The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with in any industry. I filed a claim over 10 months ago. They have ignored all of my emails and phone calls to check on the claim. I'm currently on a string of 20 unanswered emails since April, when I got a response to say that I had a new agent, who replaced the last one who hadn't responded to another 20 emails since November. Their foreign call centers are completely unaffiliated to their actual offices and all they can do is email your agent, who doesn't respond. There is no way to speak to manager who can do anything or actually get in touch with anybody who can help. Thats an epic feedback loop of incompetence. There is 0 value to this company. Only cost. I have renters insurance through Geico which uses Assurant, unfortunately. In 13 years of renting I have never had to submit a claim until this winter when the weather dropped below zero and a pipe burst in my apartment complex on Feb. 4. I immediately contacted Assurant to let them know of my incident-- at first they were very helpful & walked me through the process of all the items I would need to submit. I was in hotels for a bit & did not know the amount of damage until I returned to the flooded apartment, so my items were finally submitted on March 6th & 10th. My claims adjustor (Alexandra Romero) confirmed via text that she received all my items on March 13th and was processing my claim. She told me that it was easier to text and email her the documents because the website is tricky and I trusted her. However, I continued to get letters in the mail and an email that Assurant had not received my documents yet and that my claim was in "inactive status". I asked Alexandra what was going on and she assured me that she had my claim and it was being processed. As time went by I continued to call to check on the status and tried to speak with Alexandra, her manager (Robert Novak) and left voicemails but never heard back. I then called the main line & waited for a representative who told me she would email them and have them get back to me. I also asked for a Senior Manager or Supervisor above Robert Novack since he had not gotten back to me and she provided me with Victoria Flynn's extension so I left her a voicemail. No response & no call back. I called an operator again and she told me she would escalate this and that I would be contacted within 24 hours. Heard from NO ONE. I have thousands of dollars in damages and submitted all of the documentation on March 6 & 10 and it is now almost May and I still have no idea when I am getting my claim paid. We purchased our home owners insurance through Geico and they partner with Assurant which is a shame because in my experince Geico provides great customer service and overall service and Assurant has the worst customer service of ANY buisness i have ever experienced. Our claim started in February of 2022 and is still not resolved! NO ONE calls us back in fact in 4 months not one employee or manager i have called to speak with and gather information has called us back....we only speak to them if they happen to answer when we call (which happend very rarely). No one appears to care or know anything! We have a downstairs portion of our home that still has exposed walls because they havent decided how much they are willing to pay to complete the project...meanwhile we have an active infant and i cant put up baby gates because we have no walls! We started and were told 30 days, 4 months later they have paid 1 of the companies that has provided us service and have ignored us and the other companies that worked on our home. Assurant is a SCAM. Expect terrible customer service I've been an Assurant rental insurance customer for ten years. I went TEN YEARS without ever needing to make a claim. Then our apartment got mold, and some of our belongings were damaged. We tried to file a claim online -- the form was broken. I build websites for a living -- the form was obviously broken on Assurant's end. Since we couldn't submit the information via webform, we emailed it to our claim adjuster. Then we tried calling, and left a voicemail for our claim adjuster. We didn't hear back, so we called again the next day. We called every day for a week and a half and never heard anything. We found our claim adjuster's supervisor and called. Nothing. We call the main line, and sit through extremely long wait times, navigating phone menus, getting placed on hold and getting dumped back to the menu when they were allegedly transfering us to someone who could help. Again, no help. This whole process is made to be impossible. On purpose. Because if you can't actually complete your claim, Assurant keeps your money and never has to pay out. Over a month and a half later, we finally get to speak to our claims adjuster. We explain our situation and no surprises here -- our claim was denied. Even though we have a provision in our policy that says mold damage is covered. The real test of insurance is: if you need to make a claim, do they help you? If you're with Assurant, the answer is clearly no. How much money does Assurant make by denying your claims? Assurant's CEO Alan B. I would give no stars if I could. When a company has no escalation path for customers whatsoever, run away fast. Claims process was a joke for a verified issue. Asked to speak to someone overseeing the claim as the "explanation" of the rejection of the claim included erroneous data. They "couldn't verify the failure." The generator on our coach has a blown motor and will run long enough to quickly identify the fatal issue. Service records exist and run time on the generator is less than 1,000 hrs. The explanation for the rejection somewhat evolved in response to my provision of the facts that their inspector (they are quick to tell you they subcontract and so it isn't their decision) was onsite at a certified dealer where the new generator was on order. It had not been replaced and they could readily revisit the claim and see the failure and I would be happy to give them access again. The explanation for the rejection then changed to well it's already been decided and devolved into a terse "claim is decided, nothing you can do about it, nobody to escalate to, no supervisors to intervene or even engage in any dialog..." This purchase was sort of rolled into our financing of our RV as a must have. If ANYONE is financing a big investment like a motor coach, under no circumstances should you spend any money on a policy with this company. Find an alternative. There are others who can do the coverage required by financing, this policy is a straight up joke, as is the company. read more

Worst company I've ever had the displeasure to work with. Put in a claim on my cell phone over a week ago. Was told it was out of stock and that they would cover the original purchase price of the phone and to go in store and pick a new one. Spent 3 hours with a manager at a local tmobile without luck. Went home phone less. Next day tmobile manager spoke with assurant, they said the phone was available now and to pay for deductible via automated service, which failed. Spoke with a customer care and the phone was back out of stock and to do the same process of picking a new phone. Which once again didn't work. Day 3 rolls around, once again conference call with tmobile manager, tmobile care specialist, and assurant. Same situation is explained of the phone being out of stock, assurant associate assures us everything is good. We go ahead and try to order the phone through tmobiles care service and it fails once again. We call back assurant and now the phones in stock. I pay deductible successfully at 12 pm Thursday. We are now almost 24 hours later and they have no idea when the phone will ship but I was assured I will not see it till next week. Glad to see a company make such bold claims as ( we ship next day). At this point with the countless hours I've spent in store and at home on the phone with these people and apology would be the least you think but nope, not a single word from any of the 3 supervisors or 10+ associates I've had the displeasure of speaking with at assurant. The bike was stolen off of the bike rack which it was locked to. The thief destroyed the rack and took the bike, lock and all. Assurant's response was that I had a $500 deductible and they were denying the claim. Folks, I owned this bike for 35 years. Who places a $500 deductible on a rental policy? How many individual items in your apartment would qualify for coverage. Find a real insurance company to cover your belongings. I have renters insurance with Assurant which I got through Geico. In February our home was burgled (rock through a back window). We had a TV, four laptops, some smaller electronics, bags, and a good amount of cash taken. Our policy states that in the event of a loss and a claim being made, Assurnat will pay the Actual Cash Value (Replacement Cost less Depreciation) of all items lost. When we received our claim summary all but one item was reimbursed the ACV. On that one item they instead took the original purchase price (the price of the item rose the day after I bought it, making the replacement cost considerably higher) and subtracted the depreciation from that. I contacted the adjuster to ask why this item had not been valued using the method outlined in our policy and his only answer was that Assurant was only responsible for "indmenifying" us of our financial loss. I politely told him this is not what our policy states, to which he replied "That's our policy, it doesn't matter what your policy says." This threw me off. What's the point of having a contract if the contract can be breached by an internal policy that Assurant doesn't publicize? I asked to speak to his manager about this because it didn't sit right with me. As soon as I was transferred the line went dead. I called back and made my way through the phone tree until I reached the manager's extension, but he didn't answer so I left a message leaving my policy number, claim number, phone number, and a description of the problem I was having. I waited a week and never received a call. Since I never received a call back I decided to call the adjuster again to see if he could have his manager call me back. He said he would send an email request to his manager to have him call me. I waited a week again, but still no response. I decided to use the email that was give on the Claim Summary we were sent. I never received a response back from that either. Over the course of the last three months I have made 6 calls and sent one email trying to get answers but never received a single response. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Being burgled is rough, but having your insurance company breach your contract and then ignore your calls cuts much deeper. read more

THIS IS THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY! Bear with me, this is my first review. I have assurant for renter's insurance of my apartment. Two months ago, the dishwasher of the apartment above mine exploded and caused a water leak which created a water damage to my laptop( macbook pro 15"). I contacted assurant and filed my claim. I hate to call people out, but they have left me with no choice. I was contacted by an adjuster by the name of Juana Maritinez. She set up a time to review my laptop condition and tells me I won't be charged the deductible as the damage was created by something outside the apartment. She never called back. I called her repeatedly, left voice messages, and emailed her. No replies. No call backs. Nothing. In her voicemail, she says "If something is urgent, call my manager Jose Vergas", I called him and left voice messages. No reply. Not one call back. In his voice mail, he also says " If something is urgent, please call my manager Michelle Sanchez." I called her and you guessed it, no one picks up and no one calls back. I did this for weeks and despite no sign of contact, I kept on getting physical mails in my inbox from assurant that I need to submit pictures and a diagnostic test of my laptop. I went to their corporate office in duluth, so I could speak to someone and get some help on my claim. The security guard didn't even let me in saying "this is a call center, only employees allowed" Tried calling all of the people mentioned above again, no response once again. I send pictures of my laptop to their generic insurance claim email alongside a diagnostic report that I got from an authorized apple repair shop. AND THEN SOMETHING MAGICAL HAPPENS! I am sent an automated email that my claim is approved, but here is the problem they are paying me less than half of the price of the item, so I can't buy it. On top of that, they charged me the $250 dollar deductible. The email also says, the claim is only valid for the next 24 hours! All of this after not having a laptop for 2 months. Now I am back to square one, trying to call my adjuster and her bosses to discuss my claim and to no one's surprise, they won't pick up and I keep on getting transferred to the voicemail inboxes. The lack of courtesy and unprofessional behavior is unmatched Not only am I being frauded but I have been without a laptop for 2 months and have had to face useless inconvenience for no fault of mine. . this is anhorrible use when you have renters insurance. I have had a claim going on since September I was forced out of my house due to water and mold and lost a lot of my belongings. Countless emails phone calls and voice messages left or never answered. I sent an email every single day and still no response they have all of my paperwork that needs to be used to process the rest of the claim For me to collect on what I lost I had to live in a hotel for almost 3 months and I'm still not able to go back to the place I was forced to move which encountered more funds I had to shell out they know this whole situation and still nothing. I have was reimburse however it was small amounts 1.00 for pants my clothes cost way more for me and my son then my son had a macbook full of music he have written stolen I have gave all info including his apple id log in I have not been reimburse for that nor my TVs I have done all I needed this is 3 months of hell I have been doing all that they have asked of me I feel like I have been robbed also my cousin gave me a phone for Xmas that was in his name they did not reimburse me and that was a gift I lost sentimental value things they showed they did not care and reading review I see I am not the only one that was robbed by the insurance company I am pushing the issues because it is unfair the next step is the new group I spent way more money replacing me and my son belongings read more
