Usually during peak hours on Saturday (12-2) it's open. That being said, it's a great pool and I'm especially impressed with the lifeguard staff. They are attentive, kind, and professional. Better than most indoor pools I've been to. Gabby the lifeguard is especially wonderful - took time to encourage my daughter during her first swim test for a wristband. Worth the trip when you're in Astoria!

Old people are often going up the wrong way on the lazy river, which functions via weak small pumps. In these troubled times of economic hardship and dwindling resources, Clatsop Community College has taken a beating as far as their budget is concerned. Class cuts, layoffs, students left in the dark...it's not a pretty picture at all. So let me look on the bright side and offer something that is pretty and inspiring about Clatsop Community College.....the incredible views from its campus. This is a very well designed campus with LEED Certified buildings. I really don't know how students focus here with the stunning views from many of the west facing windows. Do yourself a favour and pop into the library for a glimpse yourself. You will be treated to one of the finest views of the Columbia River. Fresh air, peace and quiet, the occasional deer, nice landscape, awesome views....this is a beautiful campus. All I had to gaze at when I was in university were books and an occasional comely co-ed. These "darn kids today" have it pretty good here as far as aesthetics are concerned. Now if we can just not fail them and keep higher education affordable and accessible for our local students. You don;t have to be a student to enjoy the serene surroundings at Clatsop Community College either. Pop in the library and relax a bit. It is staffed by some of the friendliest college staff I have ever dealt with. Get a cup of coffee. Check out the art gallery. Buy from the student store. Hell, take a class even. We owe it as a community to support this community college for future generations. It is one of the best investments money can buy.

That would easily be a couple billion in today's dollars That's a lot of money. He founded fort Astoria as a Pacific Northwest outpost for his fur trading empire, , and yet even though this place is named after him, he never visited. Seeing the school is so much fun. The school was just used for exterior shots. I was here many years ago, and the back playground was wide open, and again, it was just like stepping into the movie. Since then, however, they've built some buildings, out back, and you don't get a really good view of the playground anymore. Still, just seeing the front of the school is so cool. The school is extremely close to the goonies house in town. Definitely worth stopping by for a moment or two. .

Mr. Kimble was the best kindergarten teacher ever. He put our daughter through "police school" and…read morewhipped her into shape! Before Mrs. Hagley took her leave the kids were so bored. Once Mr. Kimble took over things got really exciting...for the kids. He actually saved my nephew Dominic and his mom, Joyce, from her crazed ex husband Crisp. He came back from France, lit a fire in the library and shot Mr. Kimble in the leg. Mr. Kimble was able to take care of Crisp and save the day! The class pet ferret was cute, but a little stinky!

It was very nice to be able to attend Midnight Christmas Eve here…read more My grandmother used to attend this Church back in the day when they operated the Shakey's pizza in town, so it was a very special experience for me. The Church is very nice and well maintained and the liturgy was prayed in a very devout and respectful, yet joyful manner. Everyone in the community was also very kind and welcoming and I was even given a partying gift! I hope I can come back some time soon.

Granddaughter is only 4 but loves music and dance, She recently attended Encore's "Born to…read moreEntertain" Preschool (which is offered two half-days a week) and loved it! Such a positive and welcoming atmosphere as soon as you enter the studio. Their instructors are fantastic, from Miss Jane, the preschool and tumbling teacher to Miss Tia, the tap and ballet teacher. Miss Jane has a Master's in Education and you can tell by the superb academic curriculum and instruction. Miss Tia has a strong background in dance and relates so well to the little people. It is a joy to watch the pre-schoolers thrive under their guidance and have so much fun!

But when the local hospital had to pause service on their lactation support, North Star stepped in to help new families who needed help feeding their babies (for free, of course). Not to mention that they have the most knowledgeable, kind, and supportive doulas for birth & postpartum. Doulas are essential! Do yourself a favor and call them!!
