What a great Alaskan business! It's a no frills bit solid And I mean SOLID! Hotel. It seems austere from the outside and that's the motive. Nothing fancy. Only an Alaskan hotel would have an arctic entry to fit a school bus full of kids. Then the elevator. Then the cozy front desk tucked in the back away from the front door. What a great concept born from experience. Though we didn't use it. Kitchenette. Range refridge microwave sink. Plates and silverware. Etc.... Warm room. The bathroom kept up with the motife. Note room. Not less. Enough space for two people and all your elbows without bumping into each other. Older style. But very very clean. Nothing at all was worn or used looking. Quiet quiet quiet hotel. At heat for us. Dogs welcome!! Pool and jacuzzi Ohh!! BONUS Three bears grocery in the same commercial lot with a McD's and shell gas! read more

Roaming around the Kenai peninsula was very nice and pleasurable. I didn't know that there was a City of Kenai when I saw that there were a few hotel properties on hotels.com and decided to stay there for a night. The City of Kenai was a small town and a small airport. I found this hotel on the cheap while roaming through the search results of hotels.com. I saw that they have a favorable hotel room rate suitable for my budget and my needs, so I decided to book it. Price points are usually under $100 per night, so it was a pretty good stay for me. This Aspen Extended Stay hotel & suites seemed to be centralized in the city of Kenai in the state of Alaska. Although you are basically on the west end of the Kenai peninsula, you can do a lot of stuff in the area. While the city itself is a small and sleepy little town, it's a pretty cool place and the Aspen Extended Stay hotel can be your ticket to grand adventuring in dee[ south central Alaska. The Aspen Extended Stay hotel seems to meet my basic needs as well as providing a comfortable stay after a long day worth of driving from Anchorage to the Kenai Fjords National Park, and here to the City of Kenai. It was a welcome site to see this hotel, as well as a few options for dinner, so I didn't have to think. Subway, McDonalds, and others a few miles down the road. McDonalds won that night, since it was literally next door to the hotel. The overall experience here at the Aspen Extended Stay hotel and suites was average, comfortable, and pretty good. It was your basic standard hotel room, complete with a mini kitchen near the bathroom and the door. The room itself was pretty clean and definitely organized. They offer housekeeping services, but I was here for a night, so I didn't have to get that. The thing about Alaska during the spring / summer is that they experience 20 hours of daylight. Even during the night hours, its not actually dark, so you'd need to close the blinds and basically just make the room dark as much as possible for your sleep. The service at the check in was decidedly decent, friendly, and fast as expected. They use your industry standard electronic key cards, so that's cool too. This Aspen Extended Stay Suites hotel is located at 10431 Kenai Spur Highway in the quaint city of Kenai, AK. They accept major credit cards upon check in, as well as asking for a driver's license as a form of ID. They usually don't ask for car information, since I was staying one night, but they do if staying for more than a few. They have a private parking lot for guests to park while staying here. For the most part though, my stay here at the Aspen Extended Stay Suites hotel was an uneventful one. It was a place to chill and rest after a long day of travel and driving. There is a work out room free for guests, but I didn't get a chance to. For me, I just got up at 8am and ran around the neighborhood. I got to see Kenai's regional airport and other assorted places in the area that morning and it was pretty nice. There is also free wifi included with the room. The Wifi wasn't as fast as promised, but it was pretty good for general use. The bed itself was a queen bed and I felt comfortable. I probably got a good 7 1/2 hours in before heading out of Kenai back towards Anchorage. Everything worked well, including the in-room television and the microwave. The mini fridge worked well and it was cold when I entered the room initially. The room was clean and I enjoyed my one night stay here in Kenai @ the Aspen Extended Stay Suites in late May 2018. I'd recommend checking this place out, if you will be in the area for work or vacation and need a place to stay. There was an ice machine, but you'd have to go to the lobby for that. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. Been staying at this hotel for a few nights now. Only reason why its getting 2 stars is its because it's clean.. Some staff are friendly and they have coffee brewed which is important to me. I come from a place that always has great customer service. This spot.. You can never get fresh towels. You always have to go down to get them from the front desk. There is a sign in the bathroom stating that towels are replaced during housekeeping times. Well guess what? The cart was right in front of my room...and they still would not replace them. Still made me go downstairs. On top of all this, front desk is closed during the night. A security guard has to let you in for supposedly safety reasons. But each night after a long tiresome day, the gaurd is more of a bother. First night, even after showing all our room keys, gaurd was very unpleasant and unwelcoming. Every night after that, he just gives us dirty looks as if we are tyrants. It makes us feel very awkward coming back to the place we are staying. So if yohere. looking for a clean place to stay, this place would be for you. They have everything you need in the rooms such as pots and pans, a stove, fridge and microwave. First trip to Alaska and we stayed here. The place is not filthy, nor is it full of bugs. It's not the best experience I've ever had in a motel. You have to beg for towels and everything you need everyday. Big turn off for me. I'm paying to be treated like a guest, not a child. To top the experience off, you have to accommodate to 'their schedule and terms' to get a paper receipt. Which is required for me to turn into my work office. My flight was at 6 am. I had to crash early for a 4,500 mile trip consisting of 21 hrs of plane rides. I was told that I couldn't get a receipt until after 11 pm. I tried to explain that I was crashing out for the night and getting rested for the flight. She said I could pick it up after 6 am. She told me that she couldn't slide it under the door for me due to "safety protocols", of leave it on the desk to pick up on my way out. I'm very positive my next work trip up here won't lead me back to this place. I'm not a beggar and I'm not very good at being dictated when I'm paying for services. Not impressed with the establishment or the customer sucky service. Not very appealing to me. read more

This is a new hotel and was very clean. Friendly staff up front. The kitchenette was very useful to us. They even had a toaster and full size refrig. On the down side the bed was bouncy like a trampoline and the window curtain lets in lots of light (poor curtain design for a place where dark happens at 1130pm... not good). Large parking lot and easy to get to. No breakfast up front, just coffee (nice taste), hot water for tea and cocoa. read more

Ok let me explain myself, lol for Kenai it is 5 stars, best your gonna get that I know of (if someone knows better please let me know). Overall it is more like a 2 star hotel. It is your average extended stay: suite, queen or double beds, refrigerator, microwave, two burner stove, basic kitchen supplies. Fresh coffee every morning in the lobby. Pretty good (not a major coffee drinker but it works for everyone else I am with as well) Small fitness center on-site: 2 tread-mills, 1 eliptical (unstable), 1 weight (all-in-one) machine, cable tv. Nice and quaint (2 -3 people max comfort) Wash/Dryer on-site, maid service is only weekly. Self service for the most part (towels, etc), must go to the front desk to get what you need. Rooms are updated, clean, bed is firm-comfortable for me, cable tv, dvd player. read more

I stayed here recently for a week while visiting family and was very happy. The kitchenette was an absolute lifesaver - full fridge with freezer, toaster, coffee maker and stove top with all the necessary dishes. Room was clean and spacious, the staff is friendly and helpful, location convenient to the Kenai airport and rental car agencies, 3 grocery stores, a handful of fast food options and a Holiday gas station. Lots of local restaurants (don't miss Veronica's Coffee House in Old Town Kenai), the visitor center, and two disc golf courses. I had to put in a maintenance request for the stove top and it was promptly fixed the next day while I was out. My only complaint was that the pillows were TOO thick (I know, the girl at the desk couldn't believe it either), but a quick trip to the Walmart across the street and some $3 pillows = problem solved. I cannot speak for actually staying at the hotel. but be aware they are not the most orginaized hotel when it comes to reservations. I booked online on May 8 for a business stay on May 27-30. I called on May 26 to shorten may stay to one night, within the 24 hrs cancellation policy, and I find out they don't have a reservation for me for May 27-30, their records say I stayed there on May 8 and charged my company credit card for that night. After they investigated their online records, they stated they would fix their error for the May 8 charge but are sold out for May 27 and I would have to find another place to stay. This would have been a major inconvience if I had showed up there and didn't have a hotel room but since it was a day before, I found friends to stay with instead and no big deal. I thought all of this was behind me when I get a call the morning of 5/29 from my company travel planner asking if I am going to be a no show for my 5/29 stay as well?! This catches me off guard and immediately call the hotel to try and get this straightened out...surprise, their records show I stayed there May 27-30 and they are charging my company credit card again and they will not give me credit because they have no records of me calling to cancel(EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A CREDIT FROM THEM ON MAY 26 - THE DAY BEFORE MY STAY WAS SUPPOSED TO START...I guess they just realized their error and gave me credit without being asked). My company will pay it and life goes on, but I would imagine if a guest showed up from the L48 and didn't have a reservation because they charged you on the wrong night in error and were sold out on the night you actually needed a bed...it would present a big problem (and to top it off find out they charged you anyway and won't refund your money would make a great Alaska vacation story). Like I said, I can't speak for the hotel itself...I'm sure it's a nice place from the other reviews on here, but just be cautious when you book a room online and/or cancel. Have to give this place 2 stars, the beds were terribly uncomfortable and the pillows absolutely horrible! Toilet clogged and took maintenance 6 hrs to brig a plunger!!! Stayed for a week and overall the kitchen-net was great but for the price we paid, could have definitely done better. read more

We originally booked our stay for 2 nights. When we got their we were pleased with the room size the pull out coach and kitchen that was available. However the furnace was so loud when it kicked on to heat the room you couldn't hear each other talk. Needless to say we kept it on low at night so it wouldn't kick on as much. We woke up the next morning to NO HOT WATER. When I spoke to the front desk I was informed they had 2 small hot water tanks and over 300 rooms. We decided to cancel our 2nd night reservation and opted for a late check out at noon ( hoping for hot water). At Noon there was Still NO HOT WATER. No coffee no continental breakfast and no atm for the vending machines. read more

First room stank of bleach and second room has numerous hairs all around the bathroom including some big gross pubic hairs. Maid is either blind or just doesn't give a Sh!t. But as someone else said probably the best town which is sad. read more

Aspen Suites is very clean and the staff is accommodating. We stayed for a week while we were exploring the Wildlife Refuge. Having a kitchen made life so much easier. It was well stocked with cooking utensils. There were 2 comfortable chairs and a good sized table that was great for working. The other great surprise was the lighting-there was plenty of it. There was a lamp by every chair or work surface. I would definitely go there again. read more
