Nov 26, 2024…read more My dad has been a resident at GCV since July 2022. He was also a rehab patient in the TCU in Nov 2019. My mom was admitted to The Cove, Memory Care in Dec 2023. After more than two years, I can truly say I wouldn't have my parents any other place. From the Reception team; who pay attention to everything around them, know where people should be (and who belongs to who) and answer questions while directing someone and securing the main doors as well. Angel is aways willing to go above and beyond, even beyond the 'lines' of her role, to do that little extra that really differentiates exceptionalism. To the Housekeeping team; Who are continually attending to cleaning, mopping, wiping tables and surfaces to keep things clean & Fresh. Recently, one of the residents attempted walkabout thru the secured doors, when the Nurse called out for help - Yaneya was the first person to respond, securing her cart, and running to help out. True teamwork in action. The Activity Team; Such a vital role in the satisfaction of the residents! recently doing an activity, and in between the actual game they were playing, Aimee managed to walk around to all the residents and engage each one individually, even the ones who were not 'at the table' so to speak. She truly has a gift, and her positive energy is unparalleled. She makes everyone feel welcomed, engaged, and valued. She truly has a gift in that she meets each resident where they are, and brings them OUT to be happier, and brighter and engaged. With the different ability levels of the residents, I know it is challenging for her, yet she does it with Joy and laughter. Laughter being a key and vital role in the happiness of the residents. She takes time to engage with each resident and family, with hugs, touch, laughter and fun activities. Her energy is infectious, and you can see how the residents really respond to her because of it. The Nutrition Team; I am impressed with the level of compassion shown in the organization for the dining experience. From the Bistro, greeting the residents, to serving them a 3 course meal, Then bringing the meal ticket and discussion the menu, what would they prefer to eat? It just shows such gentleness and care and a huge level of respect for the residents to make them feel 'normal' and not a burden or a number. You can see how this impacts the residents and gives them a feeling of 'going Out to Lunch/Dinner', either with the ladies, or those dining at mixed group tables. I have overheard Trina encouraging a resident telling her how great she looks, how nice it was to see her back, how much better she must be feeling, how well she was eating, etc. like a favored customer in Their favorite restaurant, NOT a Nursing home resident. To the Room other common-room diners, Who get a warm tray, with a nicely presented meal, with soup and dessert, and have their meal set up pleasantly for them, and assisting them if necessary. And all this while you are monitoring their food intake, managing the varying levels of eating ability, and ensuring appropriate nursing care has eyes on. And the Care Team; Early on when Mom was first admitted I was having trouble with the degradation of her condition. On one particularly hard day when I was having trouble holding it together, Nurse Carol was watching me, came over and asked if She could give me a hug. She then proceeded to tell me that it was all OK, that Mom would be fine...and that I would be as well. This is so characteristic of her kind nature and amazing compassion. Watching her residents, caring for them efficiently, yet watching everything else that is going on as well. She is finely attuned to her residents needs and for example, if she sees that mom seems to be in pain, she is ready for some extra care, and meds if necessary. I see only positive interactions between the Care team in the Cove. By conversation and body language you can tell that there is a great respect and Team focus. Especially for the Memory care residents, who are so susceptible to undercurrents, this is vital to the calm flow of care they receive. Carol, Fabi, Islene, Joaner, Yvetta, Nosi, Karenia, Vicky and several others work very well together, and their residents benefit immensely from their Team Focus. The Nurses and CNA's are extremely attentive and work hard to keep their residents cared for and safe. Thank you GCV - for what you do....and most especially, how you do it.

I was pleased with how she was treated. I was particularly impressed with dealing with the social worker office who advised me of her insurance coverage. She received quality care during her 20 day visit. Dining for the guests is very nice. Many residents eat in their room but my friend chose to eat in the Bistro dining room. She made friends quickly and on severely occasions I had lunch or dinner myself there and was required as a guest to pay nominal fee but the servers told they couldn't accept a gratuity. The staff was always pleasant and patient with the guests.

My therapist/trainer and the de facto team leader of this facility, Lucas was right by my side every step of the way with helpful advise and a slow, steady and consistent approach that got me moving functionally again without pushing me too hard as to re aggravate my injury. I got to know the whole staff while I was there and I can assure you their positive attitudes are contagious! I really enjoyed getting to know all therapists and assistant trainers at this location. I had a chance to work with Troy, Amy, Madison, Nicole at one point or another and they were all very knowledgeable and helpful! Karen and Kayla at the office/front desk always made billing and scheduling a breeze. Convenient location just a half block off of Del Prado in central Cape Coral with plenty of safe parking for my nice truck in a private lot exclusively for APT clients. My mother has been a resident in Memory Care at The Gallery at Cape Coral, formerly The Waters,…read moresince Jan 2023. Frankly, I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. My family and I are here very nearly every day, at all different times, so we see all different shifts, departments and activities. The nursing staff and care givers are AMAZING; warm, competent, PATIENT, professional, fun, engaging and very loving to the residents. From the drivers, to the therapists, activities, facilities team, front desk staff, housekeeping, sales & marketing...they all have a moment for a quick word, a hug, a laugh, a warm smile. The staff operates as a team, focusing on each individual resident and their life enrichment. Of course, at times issues occur. They are dealt with quickly and any necessary changes made with little drama. I have witnessed the Director of Nursing giving clear and direct correction to the team - and yet still with a respectful, compassionate and team/resident focused attitude. While safety is paramount, unfortunately there are occasional accidents / falls. They clearly have tight policies in place, and the staff react IMMEDIATELY; often running to help, quickly assessing the situation, calling for appropriate nursing assistance, and securing EMT'S if necessary. They also manage the other residents keeping them supervised and calm, while handling the emergency. There was a fall recently, and the med tech reacted to the unusual loud SOUND, before even the resident called out. He and another CNA stayed with the resident, the Director of Nursing was there within 2 minutes, and the EMT's were on scene within about 6 minutes. The reception team always have a kind word to say and a warm welcome. My brother, who lives out of state, visited in Nov. He was warmly greeted by Leon, who remembered him even though his last visit was in February. Leon is also regularly found playing chess with a resident, while he is watching the door, working the phones, etc. When you walk past the front desk and find the Director of Nursing covering the desk because the receptionist requested to attend the funeral of a resident that speaks volumes about the team environment and resident/family focus of this facility. The facility itself is lovely, and they truly use the entire place. They have everything available to the residents, and although mom is on the Memory Care side, we often share in the Assisted Living events, meals, bus trips, etc. They are truly inclusive and make accommodations for all the residents to enjoy and live their best life. The activities are a major focus for us, and this is very key to Mom's happiness. There are loads of things scheduled all day long and they do their best to keep the residents engaged both mentally & physically, with ability-appropriate activities, or just inclusion for those unable to participate. Stimulating music, sing a longs, dancing, bingo, arts & crafts, decorating, garden club, nail care/manicures, pet therapy, bowling, axe-throwing (a BIG favorite), movies and so many more keep the residents engaged and active. When my mom sees the activities director and walks away from me to hug HER it warms my heart. Additionally, Jodi goes and gets Mom and the residents she knows want to participate, plus encouraging the others to come today to check it out. Inclusive, fun, joyful, and engaging. As well as summer picnics, dinner dances, bus rides, lunch outings, the facility also has special events planned around the holidays. These always include getting the residents dressed up and groomed just a bit more special...whether the families are there or not. They go to great lengths to make this 'home' for each person. They check on mom two to three times each night, often two CNA's together, changing her if she needs it and making sure she is comfortable and resting well. The dining room is lovely and set up well, the food excellent, and they serve as if you are at your favorite restaurant. And while memory care needs special considerations in their dining room and isn't as 'fancy' it is still wonderful and completely appropriate for the clientele. The residents are given appropriate choices, and yet their preferences are noted, so if they are unable to answer they are still served as if they did. IF someone has trouble eating, the staff will feed them, gently and with kindness. And if someone is perhaps ill or just needs a little special treatment, a different meal, Burger, BLT, grilled cheese, is provided. We researched quite a few places before deciding on placement. Mom has thrived under the care provided here, as have so many of the residents, and I am grateful I found this place at this time in her life.

My mother, who has been living in an assisted living apartment at Terracina Grand for the past 6…read moreyears moved to The Gardens at Terracina Health and Rehabilitation after she had a stroke. We spent a long time looking for the right place for her and were happy to have found this one. My Mom is 91 years old and has had frequent hospitalizations in the past 10 years and we are so grateful for the care and patience with which she has been treated for this extended period of time. She has several physical therapists and occupational therapists in both the Gardens as well as her apartment at Terracina Grand and they always work with her to build up her strength and get back to a normal way of life. She has been in a wheelchair ever since her stroke but there are always enough CNAs and Nurses who monitor her medication and get her to and from the bathroom, as well as work with her when she has problems swallowing. The food is very good particularly at the Gardens and even though it sometimes must be softened so that she can easily eat it, she is usually able to rehabilitate herself with the help of the wonderful people who attend her there. We couldn't be happier than to have a place such as The Gardens for Mom to recuperate in until she is strong enough to go back to a more independent lifestyle which is available at Terracina Grand.

Luckily we visited Brookdale Assisted Living in Punta Gorda, Florida. After meeting with the staff and taking a tour, Dad and I felt we'd found the perfect place to meet our needs. I'm so glad we did. Brookdale is a small community with a family atmosphere. All of the staff go above and beyond. They even assist Dad making FaceTime calls to me. Jessica, who is the Health and Wellness director, calls me regularly with updates on Dad. I can't offer enough praises of Brookdale Assisted living in Punta Gorda, Florida.

A Few months later my loved one was rushed to emergency where she coded but was revived. Her hemoglobin was 2.5 (should be 13-15). Nursing home staff failed to notice she was bleeding internally when changing her diaper. She spent two weeks in ICU & another week in step down unit. We put her into a different nursing home. Hoping for better care.

From the moment my mom arrived, she was attended to medically. She came from back to back…read morehospitalizations with a negative experience at a different physical therapy center that did not put interest in her care. At Aviata on Santa Barbara, she was properly triaged upon arriving by a Haitian nurse named Joseph. She felt comfortable with him and was comforted when he spoke Spanish to her. I think as well, the diverse staff, including those she was familiar with in Miami, help her connect as she acclimated. In less than a week, I see so much progress as the physical therapy team is helping her regain her confidence. She has spinal fusion surgery and has become fearful to walk, that is further compounded by her physical considerations and a weak knee. Nonetheless and despite her yelling for help from her bed, a trauma response from the hospital who operated her initially and left her on a stretcher in a room with no call button or urine bag post op, she developed this survival response. I found that expressing this helps the staff exercise emotional intelligence in simply reassuring her, she is in a safe place and they are building her confidence and that trust, that I believe will subside the response. She hasn't walked in three months or showered, and the team here helped us get those things going, and I feel hopeful that I will be able to get us on a cruise to PR to meet with her friends in San Juan. I will adjust my review to provide names of the kind-hearted and patient professionals helping my mom get to the other side of this. Jon M. leads the physical therapy team. Do not let his youthful appearance fool you. He brings the right experience, with his team, to help people tap into their inner strength. This facility is awful!!!! My aunt was there for three days, only because that's how long it took…read moreto find another place for her to go. The staff, while friendly, are clueless about patient care. They put diapers on alert and oriented patients then tell them to pee themselves. The worst part is they lay in the pee for hours, or if you complain enough, they put you on a bedpan and then leave you on it for hours. Some don't get changed for the entire shift. We had the unfortunate luck of arriving on a weekend. When they left my aunt wet in pee for 6 hours, which included her new surgical dressings, and not responding to the call assist light, I requested to speak to someone from Management. The nurse tried to tell me she was management for the weekend, and I insisted on speaking with someone above her pay grade. Finally, I talked to Tara (Director of Nursing) on the phone, who was rude and abrupt. She lied to me and my aunt and has no business managing anyone, distraught family members. I could write a book on the things I saw and the things we experienced, but I believe you can decipher the message. This facility needs to be shut down. The care is horrid, and management isn't much better.

He is in Skilled…read moreNursing and I they definitely DO NOT have enough help to meet the needs of the few patients they have, especially on weekends. I do my husband's laundry because of allergies to liquid soap and have posted three signs up in his room to this effect. Unfortunately some of his clothes turn up missing, plus I find things in his drawer which are NOT his. I also purchased Pads to be used on his wheelchair with his room number on them, they disappear on a regular basis and the search must go on. Today when I arrived my husband was half shaved, teeth not brushed and sometimes I find him wet. On Sunday we had him out for 2 1/2 hours. Upon returning he wanted to take a nap. We rang for a CNA, after twenty minutes one came into the room and we were told they were ALL eating lunch and we would have to wait. After another half hour, I had a friend help me assist him with a dry diaper and put him in bed. As I was leaving two CNA's were walking out of the room next door with a scale. I guess it is more important to weigh someone then to make sure that the clients are clean and dry. All these issues might seem minor, but when we are talking about the man I love, his care is NOT minor.
