On the strength of this, I booked a follow up visit for my return for some clearly much-needed physical therapy. That proved to be a mistake. The session was extremely painful, which I suffered through under the delusion that it would result in improvement the next day. Reality was the exact opposite: I could barely walk or function the following day, and had to cancel an appointment in the city because I could not travel. Because this clinic only operate three days a week, the desperate voicemail I left seeking helpwas not return, even when the clinic reopened. Also, the twice promised list of relief stretches was never provided. They don't seem to monitor their voicemail very well: I canceled my following appointment, Which news they never received or acknowledged. His exercises to strengthen certain areas are very precise, and targets weak areas. Some exercises he's designed himself. I went to him somewhat distressed about my neck and back, and thanks to his amazing compassion and patience for his patients, I always left his office feeling peaceful and aided. Later, I went to Alex for a chronically sprained ankle, and I was equally satisfied with the results. His assistant, Yuliya, is also extremely competent and kind. They both speak Russian, Alex, raised in Brooklyn, is an absolute diamond in the sand. My only regret is that Alex doesn't have his own practice, and that you have to go to Brooklyn to see him. I went in the following day 06/06/25 and was given a tour by the manager. I informed her that I was interested in aqua therapy and she asked which insurance did I have. I informed her and she said yes we accept Emblem GHI. Again....great! Arrived to my appointment on 06/11/25 and provided my insurance information again with a cash copay which I paid but wasn't informed prior that they only accept cash. I saw a male therapist (who didn't introduce himself). He asked me about my health condition and did a less than 5 minute evaluation. He never took me into a private room to assess my range of motion (I've had multiple therapy sessions and the initial evaluation was always done privately). He then said we have to get authorization from your insurance company. I asked approximately how long will that take. He said about two days, I said okay and left. I waited patiently and decided to give them a call on 06/17/25. I called and spoke with someone who said that the manager will call me back in about an hour....no call. I called back 06/18/25 and informed the person about my call the previous day and did not receive a call back. She said the manager will call you back in a few minutes.....no call. I called about 2 1/2 hours later stressing the important of obtaining some information. She said hold on and then came back and said we don't accept your insurance. WHAT!!! I wonder at what point were they going to inform me and at what point during the two weeks did they realize that they did not accept my insurance. For the past four plus years, Yuriy has been an extraordinary part of my journey through three major surgeries, countless months of rehabilitation, setbacks, uncertainty, frustration, and, ultimately, an outcome I once wondered if I would ever achieve: I am walking independently again and getting my life back!!! My journey was anything but straightforward. My first surgery was unfortunately not successful, and took multiple consultations to finally understand something was seriously wrong. The problem was so complicated surgeon after surgeon essentially told me they would not attempt to correct it because of the potential damage to my body to fix it. During all the uncertainty, Yuriy was there and he never gave up. Yuriy brought an extraordinary combination of knowledge, experience, patience, kindness, professionalism, compassion, and hands-on care to every single session. He paid attention, listened and watched my progress--or, at times, my lack of progress--and he cared deeply about understanding why I wasn't getting better. There were certainly moments when Yuriy became frustrated but his frustration was never with me. It was with the fact he could see something wasn't right, and he couldn't figure out what was preventing me from progressing. He cared even when the answer wasn't immediately apparent. There were many times over those years I cried. Yuriy always managed to stay strong even when I was overwhelmed, discouraged, or simply exhausted from the long road. But there were also a few very special moments when I saw his own eyes had welled up with tears. Those moments have stayed with me because they showed me just how deeply he cared. He wasn't simply watching a patient struggle--he was emotionally invested in helping a person find her way back. Eventually, after seeing multiple highly regarded surgeons at top NY hospitals, I finally found a courageous surgeon at HSS willing to take on the enormous challenge of correcting what had gone wrong. I underwent additional major surgeries, each followed by many months of PT. And through all of it, Yuriy was there. He adjusted... adapted... encouraged and challenged me when I needed to be and celebrated the smallest victories along the way. One of the things which makes Yuriy even more remarkable to me is he is a husband and proud father of three, and yet somehow he still brings an extraordinary amount of energy, patience, and genuine compassion to his work every day. I have had the privilege of watching him interact with other patients and it is clear the care he has shown me is not something he reserves for one. He cares deeply about all his patients. I would be remiss if I didn't recognize the INCREDIBLE team surrounding Yuriy. Appointment: when it comes to your appointment, you have 30 minutes! EXACTLY 30 MINUTES from your appointment time NOT from the time you arrived! So don't be late because you are taking time away from other babies and it's not fair! To be honest, I think that is a great way to operate especially when you arrive with a baby! There is never a wait and you can plan your babies schedule accordingly. And YES 30 MIN is enough, you might feel like it's not enough time BUT that is all your child can handle and Rimma, the physical therapist, makes use of the entire time you are with her! She sends us home with print outs of the exercises that we can do at home and lots of amazing advice.
