I was pleasantly surprised with Aspen Dental. I needed a new dentist since I was new in the area and just happened to pick Aspen since they were covered with my insurance. I was nervous about going to a chain facility but I had nothing to worry about. The office is extremely clean and updated. The staff is very nice including their dentist, Dr. Dixon, who is laid back and down to earth. Not once, did any of their staff try to up sell me for cosmetic procedures such as whitening. They have a separate area where you check out and can ask any questions about your insurance. I would definitely recommend this dentist office. read more

Came here with some serious dental issues, in particular a missing crown each visit for cleaning of which there would be three annually this issue was always "we will get to that" Never happened along with the other issues needed. Welcome to the CAR DEALERSHIP!!!! The staff who takes care of you between reception and doctor is friendly but needs more training with hygiene. The person who was taking the scans for my "aligners" seem to touch everything around like the computer screen, i 100% noticed that she definitely had my saliva on her gloves then touching the screen and back touching the things she puts in my mouth for scans. The screen had already old smudges, something you cant unsee. (aligners is their Ultimate Product they all push to get their revenue up!!) Thats #1 #2. When the time comes for the doctor he comes in and the first thing he starts talking about is the aligners! Not about what im here for, what is my concern, what i want to do none of that! Straight to the sales pitch which was honestly great, he had a take away for me and everything!!! Hahaha! Im ALSO IN SALES so i knew exactly where it's going! He was super smooth, love it!! Very little attention to what im concerned about. I have insurance so i wanted to schedule a teeth cleaning, so they said that i need to do the some sort of gum treatment that was 500$ before i do my cleaning. (NEVER HAD ANY OFFICE TRYING TO FORCE me into something before performing a cleaning) so scrap all that. And #3 the cherri on top was the receptionist (THE CLOSER LOL) her demeanor was dry, with a little tenacity, providing me the $3.5k bill with "aligners" for 3k the gum treatment 500$ and my request for filling for 50$ with my insurance. Lol! She provided me with payments options of course hoping to get that signature!! Just like a ticked off car salesman who will smile only after that signature. Lol. I am petrified of going to the Dentist. Today I visited Aspen Dental on University Blvd. in Sarasota, FL. Fernanda was the person that took my exrays and impressions. Normally I gag, slap, cuss and overact, but today Fernanda kept me calm, talked to me like a real person and made me feel totally comfortable. She did not let the group slide down the back of my throat. She stood beside me and talked me through the procedure. I did not panic, I did not cuss and did not hit her. My experience with the Aspen Dental location in Lakewood Ranch Florida was very disappointing. I suggest that you avoid this location at all costs. If you are already a patient or decide not to follow my advice check your bill for services very carefully. My experience is that you will be charged for services you never received. I switched to Aspen Dental because they have appointments after 5. I love that there is flexibility in the day so I don't always have to miss too much work. They have a great system to confirm your appointment via text and email. I appreciate a business that sends out the reminders. However, I feel like this is a franchise where they work on company efficiencies to a flaw. The first time I went, I thought I scheduled an appointment. At other dentist offices they schedule the initial scans and perform the cleaning. Not this place. It's a separate appointment which means two payments. Slight annoyance, but that's fine. The other grievance about their 'efficiencies' is that 3 out of the 4 times I've gone for cleaning now, they had to move my appointment. I received no phone call which means I drove all the way across town just to reschedule. Please add buffer time so you don't always inconvenience the patients for your benefit of getting an extra appointment on the books! Three weeks ago I left a review of their mismanagement front desk back to the exam room for a warranty repair on my top plate denture. They did refund my $66 after the bad review I left, now for the worst part, they sent me a bill for $49 for seeing the dentist before the repair of said plate ( I guess they decided they did take my insurance). Was there over 3 hours for a 30 minute repair. Well when I have time to go in I will bill them for my 2.5 hours of excess wait time and they will owe me $13.50. This place is great to get you in the door as a new patient, but if you get dentures that are warranted be prepared to pay these people for unnecessary dentist visits before said repair. Dentist said it was because it was over 2 years and needed to see if I had any oral cancer or mouth sores. Do they really think I would not have these conditions treated before my plate broke. When I got there at 8:00 AM, I had to wait 30 minutes to see....not the dentist for treatment, but yet another assistant who wanted to do the second initial exam. I went to aspen dental about 2yrs ago for a broken tooth. The dentist in charge offered to tip my front tooth that had a small chip...after leaving I looked in the mirror and saw that he made my tooth longer/taller than the other...I went back inside to ask if he noticed the difference in length and to my surprise he said no...he attempted to fix it by shaving my tooth on the front making it extra sensitive and fragile...he purposely tried to ruin my teeth...also the dental first plan will cost you double to pay off...I'll never go back to this particular location which is in kissimmee florida across from the loop. read more

I am very angry right now! To start, I had an appointment here 12-26-19 I arrived early I thought like 20-30 minutes early. About 2 people walked in before me I thought they are here for their scheduled time and I am early no big deal. 2 people turned into 4 turned into 6! What a scam. I made an appointment to have a lost filling replaced. No problem , appointment was made but an hour after that I was cold and told that the doctor went home sick and they made an appointment at a different office. After filling out all the forms a radiologist came out and took many digital x-rays and scans of my mouth but nothing in particular to the feeling that I was there for. Let's start by saying that we loved the hygienist and dentist. They were very courteous and cordial. That being said, the great service ended as soon as they left the room. The office manager took us to his office dropped a sheet in front of us of work we needed (about $3000 for my wife and I) and showed us boxes of what our insurance would cover and what our cost would be. No details of the services were given and I only received this because I asked for a coding sheet to talk to my insurance company. Most of the fees were built in to some detailed cleaning we did not want that involved coming in for 3 visits and then a follow up. The hygienist "recommended" this treatment because it had been a while since we had a cleaning, but said our gums were not the bad and would not recommend a prescription or anything other than flossing more regularly. That day, we came for an exam and cleaning. We were told we needed some work that we were aware of and were planning on getting it taken care of when we have the money to do so, but the $700 each in specialty cleanings was not of interest to us. Additionally, special toothbrushes at $129 each and oral cancer screenings at $70 each were added to our proposal without telling us about these. When I got home and reviewed everything, I emailed the office manager. I told him we were not interested in detailed cleanings and would take care of my wife's care now and mine when we had the money and the work became more necessary. He never responded. Today we called to set up and appointment for normal cleanings (since we never got them) and we were told we had to follow what the dentist recommended and could not just get a normal cleaning. What about the patient's right to accept or refuse treatment. The actual dental staff (tech, hygienist,dentist) were all very nice, but the business side itself is a joke! I called today and asked for the owner and the staff asked why and gave me a hard time before I finally told her I had a complaint about treatment and needed to speak to the owner only about it because everyone else runs us around in circles or does not respond. My appointment time was at 11:45 and I waited about 45 minutes to even be seen by the X-ray tech. Then I was led into the exam room where I waited another 1/2 hour for the hygienist to check my gums. They said have to get used to them , well they just fell out when mouth open. After the exam they tell you your treatment plan and expected cost. No, not everything has to be paid up front. However, it is very different than your traditional dental office. I was told it would be a rework and cost more money, even though I indicated I had never had a root canal in that tooth. Then they charged me upfront so I could get an appointment to have the root canal done. When I mentioned to the dentist that they told me it was a rework she said I was right and that it was not. She changed the service code and said I would get a refund. I have been trying for a month now to get my refund. Calls go unanswered and not returned. It makes one wonder if this is a scam to try to overcharge for work and increase their revenues. I opened a BBB case, but a week ago was told I would immediately get my refund, so I said the case had been resolved. They did complete X-rays and evaluation, almost two hours, then handed me a bill for 6,800.00 after the examination. Much of the bill was for suggested deep cleaning as well a bridge of another tooth) This organization was more reminisant of a car dealership than dental office. NOT.
