I hired Asphalt Paving by G.W. to pave my driveway in September 2025. Choosing a paving contractor is not a decision I took lightly. I obtained multiple estimates and ultimately chose this company because I believed they would provide the best quality work. At first, the driveway appeared acceptable aside from a few minor imperfections that I chose to overlook because nothing is perfect. However, by January, serious problems began to appear. The upper parking area developed significant heaving, and numerous depressions and sinkholes formed where vehicles were parked. After every rainstorm, these areas fill with large puddles, making the defects impossible to ignore. I also began noticing extensive cracking throughout the driveway. The lime from the crushed concrete base started leaching through the cracks and staining the asphalt white. During a heavy rainstorm, water entered my garage because the driveway was pitched toward my house. The area near the road is in especially poor condition, with cracked edges and large sections that are sinking and deteriorating. One cracked area became so concerning that I dug around it myself and found asphalt that was not even 3/4 inch thick. The driveway was supposed to be installed at 2 1/2 inches and rolled to approximately 2 inches. I contacted Ramsey in February, and he came out in March to inspect the driveway. To my surprise, he did not believe there was much wrong with it and suggested sending a crew to patch a couple of cracks. The issues are far more extensive than a few cracks. I tried to work with the company to find a reasonable solution, but that has not happened. A driveway should not be failing after only a few months. I thought I had chosen the right company, but based on my experience, I was wrong. I cannot recommend Asphalt Paving by GW. read more

After arriving at my home, they were both delightful and quickly began to assess the scope of the job with expertise. Bubba explained the entire process and the time it would most likely take to complete the job. After completion, Bubba asked me to walk the driveway with him to show the completion, quality, and to identify any concerns I might have. The entire driveway appeared evenly sealed, and Bubba informed me that if I had any problems in the future, I should call him and he would resolve all unexpected issues. Paid $8000 for a 3" thick driveway. It's now only. 2 1/2 years old and cracking and failing. Called another paving guy who informed me the driveway that was supposed to be 3" was in fact only 1" thick. No wonder why it's failing. They did my driveway October of 2016. They underestimated the amount of square footage it was (even after I asked them are you sure because other companies estimated roughly 1000 sq. Ft. More) and at the end of the job guilted me into paying an additional 500 because of the extra material it took. Only reason I paid was because it looked beautiful and I was happy with how quick it happened and the fact that they were the cheapest of the 5 quotes I got. The real reason I'm rating them a two star is because the driveway has been failing ever since about two months after they put it down. All the edges have cracked and some spots in the middle. A few months ago they made a repair to one cracked section (even though there were many more cracked edges) and it is already separated again. I can see that they only put down less than 1 inch of asphault and that is the reason it is cracking. I'm not very happy that a $14,500 driveway is going to have to be done again so soon. Beware: poor quality, poor customer service, does not honor warranty. George is good at selling, has quality equipment, but he nor his father stand by their word. He promised several inches thick pavement, a warranty for several years, and excellent customer service. None of those were delivered. He never fixed any of the issues I advised him of that occurred after just months. I've reached out several times. The only time he came back was to try to sell me more work. Job was done on 8/6/20. At first I was in love with the job. Driveway looked great, even posted amazing reviews online. 8/16/20 first time using driveway or parking on it. Two days later noticed under wear tired laid, crumbles of asphalt. Reached out to Ramsey. Without looking stated these were tire marks. I expressed concern about this being more. He stated for us to continue using and that they would be out the following week t look at it. Following Monday they were here, but Ramsey was not interested in hearing our concerns. Instead they had a worker re-roll the driveway with the big roller. This cause more stretch marks, and squished down the raised edges, making the edges no longer straight and neat. We were told that their dad George would come out the next day to look at it. Next day no show, no call. Called Ramsey, he became very disrespectful screaming at me through the phone. I reminded him three times to stop as I was not raising my voice to him. He hung up on me, but later texted an apology. The older brother (Justin) and Ramsey then came out again later in the week. This time I recorded the conversation and have the older brother on record stating that this shouldn't be happening and he needs to think about how he is going to fix it. When prompted with them having the experience to complete a job on a slopped driveway, he stated that they could have used more asphalt or a different grade, but it would have cost more. I replied with "those options were not presented to me." Ramsey once again got loud, he insulted me and screamed, to the point that I stated I was going to call the police to resolve this. He didn't care. He left. Justin the older brother asked me to give it a couple of days to let things settle and that he would speak with George Stanley (his father) about the situation so that it can be resolved. Over the last few weeks, I have reached out to Justin, 5 times, following up about when this will happen and have been given various excuses (funeral, and busy). I have now filed a formal complaint with the CT BBB, and have sought legal counsel in this matter. Their unprofessionalism needs to be addressed, as well as their quality in product.
