrated me the most, however, was the fact that I was charged an extra $63.00 for a service that I didn't request, which they added on as 'free.' I went back to the dentist when I got the additional bill to figure things out, wasted an hour of my time and they ended up charging me $7.00. I paid simply because I didn't want to waste any more time. I asked for a copy for my records, but they assured me everything was taken care of. A few weeks later, I receive a bill for $56.00 (with the $7.00 deducted). I don't have time to figure this out and I will definitely not be going back to this dentist. read more

READ! Worst. Place. Ever. And I expected something like this to happen based on the two other reviews. My husband went here this morning for a simple tooth cleaning. He was scheduled for 8:00 AM. He got there at 7:55 AM. The sign on the door said they didn't open until 11 AM, which is wrong. Anyway, he waited for about half an hour until they finally called his name around 8:30. As required at this place, he had to have an x-ray taken. They made him wait in the dentist chair for another half an hour watching some lame "Regis and Kelly" re-run, then, after the x-ray, waited another hour for results. Keep in mind, all he wanted was a stupid teeth cleaning. Well, they finally came and told him since he had a crooked jaw, they needed to do a specialized teeth cleaning that would require three visits and anti-biotics (that would take 60 days to "help his gums", or whatever). This would have cost us $600 that the insurance wouldn't pay. And when my husband said, "I'm a student, I can't afford this," they replied, "Okay, well, I guess we can knock off two things that really weren't needed, bringing the price to $388." You know what happened next? My husband walked out. He spent a total of two hours wasting his time at this office for no reason when he should have been at school. And they didn't even clean his damn teeth! His dentist out of country and his dentist back in California never made him jump through hoops like that. They told him, "Hey, your jaw line is a little crooked, but that's up to you if you want to fix it." And they still gave him a general teeth cleaning anyway, without x-rays, without waiting two hours, without paying $600! Just be careful when you go here. Only YOU know your teeth. They might say, "You need fillings/root canal/surgery..." when you actually don't. Get a second opinion before letting them work. AVOID. read more

Terrible!! Dr. Wakim is the worst dentist. The oral surgeon Dr. Desmond Brown caused extensive nerve damage. Dr. Wakim would not help me and continued to watch me suffer. After going to a specialist, I was told I have extensive, permanent nerve damage from the extractions! If they would have treated me for the nerve damage after the surgery, it could have been minimized or eliminated. I am on multiple medications for the rest of my life because for their lack of follow-up care. My condition is known as one of the most painful conditions known to the medical community. All of this could have been avoided had Dr. Wakim of provided proper treatment after the procedure. read more

I'll start by saying I've never been so appalled my a dental experience in my life. My appointment was at 8, they had a lobby full of people all with lives to get back to who had to stand and wait because there wasn't enough seating because they didn't call anyone back until 8:20! The unpreparedness and unprofessionalism was apparent from the start. I finally get called back and the seats and equipment is so old and worn it was gross. The other Aspen location I went to previously was beautiful so this was a shock. I was scheduled for an exam, cleaning, and potential cavity fill which I was assured would all be able to be taken care of same day. I had to remind the dentist 3 times to check my tooth to which he responds "I don't think you have one" because he could care less about actual helping him. I'd be a dentist too if I could get paid the big bucks to not do a dang thing. But what he did tell me is the tens of thousands I had already spent on my teeth weren't good enough and he knew better. Then after an hour of being there, with NOTHING done, the assistant wanted to walk me up to the front, just to have ME ask her when the Hygienist was going to come clean my teeth. She couldn't give me a straight answer and come to find out I had to reschedule. I drove over 20 min one way just to get to this dump! So fine, I tried to reschedule for the cleaning and was told they needed to charge me $145 out of pocket for it when in the 7 years I have had work done in my mouth, I have NEVER had to pay as my insurance covers 2 per year. On my first visit for a cleaning and exam, they stated that my teeth and gums were in terrible conditions and strongly urged $4000 worth of services, which was ridiculous given the hygienist's comments on my good home oral care and my extra white teeth (without using any whitening products). I've never had any major dental problems prior to this or at subsequent dentists, so I have no idea why they pushed so hard on unnecessary services, except to milk money from a poor, naive college student. I also felt that the dentist was very condescending and never really answered my questions. I still have the same insurance plan, but go to a different office (The Dental Center), and have noticed that Aspen Dental charged a lot more for certain services, resulting in a significantly higher charge for patients even after insurance kicks in. Overall, I was extremely dissatisfied with Aspen Dental and suggest shopping around for a better dentist/office. read more

Aspen dental has serious issues. I had an infected tooth, we decided to do an extraction. I sat down with the insurance lady after she got my insurance information and spent a very long time discussing my options for payment. I would pay payments on the remaining balance that was not covered by my insurance. 2 weeks later I get the statements from my insurance that they will cover $0000 of my claim. It seems that I have a 1 year waiting period on major dental. I am 5 weeks away from the 1 year time frame. Aspen Dental's incompetence and lack of patient responsibility has left me with a $1600.00 bill that I can not pay. I'm already paying on the $1200 that I was told wasn't covered. Does Aspen Dental really have to revert to these tactics to gain patients. This is 100% negligence. read more

Awful. I mean the TVs were nice, but everything else sucked. The dentist was brisk and didn't do a good job. Two of my four fillings fell out within a month. The other two fell out within 6 months. I have been in pain ever since going to Aspen. I would find another option if I were you. I still get grumpy every time I drive past their business front. UPDATE: They suck even more than I thought. I am trying to get together all x-ray history for my upcoming new dentist apt. Dr. Mahoney's office--they are awesome, and I wish I had them on my insurance plan--is sending my x-rays to the new dentist through email free of charge. IUSB dental clinic is sending my records to me free of charge by regular postal service... ASPEN--THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $129.00 JUST TO SEND ME A COPY OF MY X-RAYS! It was my first visit to a dentist in nearly 15 years. I'm terribly afraid/terrified of dentists and have not had positive dental visits in the past with other offices. I woke up over the holiday weekend with a swollen and sore left side of my face. I called first thing Tuesday morning, based on a positive recommendation. Aspen was able to get me in that afternoon, assessed my situation, and pulled the two troubled teeth immediately. I was a nervous wreck, but Dr. Kapoor and his amazing team made me feel at ease and as comfortable as possible. Two teeth extracted with no pain! I would highly recommend, 100%. read more

I was very disappointed with aspen dental, I went there with a broken clasp on partial, and the Dentist basically had no intentions on trying to repair it, but was adamant about selling be a new bridge. I told him all I wanted was him to fix the clasp and he kept saying " in the long run, the bridge will be better for a guy your age" Looks to me like Aspen Dental is more in it for the all mighty dollar, than the needs of the patient. read more

Let me start out by saying that everyone at the office that I went to was very, very pleasant and friendly. No problems with the staffing. My problem is with the way that they handle the appointments. My old dentist had retired and I needed a new dentist. The. Aspen office was easy to get to and excepted my insurance. So I made an appointment for what I thought was going to be getting my teeth cleaned. I went to my first appointment and found out that no, they're not going to clean my teeth that day but my first appointment was for and an evaluation only. So then I had to make a second appointment to come back for the cleaning. I will say that my hygienist was very nice and very thorough and I thought she did a good job and I was pleased with the thoroughness of the dentist in his examination. I was happy with the results but still a little annoyed that it took two appointments just for a simple cleaning. Then I had a front tooth that had a old repair with a little chip that came off in the corner and needed it repaired. It was a simple little bonding and should not be very complicated. I made an appointment for that and went in and they started taking tons of x-rays. They took nine x-rays of the left side of my mouth and the problem wasn't even in this area, it was a front tooth. My parents between the two of them have had six kinds of cancer and I am extremely leery of all this radiation. I finally asked them to please stop as I did not want all this radiation and that is not even where the problem was. They agreed to stop and put me back into a room. Let me add that the x-rays were taken after I waited for one half hour. I sat in another room for a few more minutes and another hygienist came in and asked where my repair was and I said the front. She said well we didn't even get any x-rays from that, so she took me to get one x-ray of the front tooth. Which is what they should've done in the first place. I can hear them talking about me on the other side of the wall and the one hygienist was asking the other one why she didn't finish the x-rays. I do not understand why I need at least nine x-rays on teeth that are not even being taken care of on this day. Plus they had just looked in my mouth a month ago and knew that there were no problems. So she said what they got was sufficient and I waited a few more minutes and the dentist finally came in. after 45 minutes after my appointment time. He said it would be a while because he was doing a root canal and I would have to wait. I said that my appointment was for 45 minutes ago and you are going to make me wait some more? He said well today wasn't to do the repair it was to just do in an evaluation . I said when I called that I thought I made it clear that I need a repair on a chipped tooth done. He said I would have to wait while he finished his root canal. I said bye-bye. I then canceled any further appointments and found a new dentist. I find it totally ridiculous that they don't do the work that you need done on the first visit but do an valuation on the first visit and then make you make another appointment to come in for a second time to get the actual work done. In my 57 years of life I had never had a dentist work in this manner. It is ridiculous to waste peoples time. My thought is they are just trying to perhaps milk more money out of insurance companies? The dentist also remarked that have I thought of a crown or having that tooth pulled and having a bridge put in? Of course this would mean more money for them. It's just a simple bonding repair, I don't need my tooth pulled. I am not happy with the way they do things at this office and will not recommend it to anyone. I strongly recommend that you never visit Aspen Dental. I visited their dentist once for a checkup and was told I had something like six or seven cavities that needed to be filled. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and was told that I had one, maybe two. I went to a THIRD dentist and was told the same thing. Aspen Dental has a very low threshold for what counts as a carious tooth (i.e. one in need of a filling), and you can only wonder if that has something to do with their profit motive. MOREOVER, their monthly billing statements to me vary widely and they can never seem to tell me what exactly I owe. Finally, their financing program is, while not a scam per se, an arrangement that is obscure, hard to understand, the consequences of which are usually higher fees for the consumer. I strongly recommend that you visit other dentists in the area, and that you get second opinions when you can. read more

Went in for consult on a small chip in the bonding on my front teeth. Spent two hours on initial general check up, waiting for the dentist so I could discuss the chip. Dentist didn't listen to my actual concerns, talked over me, wanted to sell me a night guard even after I explained I only grind my teeth when I am awake, wanted to remove wisdom teeth that are not bothering me, and after I said this isn't something I need to talk about now. Anyway, staff was friendly, would never return to that doctor. I have always had friendly warm dentists, until now. I felt like she was in a rush to get out and I never had a conversation. She may be busy with many patients, but should take into account the fact that I took 2 hours away from my work day to discuss different options for my teeth and was quickly pushed into a financial office. I wasn't there to discuss money, I know dental procedures cost money. I wanted to talk about my teeth with the doctor. I am not sure what I am going to do with my two front teeth going forward. At least no one will see them, as I am not finding a reason to smile after visiting this dentist. read more

Pleasantly surprised, especially given the overwhelmingly negative reviews other people have given this place on Yelp (not quite as negative elsewhere). Everyone was nice, I didn't feel pressured to buy any services I didn't need (even though I'll be getting a couple of crowns and some other work) and they didn't guilt-trip me like a lot of dentists do. The office staff was extremely helpful in figuring out my course of treatment, and I actually got to start my appointment ahead of schedule. Going to the dentist is never fun, but among the several dentists I've seen over the years, Aspen was refreshing. Even though I wish I didn't have to, I'll be going back. read more

Not the type to write reviews but this place really screwed up so I couldn't just bite my tongue and let another potential patient go through the same hardship I'm dealing with. Went for a consultation concerning a cracked filling that was becoming painful. After x-rays, that one problem turned into 6 more potential problems that needed fixing (4 extra fillings and 2 wisdom teeth extraction). I was sent to that financial advisor and this is when the process started to become extremely unpleasant. I was planning on paying for everything out of pocket so I decided to wait till I return in January from studying abroad to take care of the wisdom teeth. I would just be getting 4 fillings done and a crown on the chipped filling I initially came to fix. The financial advisor used the sales tactic of talking really fast and not really sharing the specifics of how much each procedure would cost. The whole experience felt really sketchy. She kept trying to end the meeting and acting as if she was too busy to deal with me. I asked her for an itemized list with the prices and after printing it she didn't even give me a chance to check it on the spot. Came to realize it was mainly because she was hiding charges for products that I was never informed that I would be paying for (like an electrical toothbrush which I didn't need because I already own one.) I went for my first appointment to deal with part of the list (4 fillings). Everything was going well. The first annoyance was having the dentist repeat time and time again that my wisdom teeth need to come out. (To clarify: my wisdom teeth have been growing perfectly fine. Pain free. So its really annoying to have someone pushing for a procedure that isn't necessary at the moment. I am a student, folks, not a millionaire.) Anyways, the dentist removed the older fillings and right when I thought he would be working on refilling, he got up, moved on to his next patient and didn't say a word. His assistant (or resident dentist student(?)) then told me she would be doing the fillings and that he would come to check her work after it was done. The assistant did the fillings and then told me she was going to charge me an extra $75 because she "needed to use more filling that anticipated". Then she takes me to get another set of x-rays done because she wanted "to check if she did the fillings right". Very reassuring huh? After she finished with the x-rays i was sent on my way and the dentist never came back to check the fillings. That night, unbearable pain once the numbing agent wore off. Couldn't even eat from how much pain I was in. I checked the fillings in the mirror and noticed that the bottom one had a crack from the filling to the side of the tooth. I had to take pain meds to help me sleep that night. Went back the next day to have the dentist look over the fillings and find out why there was a crack. With him just blowing air on my new fillings I was clawing at my arm from the pain. He told me to bear with him which I thought was really funny considering that I was the one in excruciating pain. He then tells me that he couldn't see the crack and after I point it out to him he said it wasn't something to worry about and that it was probably something I caused from pounding on the new fillings too much.... I told him it was his responsibility to do the fillings and to at least check the assistant's work when she was done. He told me to just wait to see if the problem would resolve itself. If not, I would need a root canal. So now it has been 4 days and I haven't been able to eat without being in very uncomfortable/painful state. I canceled the rest of the procedures and will never be going there again. I go to take care of one problem and now I have to find another dentist to deal with their botched work! Before the procedure, I never felt any pain with the teeth he said needed new fillings. Now a day doesn't go by that I'm not in pain. And now i will have to find the money to potential get a root canal done that I never needed in the first place!!band what's perfect is that the one problem I went to Aspen to fix in the first place is still a problem. Now instead of one problem I have FIVE PROBLEMS to resolve! FIVE!!! Definitely don't recommend Aspen Dental Mishawaka. Wish I never set foot there. If I could give a no stars review, I would.
