My husband and I LOVE coming here! This is one of the best public parks we've ever seen. All of the following are amenities they have available for anyone to use: a running track, soccer fields, tennis courts (14 of them), basketball courts, a skate park, an insanely large swimming pool (FREE to use, but only available in summer months) and tons of grass space to play on and enjoy. Just across the street from the park, under the bridge, there's a children's playground, more basketball courts, 3 walls for "wall ball"/squash/tennis practice) and a dog park that has both a large dog and small dog section. Astoria Park has so much to offer. Overlooking the water, it provides beautiful views and plenty of areas for families to relax, play, exercise, or go for a run. The park features a large pool, a playground for young children, a spacious track, a soccer field, basketball courts, and more. I recently spent a day there with my children, and they had a great time playing soccer. The field is large enough to accommodate many different activities at once. While some people were training or playing soccer, others were jogging, stretching, or just enjoying a walk. There is a dedicated area for exercising, plenty of benches, a clean restroom, and a parking lot that can fit a good number of cars. The pool, open to the public in December, is another bonus, and the small play area is perfect for younger kids. If you enjoy long walks or jogs, this park is definitely worth visiting. It is accessible by train and bus, with a bit of a walk from the station to the field. One of the park's most unique features is its location. Its located right under the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly known as the Triborough Bridge). You can sit and watch the cars pass overhead, a surprisingly calming sight. Other areas of the park are filled with trees and greenery, making it a peaceful escape from the city. What I appreciated most was the diversity of the people. One moment you might hear Mediterranean music playing, and just a few minutes later, a popular Latin hit. Astoria Park is one of the best parts about living in Astoria. The views are beautiful, it's spacious and features amenities like bathrooms, a running track, a skate park, and a pool in the summer. I love coming here to see fireworks around 4th of July, watching the free movies in the park and listening to live music. It's also a beautiful place to come in the winter. Sledding happens pretty much all over the park, and the snow blankets the park in a way that makes it sound quiet and serene, especially if you visit before the sledders take over. It's a solid date spot (especially if you're broke, pack a picnic), or to hang out with friends. I love people watching here, you'll see folks painting the scene, people playing frisbee, plus a ton of cute dogs out living their best lives. This is a fantastic park. It's spacious and lush. It has a pool, tennis courts, a playground, plenty of places to lounge, and public bathrooms. On a sunny Saturday in June, lots of folks were out sunbathing. It has impressive views of the White Stone and RFK bridges and the East River. This is probably one of the most scenic tracks I've ever run on. It's a beautiful place to workout especially during sunset. It's about 30 minutes from grand central and a 12 minute walk from the subway. However it does get PACKED in the evenings now that it's warm outside. One of my grievances about this place is that a lot of people who run here lack self awareness and workout etiquette. Today I tweaked my hamstring pretty badly trying to evade someone who didn't bother to look both ways while jumping into my lane while I was doing a sprint workout... That can actually be pretty dangerous, so people need to be more aware if they're going to run here. Despite my experience, it is a great track and I'll be back for future workouts, just at a different time of the day read more

Astoria Park is my favorite park in all of Queens. I might be bias because I live here but it's clean, spacious and beautiful views. My favorite part of the park is the track. I walk this track at least 3 times a week to keep in shape. They have exercise machines right outside of the track in case you don't have a gym membership. These machines used to get packed during the middle of the pandemic when gyms were closed. They are kept very clean. There are bathrooms right near the track and tennis courts. In the middle of the field, there is always a workout class or soccer game going on. During the summer, there's always things to do that are hosted by the community. My favorite has to be the fireworks. That's one of those nights where I'm grateful I'm walking distance because there is always a huge turn out. You definitely have to visit if you've never been. read more

Last night, my friend and I came here to check out the carnival. She had a hard time finding parking. I recommend taking Uber if you plan to go. We didn't stayed long because the park was crowded. The lines were long for the rides. I love how big the park is though. read more

I believe this is the best park of Queens! I love visiting and going for a run here! The best views - RFK, Hell Gate bridges, beautiful skyline. The best variety of sections - track field, soccer field, skate park, playground, pool, etc The best events - carnivals, fairs, live music, tree mulching, park cleanup, movies, etc This park is not too packed and is fairly always clean. One improvement can be the bathroom situations for sure, we need more! Astoria Park is a beautiful place to walk along the river and by the bridges. It seems like a good place for exercise. Lots of people are always jogging or walking. Dogs abound. The best part is the views. Along the East River is a long path that goes the length of the park, giving you some good looks of Harlem and the Bronx. It seems much more peaceful over on this side. This doesn't mean there's no noise though. Often the park is full of families with kids. There's also dogs and other pets. It basically is a long strip along the river, so the path is the main attraction. It offers many of the best views of the city. The park is mostly safe. read more

What an awesome park! I haven't been here in years but spontaneously came by yesterday with a friend. We were meeting some pals who live in Astoria for dinner and since we overestimated traffic (better to be early than late!), we arrived about an hour ahead of schedule. We spent that hour checking out the renovations that the city made to the park and really love what they've done with the place! The track has plenty to spring to it, they have new outdoor gym equipment, and the turf feels great. I've been told that the pool has been redone as well. The park has beautiful views of the Triborough Bridge and is a wonderful place to relax, workout, catch the sunset, or even have a picnic (once the weather warms up that is). Even yesterday, with the temps and winds as intense as they were, people were still getting their soccer on and there were plenty of others working out circuit training style on the gym equipment. New York City is such a wonderful playground- get out and move my friends! read more

Oh my! Beautiful sunlit views of the Hells Gate and Tri-Borough bridges! Tons of space...far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. This park is lovely! I had an awesome picnic here for my 4th of July weekend. It was a pain to get to from Brooklyn, but ultimately worth it. The BEST part of my day here was when the sun began to set and the fireflies came out...and I mean they showed up and showed out ok!!! They littered the evening air with their fairy lights. Let me tell you Astoria pain and joy and sorrow. Haven't been here as much as I wanted, but that's the astoria of my life. You'll get five stars from me for this park - and that's just for the views of Manhattan alone. Not to mention the two spectacular bridges that it's sandwiched between, which are the RFK and the Hell's Gate. This is truly one of the most beautiful spots in New York City and five stars is not enough for this place. Astoria park has undergone a nice facelift. They opened up the track and field side a couple of years ago, along with more walking paths. Unfortunately this year, they're going to close Astoria Pools to renovations. I'm not surprised they decided to close shore rd off to cars to allow more "pedestrian friendly activity". The city has been closing off certain streets throughout the borough and not acknowledging the problems it brings. Besides that, Astoria Park has always been a staple to watch the sunset, and yearly fireworks they have before the 4th of July. I wish they could fix the walking path near the skatepark. Not sure why that one strip was left ignored but it is bumpy bumpy!!!!! Otherwise, love this park to people watch and pull up a blanket and watch the boats. read more

What can I say? The park is awesome. It's clean, it's close to my apartment, it's peaceful, it's nature-y (duh). I really just enjoy its little walkways and bends, the green grass that's now started to grow always inviting for a little picnic action - and of course, I love watching the many furry friends and babies that frolic happily around the park. It's always also so incredibly peaceful to walk or jog along the water. The beautiful sunsets over the East River are still (and will always be) my absolute favorite. Truly blessed to have this park within a few minutes' walk. The bridges are also very picturesquely perfect. I won't miss Shore Ave being reopened for car traffic; hoping it will stay a pedestrian walking haven for longer. Long live Astoria and its beautiful park. read more

It's so strange that I've lived in NYC for 18 years, and I visited the park for the first time a few weeks ago. I'm a bit surprised that Astoria Park has not been one of my destinations during my 18-year tenure in NYC. I guess there is a first time for everything. The park and the surrounding areas are a great place to run and walk. Overall, the park is pretty clean . . . a lot cleaner than other parks in the city. The views of the East River, the RFK Bridge, Hell's Gate Bridge, and Randall's Island are absolutely breathtaking, especially during a nice day. The park has a brand new (or brand newish) track, which provides extra space for exercising. Astoria Park is definitely one of my favorite parks in Queens and I usually come here during the summer. Tonight my two friends and I came to check out the Holiday Festival & Tree Lighting Celebration organized by Central Astoria. Actually I just popped my first ever tree lighting ceremony. There were lines for popcorn...I am assuming it was free and another line for a ride on the trolley where you have to line up before 4:00 pm. It was Rick C and Cynthia C's first time at the park so we just walked around underneath the magnificent bridges. I didn't get a chance to take them to Ralph Demarco Park as it got dark about 4:00 pmish. The band was taking their equipment off the stage as a group of caroling came on stage and sang beautiful Christmas songs and kids out front dancing away. read more

I feel fortunate to live so close to Astoria Park! It was a hassle to train at McCarren Park while Astoria Park Track was closed, but now we have a beautiful track! As pictured, the track came with a workout area with exercise machines. Once you're done with your track workout, you can do core workouts this way. I love this park, there's so much to do here at all ages really. When j was a teen I used to come here a lot to hang by the water or just to walk around. I also learned how to drive in the streets close to this park. I used to run around the park trails and bring my puppy for a doggy hangout day. I have seen independence day fireworks from here as well as have plenty enjoyed the pool at the park. Lately I like to come over to run as they have a great running track, you can enjoy an amazing view while running and if you not the dining k ok nd of individual they also have tennis courts and some random calistatis workout stations that you can also use. They made an very fun share park as well eight under the bridge so come by and busy some moves if you are a dare devil! read more

Astoria Park overlooks East River facilitating fantastic views of Roosevelt Island, including Triborough Bridge and Hell Gate Bridge for Metro North Rail Road's Harlem Line. It inhabits a wealth of equipment surmounting Olympic standard of a Running Track utilized in all weather course. Astoria Pool holds local competitions and meet Olympic standards and contains shallow water for children's beginner level. Sadly the nearby diving pool is an utter state of disrepair, abandoned usage for many years. A skating park is surprisingly also available on grounds. This 59.96 acres, since 1913 as the largest park in Western Queens, NYC of unscathed land as verified by astorialic.org. Astoria Park is well utilized outdoor space which includes a Fitness Equipment, Gametime Parcourse Fitcenter for a challenge of stretching, legging, and endurance to promote cardiovascular health. I have never encountered a park to be equipped for this Gametime Parcourse which I find many tasks difficult beyond my physical status impediment to perform. Biking in the outskirts of Astoria Park depict a lovely view of the East River among the many trails. This is no ordinary park as it contains all the standard equipment of tennis courts and children playground plus more of the fore-mentioned. A living Long Island War Memorial is well cared for on grounds near the parking lot. A compass imbued on the ground is located at the entrance. Seagulls are easily viewable in the East River where I was able to attain a clear photo shoot. With a friend, I had the pleasure to witness the beginnings of a sweet mellifluous sunset. Astoria Park is gorgeous! Pros: large swimming pool. Cons: no water in the swimming pool. So don't try to use that diving board. I went when the weather was transitioning to autumn, so I'm assuming they usually open the pool up during the summertime? Otherwise, i'd be feeling a bit Lana del Rey. There's an area dedicated to skateboarders, a running track (with great views of the bridge), basketball courts, random exercise workout benches, etc. You can even run by the river side if you don't want to run on the track. read more

Wow as a visitor to NYC I was introduced to this park by Jenifer D and I unexpectedly found myself in awe. It's simply a whole different perspective on New York, especially when compared to the first thing that pops into your head when you think NYC. Tall buildings, Times Square, metal, concrete, etc. This park is certainly none of those. It's got this strange calmness to it at night with the water flowing under the Triborough & Hell's Gate bridges and it's a little surreal. I went here at night where it seems to be a happening spot for romantic couples, bonding families, motorcycle enthusiasts, and night time strollers. During the day the grassy area was filled with sunbathers and people enjoying a good book. There's also this large Olympic sized pool that's free to the public which looked incredibly tempting. This place is a treasure in the middle of Queens right off the RFK / Triboro bridge. There is a running track, built in exercise equipment scattered throughout the park and an amazing skateboard park -- something you don't see often on the east coast. Definitely worth a visit while in Queens. You can walk down by the water (East River) and enjoy the beautiful view of Manhattan walk under the RFK bridge for some great photo opps and watch the boats go by. read more
