I've been in some variation of the home health care business as I've owned and operated specialty infusion pharmacies and nursing agencies for many years before my parents became too feeble to go it alone. Having lived 4 hours away in Kansas City, I was apprehensive about who we chose for assistance. I was extremely picky. I actually worked very close with the owner, Tom Conti in choosing our caregivers. My goal was to get the right match of a caregiver for mom & dad. Tom was extremely sensitive to our goals. He introduced us to several caregivers giving us the chance to conduct one-on-one interviews. We were able to do this in mom and dad's house. There was no pressure either way - Griswold just wanted us to have what we were desiring. It didn't take very long to pick out a perfect match. Her name was Rachael. She cared for our parents for several years until the recent passing of both of them. Tom and his team religiously dropped by the house just to say hello and chat or even bring a fresh cooked pie or flowers. Rachael basically became the equivalent of a family member to us. Griswold and Tom Conti also are considered family. They were there for us at all of the critical times - holidays - birthdays and yes - even the funerals. I can't imagine any provider being more attentive to our needs and I can't imagine having gone through this ordeal without them. Again, I've been in the business for 40 years. I know the difference between mediocrity and excellence. The Griswold - St. Charles Office met all of our expectations and by far exceeded them. We felt they operated at the highest level of integrity at all times and at no time did we ever feel mom or dad were at risk. The e-bills come from a random email address that looks like a scam, and when you log onto their website you are informed that there is a $6 fee PER TRANSACTION to pay online (I have an employer-provided HSA debit card and use that). If you want to pay over the phone, or even check to make sure the bill is valid forget it. They do not pick up the phone when you call, the voicemail even says they don't - they will call back within 2 business days. If you give them your work hours they will make sure they call while you're at work, so they don't have to talk to you. I am now forced to rely on my health insurance statement to reconcile these bills since, as another poster pointed out, they don't itemize their bills. Only tell you the penalties if you don't pay up. This company's lack of transparency, and inadequate customer support considering they bill monthly, is not good.

Every time I'd call back I'd be told that the "problem was resolved" and I "shouldn't worry." Fast forward to January 2024 and I have now received a collections letter for over $1400. Turns out, that after one year of no services - BJC home health care NEVER figured out how to bill my insurance company. The $1400 is some kind of random amount that was sent without me receiving any services or supplies. Nor did I ever receive a statement. Just a letter from a collections company. Stay away from this company at all costs! It is a terrible home health company.

Between other family members I have probably been to at least two dozen area senior care centers (from alright to not acceptable). None of them come close to the care our mother has received here. I called many other facilities that had a continuum of care and they all said that our mother would be skilled nursing (because she requires help transferring and dressing) which would be $6,000+ per month for a shared one room. St. Agnes said they thought they could get her to improve and be more independent and they were right. Here she has her own studio apartment. They are genuinely concerned about all aspects (physical, mental and spiritual) of our mother's wellbeing. She has been here only a month and we have already seen a physical and mental improvement in her. The nuns are very compassionate and coordinate every aspect of her care.
