One of the best edited men's store. I was told not to touch and pull out things by another storekeeper. It is a place where you are served. Joe assisted me with my purchase of seersucker shorts. It is a haven for preps but with a twist. Shorts have Floridian themes -- geikos and marlins but there are other wondeful items for us Northern swamp dwellers in DC. Joe also provided other helpful tips to dress like a gentleman. As I was shopping, a woman entered and said this is the best store in KW. read more

Sadly, after reading previous reviews and making an effort two afternoons in a row to shop here, I must express my disappointment. The first day I arrived before 4 PM and the door was locked. A sign indicated they planned to close at 4 PM the next day for Independence Day. On independence day I arrived at about 4 PM and entered the door only to be told that they were closed. Clearly, they did not want or need my business and will not ever get it as a result of their rude and inconsiderate attitude. read more

Excellent selection of traditional southern prep menswear with a contemporary twist. Their customer service is excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly. Absolutely worth a stop in. I stumbled upon this store several years ago on a side street off of Duval while on vacation and I could not believe the quality and variety of unique-patterned and colored menswear, and how much merchandise they were able to comfortably pack into such a small space. This store reminds me of a fine wine shop that contracts with small vineyards with a story behind each wine -- they have all these small designer and mom-and-pop brands where they have formed relationships with the owners and they give you a personal story behind each brand, about the owner/designer, the fact they they custom designed a tie at a certain width just for them or a pant in a certain pattern at their request, etc. They also carry brands like Peter Millar. I just went back this month for vacation and went straight back to this store. Only one of the owners was on the premises (Claude) but had recalled my being there years before and helping me outfit my teenager in a couple shirts, and even remembered where I was from. Anyway, I highly recommend this store and its very kind and knowledgeable owners, I wish we had a store like this in DC! It is not cheap but fair price for quality. read more

One of the best menswear stores in the entire South. Claude and Joe do an amazing job of finding just the right assortment of higher end pieces that mix preppy, casual Friday, and island wear into an amazingly comfortable and clean look. I get more compliments back in Atlanta on things I buy at Assortment than anything else in my wardrobe. It's one of the few times in my life that I'm thankful for credit card limits; otherwise, I would ask them to wrap up the store and ship it to me. read more

the shopkeeper is very selective about who he will serve. His comment upon glancing at me was "sorry, I don't have anything in your size". Really? a 32" waist size is pretty standard for a 'well stocked' clothing store. It wasn't the size. Yes, I was casually dressed, and looking for some upscale clothing. He didn't bother to find out, I would avoid his selective services. read more
