Worked for Assurant under a secondary office in a temp role that was supposed to go permanent, but it was a total joke. The job was micromanaged to death--10-12 hour shifts, two 15-minute breaks, and a 30-minute lunch. Everything was monitored, and if you waited for help, they'd call it 'call avoidance.' Supervisors barely showed up, always calling off, and team leads took forever to respond. If anybody was doing call avoidance it was the managers and leads. You're doing team lead work but getting paid minimum wage. This company is a disaster. Despite hitting over 95 in quality scores, I got laid off with no warning or reason. They claimed 'call avoidance' just because I was waiting for a response or reading a case. The only month I didn't hit the quality score was when I was one point shy--94--and that was still held against me. They said "If your mom didn't pass away, we would've fired you" a month later, they let me go and couldn't even provide a notice. They treat temp workers like crap, and it's obvious they're just waiting to find any excuse to get rid of you. No coaching, no notice, and even the agency wasn't told why I was let go. Waste of time. I and my wife bought this insurance from T-Mobile - for $36 a month for two of us with new iPhones about 2 years ago .Recently i misplaced my phone and file a claim . They promised next day delivery and took 250$ deductible for reburnished phone"24 month x$36 total 864$ I paid plus 250 dedactable it total a $ 1114 for used phone . Plus next day I found my phone and they send a replacement with a regular mail . IT Took 5 days to get a phone all this time they block my phone. The adjuster basically laughed at me as I was crying on the phone after they offered me pennies on my policy because they IGNORED half of what was on my list, would not call or email me back to answer any questions regarding my policy or how to help me recover the damages, offered to pay me TO CLEAN MY PROTEIN AND COLLAGEN POWDERS THAT WERE IN THE FIRE. Assurant , are you going to pay my medical bills after I inject these? I wouldn't count on it since you want me to use all of my cosmetics after a fire! Absolutely terrible service from Assurant. This has been a battle every step of the way since we discovered the bathroom was leaking under the floor. We are now done with the mold remediation and waiting for the rebuild. However, Assurant is having second thoughts on actually covering the claim and sent the same independent adjuster out to our house to verify something (what are they verifying, you ask? No one knows - not even the adjuster). Our house is in pieces and NO ONE at Assurant will return our calls and there is NO ESCALATION PROCESS. To add insult to injury, the mold remediation provider is considering putting a lien on my home due to the insurance non-payment for over a month. I'm considering consulting an attorney because this is coverage we paid for to provide for unforeseen events such as this. We didn't pay for games - nor are we interested in playing. They do not protect landlords or additional insured parties!! I called my representative Bryan (ext. 403-0280) to receive reimbursement for paying for my tenant's temporary housing. He did not answer his phone during the entire week in his office hours. I have all the receipts and was directed by other customer service representatives to send an email, but we ultimately had to wait for Bryan - our assigned adjuster. He wouldn't help at all or assist us, quoting "it has nothing to do with me" even though he was the one responsible. I worked with him saying that I'll work on it internally with my tenant, but they should send some proof that they paid the tenant for her temporary housing, or else this is essentially fraud as she gets to dip on both ends: having landlord pay for temporary housing while getting paid compensation by her renter's insurance. My tenant even told me she got paid by Assurant. Bryan refused to send any written evidence to assist landlords who are paying out of pocket. Extremely unprofessional, has an attitude, poor customer service, essentially committing fraud having Assurant pay the insured party and allowing them to pocket it. It was only after I left a very poor review on Yelp that I received any sort of response and was finally able to go over the claim details with my adjuster. However, when I gave him an updated address to which to send the claim check, he got the city wrong. Trying to reach them to figure out where the check is and to change the address has been near impossible. Again, I am constantly being sent to voicemail when I call and my emails go unanswered. Every time I talk to a live representative, I am told that the adjuster is the only one who is available to change the address and reissue a check, which doesn't work if he never answers his calls! read more

I am writing to express my extreme frustration and disappointment with the service I have received from this company. Despite my patience and understanding of your workload, I have been waiting for multiple months to receive my check. What's even more unacceptable is that this is the second time that the check has been sent with incorrect information, causing further delay and financial hardship for me. The first error was sending the check to the wrong address, which I had previously clarified was no longer my residence. The second error was including my ex-wife as a payee on the check, despite her not being associated with my account or residing in the same state. Our claim is nearly 2 years old at this point. Despite Assurant acknowledging that they owe us money for this claim, we still have not received payment. My husband and I have probably sent hundreds of emails and voicemails trying to get to the bottom of this. This company does not respond to any of our emails. This company is absolutely terrible and has all the makings of a scam. I pray that nobody ever has to deal with the scum that makes up this company, who clearly avoids as much as they can to pay settlements out, which is... an aspect of doing business. I was hit by a car in January, and they dodged every call of mine they possibly could. After months of trying to call, they finally got back to me and agreed on a settlement after I kept trying to push through with various lines of communication. A month later after finally agreeing on the settlement, the settlement comes in, but they completely ignore the medical costs that I was told I'd receive. Guess what, I am back to square one where I am constantly calling them every day until somebody responds, which seems to never happen. For having office hours from 8-5 M-F, they sure are never at their desks to answer any calls, considering I am always calling within that period. People at Assurant constantly try to connect me/forward me throughout the company during my phone calls, but nobody ever answers. read more

After 6 years as a renters insurance client, I had a fire in my apartment and saw Assurant's true terrible colors. A fire in my kitchen destroyed or damaged most of my kitchen and nearby stuff. The stuff that wasn't totally burned up still was affected by the fire, extreme heat, and/or significant smoke. This included various electronics, medications, and food. The whole thing was traumatic but this is why I have renters insurance, right? I took 100+ pictures and painstakingly submitted them on the Assurant claim website, which only allowed me to submit 6 images at a time. Four times I had to start over due to website errors. It also requested I enter items manually into the website despite me already spending significant time on a detailed spreadsheet. I eventually had to submit that by email along with the report from the fire station. But I powered through it all and filed the claim. I got a settlement response offering a payment amount of approximately 20% of what I claimed. Despite my coverage, the settlement offer did not offer cash value or replacement cost for any single item. Instead, for the items they did "cover," they offered a "cleaning allowance." Every electronic, every medication, regardless of the fact that it was partial ashes, exposed to significant heat, or haunted by smoke, only got coverage for a cleaning. They gave me a $20 cleaning allowance for an iPhone 11 Pro burned/melted/ruined in the fire. Their offer made clear that no one bothered to look at any of the pictures I sent. As an egregious example, they denied giving me anything (not even a cleaning!) for a pack of chia seeds with plastic melting into it (picture attached). The whole settlement was absurd. Over the last month, I have emailed, left voicemails, and online chatted with Assurant asking to speak with someone and outlining my issues. No one has responded. I am looking into all my legal options. Please avoid Assurant for renters insurance. Please! After this experience, I'm honestly questioning whether to stay with GEICO for car insurance given that they've linked me with Assurant. Please get renters insurance from another company. But the other unit that has Safeco insurance was lucky as their insurance covered all damages and they will fight with whoever caused the damage. Don't WASTE your money and your time with Geico-Assurant insurance. As incompetent as can be, this company has the worst claims handling department of any insurance company that I have ever had to deal with.  They have rigged their phone system to NEVER get you to a person to speak to.  Return phone calls don't happen as I have leftover half a dozen messages with no response.  As a collision repair facility, my customer is as frustrated as I am. read more

ZERO STARS. NO STARS TO GIVE. I have had a claim pending for FOUR MONTHS. I got a couple of letters saying that their repeated attempts to contact me had gone unsuccessful. They never attempted to contact me. (I checked. All of my information is correct.) Then the adjustor in charge of my claim left the company, so I was forced to resubmit everything. I have been attempting to have my claim handled for four months, and no one will call me back or respond to emails. I was just on hold for 30 minutes and then disconnected. Judging from the other reviews, I can see this is SOP for them, which means they are a scam and a fake, collecting premiums every month, but not following through on claims filed through that policy. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and encourage others to do so too. I am also attempting to file a complaint with Geico because this is unconscionable. read more

Assurant was recommended by my property manager and I signed up with them as I didn't have any prior insurance provider and it was only a few days between signing the lease and moving in. Thankfully, I never had to file a claim with them but here is a short list of issues I experienced dealing with their website. - They claim that renter's insurance is mandatory by law and as such, the insurance autorenews by default with no option to opt out. This sounds ludicrous and just isn't true. - After signing up, you're unable to remove your credit card information or opt out of autopay because 'renter's insurance is mandatory by law'. I typically never allow any website to save my credit card info or autopay and this was a huge violation of my trust. If I'd noticed this when I first signed up, I would definitely have gone someplace else. - Their site doesn't work with Firefox. read more

I cancelled my renters insurance with them for Fort Lauderdale on 9/21 and on that SAME call set up a new policy with this company for our apartment in Raleigh, NC. I had paid the whole premium for the year in early August 2018, so I had a pretty substantial refund coming. I would have preferred if that $ could simply have been rolled and applied to my new policy, but that was not an option. They told me I would HAVE to get a refund and then pay the new policy. As of 10/11 I had not received my refund check, so I called and I find out they sent the check to the Fort Lauderdale address!! What the heck!!!!! Why would they send the check to an old address with a cancelled policy when I gave them my new location and set up another policy with them? Due to Fort Lauderdale's third world style USPS service, I suspect the check is probably sitting in the mailbox at my old apartment. I have yet to see any of my mail from the mail change that went effective two weeks ago, but I'm on hold to chat with them next. So now I have to wait until 10/25 to call this company back and request a reissue of this check because of THEIR mistake and poor customer service. Hello everyone, I would leave the update regarding my last review here about the ASSURANT COMPANY! right after my last comment, they did called me same day to give me an update regarding my claim ! (Almost after 2 months) . They told me they can not pay me because my policy got canceled on same day as the theft incident was happening! Lol Right a way I understood that they are trying scamm me !(hopefully I'm wrong) I told them per all the evidence I have , my policy wasn't canceled at the time of theft incident! My claim was happened on the 16 of the March, and by the 19 of the March and either after I had policy which I already paid for it .... So after reviewing everything I totally understood that they are trying to scamm me !! They put time back cancelations to my policy because of not payment, but date of time back should be between 19 to 25 of the March! Not the 17 ! So match the time of date back cancelation exactly set as my claim date to just having the excuse to not pay me !! I'm glad for this ! Because I have all the evidence to proof that they are doing something illegal by changing the date back time !! I added renters insurance to my Geico car insurance, little did i know I'm making a big mistake, joining all the other reviewers with their horror stories, with my own horror story, I will make it short: I filed my Claim on 12/31/2022, Renters insurance case due to water damage, The Adjuster was assigned . But I stopped getting any communication from Assurant after 1/12/2023, I don't get responses to my phone calls, text massages, or Emails. I even sent a letter directly to the adjuster. no response. I'm due to renew the policy in March and I'm sure I will not renew with Assurant ever again. I will also file a complaint with the BBB and Geico along with legal actions if i don't get a response from Assurant soon. What is the point of having an insurance if instead of having peace of mind you need to spend time and effort dealing with them on top of dealing with the flood/damage/loss of use/ETC... that you got the insurance for? My experience has been consistent with the many 1 star reviews found on this yelp page and across the web. My adjuster and her manager (Ameenah Bowman & Juan Carlos Milan) have been nearly impossible to get a hold of and are completely unresponsive to any emails or voicemails. Here is a timeline of my claim so far: Week 1 Monday--Condo flooded and destroyed via neighbor's broken pipe Tuesday--Claim filed Friday--Adjuster assigned to my claim, however, she informed me that she was going on vacation the following week, but I would be able to work with her substitute until she returned. Week 2 (my Assurant adjuster on vacation for the week) Monday--3rd party adjuster inspected my condo Friday--3rd party adjuster report completed and submitted to Assurant (During this week, I sent multiple emails/voicemails to Assurant asking for guidance or updates. No responses received) Week 3 Monday--I attempted to reach out again via email/phone but did not receive any replies. My contractor had also emailed Assurant stating that it was imperative to begin work on my apartment ASAP, as the damages were getting worse over time. He also warned that the moisture levels were high and there were signs of mold detected. Tuesday--I managed to get my adjuster on the phone and was informed that she just returned from vacation and had "a lot of catching up to do". She told me that she would get to my claim soon and would call me within 48 hours--no call was ever received. Friday--My contractor tried reaching out to Assurant again via email. He stated again that there were visible signs of mold in the apartment and had concerns about me breathing in the hazardous air. No reply was ever received. Week 4 (my Assurant adjuster on vacation for the week...AGAIN) Monday-Wednesday--Multiple emails/voicemails sent to my adjuster, her manager and directors in the Claims department. No responses were received. Thursday--I received a phone call from a new adjuster (Stephanie), who called to reassure me that my claim was almost ready for review and informed me that my primary adjuster (Ameenah Bowman) was yet again out on vacation for the week. Friday--My adjuster returned from vacation and gave me a call at 6:30pm to let me know that my claim had been reviewed and that she would email a summary of my claim detailing the dollar amount that they plan on sending me. When i asked her the amount, she refused to answer and said that it would be in the email that I would receive in the next 15 minutes. I reluctantly agreed to wait for the email and we ended the call. NO EMAIL was ever sent and I was unable to get my adjuster back on the phone. I tried calling customer support to get a copy of my reviewed claim and flagged my message as "urgent", but never received a reply. Week 5 Monday (today)--I have yet to receive any replies to the multiple emails/VMs I left and have yet to receive the email I was promised from the week before. I'm completely unclear on how Assurant plans on proceeding with my claim. SUMMARY My condo was destroyed 5 weeks ago today and I have been breathing in mold ever since. This potential danger had been flagged multiple times by my contractor and myself, but we have been completely ignored up to this point. I'm 5 weeks into this process with Assurant and so far and my adjuster has been out on TWO separate weeks for vacations. I have no clarity on if/how/when Assurant plans on processing my claim. Not included in the summary above, but my girlfriend was admitted into the hospital for chest pains during week 4. She was required to stay for 2 nights and we are trying to determine if this could have been caused by her exposure to the mold in the apartment. I am currently consulting with legal council on this matter and the general mishandling of my claim. Regardless on whether or not we escalate this in court, I will be reporting Assurant to the BBB and advise everyone i know to STAY AWAY. read more

Just stay away from this company. Not sure how they are still in business with all of the horrid reviews I have read. Geico should reconsider partnering with this company. I didn't even know Assurant was my policy holder until I made my first payment. If I would've know I would of went with a different company. This is my first home theft I ever had to go through, it's straining enough to lose the things you've worked hard far. Well I went online and file a claim and days later (4) I finally got a 2 minute call from and adjuster. "Yea just file online it's faster. You'll have your check in a few days it's called self service I'll send you the link ok bye" I had already filed online submitted my receipts and police statement now I was requested to do this all over again. I get a call from another adjuster a week later. Requesting photos of proof of ownership AGAIN. This will be the 3rd submission of this information. Once I submitted I have not heard back. Online still showing pending. This is disgusting. You pay them every month on time and when you need something they are slow to provide. They should really be ashame of themselves. I WOULDNT GIVE THEM A HALF A STAR BAD COMPANY I opened my claim on May 10th and it's over a month later and still nothing. My adjuster Ms Augetera is very much a scam and the entire company. When I finally spoke with her after numerous calls and attempts I was finally able to speak to her and she goes into details telling me how customers curse her out and blah blah then she says she was sick so her work was piled up then she said she was out of the office for a week and I know that's a lie. She came up with so much but she's working supposedly at home remotely so she's not working she's just home doing nothing. I contacted CS and asked her manager to call me yeah right them calling back is impossible. She tells me she got reprimanded and still nothing so that's probably false. My items got stolen and I made a police report sent them all their documents and 4 weeks later they say the police report needs to be supplemented and I'm like wtf a whole month and you say that to me. Bottom line they try to find everything they can to not pay and I don't know how they are still in business with renters insurance because the phone service is great. I'm reporting them to the better business bureau TODAY and I will get my claim done and paid out if I have to sue them myself this makes no sense and calling and customer service says I'm emailing them now then she said ye s your adjuster is available now and I got transferred and she still didn't answer. I've asked to speak to a GENERAL MANAGER...A SUPERVISOR and they won't let you. Their complaint phone number routed me back to them it's just unfair people have situations and they treat you like this. American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida (ABIC, dba. Assurant) is the proxy home insurance company by GEICO. I had a claim in May/2021 and this company provides horrible service when you have a claim with them, dishonest tactics to fool client about the settlement number. After I caught their lie about the number to my face, the agent Mr. Humberto Velez, instead of making an apology to set things straight, started questioning me if I am a licensed insurance adjuster. I told him I am just your client with facts. LOL. ABIC is my own insurance 2nd to my HOA master insurance (with Farmers). I had my claim on 05/27/2021. My HOA master insurance and ABIC separately had their different scopes of repairs. HOA master policy (Farmers) had already settled with us with their deduction ($5000) taken. ABIC, after obtaining Farmer's resolution letter, however tried misleading me that the Farmers policy has covered "all" of ABIC's approved scope of repair, which is NOT true. ABIC closed my claim, refusing the payment for the difference Farmer's policy doesn't cover but ABIC previously approved. Which I lined out to hem item-by-item. ABIC also totally ignored my ALE claim that is ABIC's liability. What made it worse, on 10/15/2021, ABIC's Humberto Velez called me and lied straight on my face that the amount I claim from ABIC should be deducted again from the Farmers policy deduction amount $5000. That's the funniest thing I have heard recently about number crunching. LOL. What the hell does farmer's deduction to do with you ABIC? We already settled with Farmers part to fix A,B,C with farmer's deduction already taken. And ABIC you already approved the fix of B, C, D, so you shall pay me the amount to fix D, and the amount of difference for B and C, if any, you approved but farmer's coverage is short. Then we take your ABIC's deduction out of the sum. That's simple. ABIC's agent knows exactly what should be done here, but obviously they are trying to do tactics to their client. I chose this insurance because it was the cheapest option. BEWARE, once they get your bank information they will keep auto-charging you and they refuse to give refund if you call to complain. It's a scam company, don't make my mistake. Robert read more

I got this insurance through Geico. What a mistake. I have water damage in my condo which I had emergency repairs completed. Its been over a month since I filed a claim and submitted over 15 pictures and documents. Not once has the adjuster or his manager contacted me or returned a call. Customer service is available but cannot do anything other than email the adjuster. They tell me they're waiting for a certain document. One customer service rep tells me they have it (which I sent 3 weeks ago). The next rep says they don't. As of today - no response/resolution. Long story short - STAY AWAY from this company. read more
