I can't believe I gave this dentist a 5-star just a year ago…read more I feel compelled to express how deeply disappointed, hurt, and upset I was by the treatment I received during my appointment with Dr. Ferrage at Statesville Dental on May 5, 2026. I came to your office seeking dental care during what was already a vulnerable and stressful situation. A tooth in the back of my mouth had fallen out, and part of the remaining tooth still needed to be removed. As a patient, I expected professionalism, compassion, guidance, and understanding. Instead, I left feeling dismissed, judged, emotionally defeated, and frankly angry. Rather than focusing on the immediate reason for my visit, the conversation quickly shifted to a previous recommendation made by my periodontist regarding osseous surgery. I explained that I understood the recommendation, but I was trying to explore less invasive alternatives, specifically LANAP laser treatment, because traditional gum surgery is frightening to me. My concerns were not hypothetical. I shared that my twin underwent traditional gum surgery and described the experience as agonizingly painful. I was simply trying to advocate for myself and explore options that felt less traumatic. Your response to my concerns was, "That's your business." I then asked whether you had referrals for periodontists who use LANAP laser technology. You mentioned a few names but then told me I would need to "look myself." I explained that I planned to work with my health advocate to identify a provider with a LANAP machine since Dr. Phillip Weller's office did not have one at the time. Your dismissive response of simply saying "OK" with no additional context made me feel foolish for trying to advocate for my health and explore alternatives. That statement immediately set the tone for the remainder of the appointment. Rather than feeling supported by a healthcare professional, I felt dismissed and belittled for asking questions and attempting to make informed decisions about my own care. At no point did it feel as though my fear, anxiety, or emotional state mattered. The interaction only became more upsetting from there. At that point, I attempted to end the conversation respectfully. I acknowledged that I understood your recommendations and explained that I would follow up with Dr. Weller's office directly. Rather than ending the appointment professionally or compassionately, you responded by saying, "It's on you." That comment was completely unnecessary and deeply offensive. It reinforced the overwhelming feeling that throughout the entire consultation, I was viewed not as a patient deserving compassion and care, but as an inconvenience. I walked into your office already scared and uncertain about my dental situation. I walked out feeling small, judged, embarrassed, and emotionally exhausted. I want to be clear that I fully respect your education, training, and expertise as a dentist. I understand that part of your role is to be honest and direct with patients regarding their oral health. However, honesty should never come at the expense of empathy, kindness, professionalism, or basic human decency. Patients often come into dental offices scared, vulnerable, embarrassed, overwhelmed, or in pain. The way healthcare providers communicate matters just as much as the clinical care they provide.

Everyone is extremely nice and thorough in answering any questions I have. The doctor is very nice…read moreand funny, makes the experience less stressful as I've had bad experiences in the past at other offices.

Then more lies about my insurance and with their computer system. I had to call my insurance after waiting a month to find out they never submitted anything for my dentures and was told it only takes 5 working days for insurance to approve the procedure. The first lie was in the office from the dental assistant the second was when I phoned after waiting 2 weeks and was told insurance kicked it back for more information the third after waiting a month was that they were having an issue with their computer system getting through to my insurance company. I helped build your business as a patient when you were starting out. If you no longer wanted me as a patient because I have Medicaid you should've told me up front. I had to call the Medicaid and find out for myself. And if there were problems with your computer system you should've had the courtesy of calling me to explain why it was taking so long and not leaving me in the dark. Very unprofessional! Shame on you! My initial visit for X-rays and supposedly a request for insurance approval was on January 9th 2025 I'm still waiting to hear from them! As with all medical care today, it's all about how much does your insurance pay and screw the patient.

I can't believe that they want to say that my face and the inside of my nose is bruised because I bit my lip. The fact of the matter is they don't want to take ownership and what they did to me my face is bruised I can't hardly talk I've got stitches I've got infection and this just happened two days ago. And then on top of it they act like I'm just a pain pill seeking person and I'm not I'm in pain unbelievable utter pain I don't know what to do I can't hardly talk my face is so swollen it looks like somebody beat me and then because I'm upset they decide to cancel me as a patient which is fine I wasn't going back anyway but I do not recommend this place to anyone anyone that goes there for a tooth pulled beware beware because you get nothing for pain and if something happens it's all your fault not theirs it's all yours. I am so upset I can't see straight I will never ever have worked out on my mouth again I will go without teeth before I go back to another dentist that's how bad this got me

They will all tell you to go to a hospital ER. However, every ER will tell you there is nothing the ER can do. So there is either an unintentional or intentional disconnect which erodes the credibility of dentists in NC. This particular office did make an effort to schedule an appointment as quickly as possible. Which certainly gives this practice credit for attention to care. Options of care were offered and explained as expected. Financial - this is where the legos come together. You as a customer MUST be fully aware of what your dental insurance covers and not covers. This office assumes the lowest coverage and thus sets up your portion in that respect. You must be your own advocate and go over the financial aspects with them. Additionally, when i sat down to go over this I found out that their prices for your portion is based on their policy not the insurance outlined standards. While they state any overage will be refunded, you need to keep in mind that if you use a pretax amount, it is up to you to return any refunded amount to whatever service in order to avoid tax penalties. The financial office was both professional and understanding when this was outlined, however it will not change the outcome. So be on your toes!
