They tried to tell me it was a misunderstanding, but I asked several times if this was everything I needed, and was told yes. IT WAS DECEPTION; they should have given me that treatment plan at the beginning. I left because now I don't trust you.

Here is my review…read more I am a 100% disabled veteran who was sent to PDA from the VA to get my teeth fixed and things started out amazingly; felt comfortable, this is important as my disability is related to healthcare and feeling ignored due to a botched surgery and failed aftercare! PDA sent me to the Wilkesboro PDA office for a second opinion; I went as I wanted to make sure i was getting the right treatment and a second opinion made sense. I arrived about 20 minutes early to my appointment and let them know im im early and they said to wait in waiting room and ill be called at my appointment time. Appointment time came i physically watched people come in and get taken back for appointments AFTER MINE. One guy was called back named Todd we even asked "Which one" ugh it was the other one! i waited approx 20 minutes after my appointment time (total of about 40 - 45 minutes total, yes early was my part) but not being notified or updated and left alone to my own devices and feeling ignored by healthcare.....YET AGAIN....triggered my PTSD so I left and told them ill reschedule when they actually had availability. I left and called the troutman office and scheduling and told them what happened and said NEVER EVER send me to that office again and let me know next steps. NOTHING....RADIO SILENCE.....called VA they calle dthe troutman office who spoke to the office manager who sai dit was all my fault and had the audacity to have the wilkesboro office call me.....HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU'RE GOPING TO HANDLE VETERANS WITH DISABILITIES DO BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

Throughout the visit, the staff demonstrated a distinct lack of empathy and a reluctant attitude toward patient care. Instead of taking proper steps to clear old glue from her tooth, the dentist aggressively ground down the existing cap. He removed so much base material that the cap was rendered permanently unusable. This destructive approach appeared entirely focused on justifying the need for an expensive replacement. This incident has caused our family severe emotional stress and undue financial hardship, as we must now seek corrective care elsewhere.

I was delighted to get an earlier appointment, based on a cancelation. I like the convenience of them texting for this, as well as appointment reminders. I had an issue, where I had to leave mid-appointment, but they were understanding & Dr. O'Toole was able to see me before I had to leave. Kaitlyn was understanding as well, & I was able to come back in an hour & a half to do the cleaning. They have a very nice & welcoming office. In current COVID conditions, staff wore masks & asked that patients do the same. They have very advanced systems (this coming from someone who hasn't been to the dentist in five years). They will all tell you to go to a hospital ER. However, every ER will tell you there is nothing the ER can do. So there is either an unintentional or intentional disconnect which erodes the credibility of dentists in NC. This particular office did make an effort to schedule an appointment as quickly as possible. Which certainly gives this practice credit for attention to care. Options of care were offered and explained as expected. Financial - this is where the legos come together. You as a customer MUST be fully aware of what your dental insurance covers and not covers. This office assumes the lowest coverage and thus sets up your portion in that respect. You must be your own advocate and go over the financial aspects with them. Additionally, when i sat down to go over this I found out that their prices for your portion is based on their policy not the insurance outlined standards. While they state any overage will be refunded, you need to keep in mind that if you use a pretax amount, it is up to you to return any refunded amount to whatever service in order to avoid tax penalties. The financial office was both professional and understanding when this was outlined, however it will not change the outcome. So be on your toes!

Had I known this beforehand, I likely would have chosen a different provider. Since endodontic procedures can cost thousands of dollars, I assumed financing would be available, as it is offered by many dental and specialty offices. After learning there were no financing options, I expressed my frustration because I felt I had wasted both my time and my mother's money on a consultation that would not lead to treatment. When I brought up my concern, I was told the information was in the paperwork I signed. In the fine print. While that may be true, I believe something as important as payment and financing options should be communicated clearly before patients spend hundreds of dollars on an evaluation. The interaction left me feeling dismissed rather than understood. My purpose in sharing this review is to encourage the office to be more transparent about financing policies upfront so patients can make informed decisions before committing to the cost of a consultation.
