She didn't know the gates were enchanted. You see, she'd been carrying some very heavy armor. Not the shiny kind forged by a blacksmith. The invisible kind you build piece by piece when the world teaches you that being yourself isn't always safe. So she walked into the kingdom cautiously. Would people stare? Would they whisper? Would they see her as she saw herself? Would she belong? And then something strange happened. Nothing. Nobody summoned the guards. No villagers chased her away with pitchforks. No evil wizard appeared to declare that she didn't belong in the kingdom. Instead, someone smiled and said, "I love your dress." And just like that, one tiny piece of armor fell away. Then another. And another. There was laughter. Kindness. Conversation. There were wonderfully weird people everywhere, and nobody seemed particularly interested in asking anyone else to be less weird. Somewhere among the tents, costumes, laughter, and magic, I realized I'd stopped protecting myself from everyone around me. I was just being me. I didn't know it then, but I'd walked through a portal. Because I met people that day who would become friends. Those friends led me toward other Faires, new adventures, volunteering, Pride, hugs, laughter, chosen family, and a community I hadn't even known I was searching for. It's funny how quests begin. Usually nobody hands you a map and announces, "This is the part where your life changes." Sometimes you just decide to go to a Renaissance Faire. Now the wheel of the year has nearly turned once more, and Bucks County Renaissance Faire is approaching again. Except the woman returning through those gates isn't quite the same woman who entered them last year. Last year, I walked in wondering whether there might be a little corner of this strange kingdom where someone like me belonged. This year? I already know. I'll walk through those enchanted gates with considerably less armor, a few more stories, some wonderful new people in my life, and perhaps just a little more magic of my own. Because sometimes enchanted kingdoms aren't hidden beyond wardrobes or at the end of mysterious roads. Sometimes they're hiding in a field in Pennsylvania. And sometimes the greatest magic isn't escaping into another world. It's finding a place that finally makes you feel at home in this one.

We had purchased a parking pass as well so we were able to park on the premises. We loved it here! It was the perfect spot to have this music festival! The venue isn't terribly big so it had a intimate feel for what it was. They had an outdoor stage set up and they also have a man indoor theater that they held some acoustic sessions in and the sound quality was wonderful! There was plenty of room for the amount of food trucks and vendors they had set up. Along with some chairs, the sound booth, etc. we are already looking forward to the festival next year which will be held here as well I believe.

Snipe's Farm is a 200 year old family owned farm in Bucks County surrounded by 150 year old trees on acres and acres of bucolic pasture. When inside you would never know you're just a stones throw from I95 and Route 1! Here's a few reasons why Snipes is so awesome- -Their shows are reasonably priced with early bird online specials. They use Ticket Leap as they have the lowest fees of any ticket distributor. You can pay cash at the gate for a few more dollars day of show. -They're BYO!! Say what?!! The just ask that you not bring glass. We usually get margarita in a bag and bring cups. Many bring rolling coolers and keep their glass in the coolers and just pour into cups as needed. You may NOT walk around with glass beer bottles. -You can BYO food too! -All shows are general admission. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, inflatable furniture, even pop up canopies. They do have two large tents for shade already set up on the lawn area. These seats obviously go first. -Children under 12 are FREE with paid adult! IF they do charge for a child for certain events, it's just $5 -Parking is just $5! They strongly encourage carpooling. -The staff is so chill. Very cool older hippies. All very nice. They don't patrol, but won't tolerate any behavior that makes their events not family-friendly. -They have both food and shopping vendors. -The farm is also home to animals and a dog daycare. You would never know this as the concert area does not smell like you're on a farm. They also offer CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares and offer show discounts to those signed up for them. Apparently they have the best free range eggs here. Snipe's also host many class trips throughout the year as well as a farm based summer camp you can pay weekly for. We personally LOVE their annual Grateful Dead music Festival called "In & Out Of The Garden We Go"! We have attended for years now and it's something we look forward to every June with our family to kick off the summer festival season. I've been to many, many festivals in my day and this is a truly a great one! It's so incredibly family-friendly. Our girls love it just as much as we do. There are tons of kids of all ages running around barefoot, dancing, playing with balls, hula hoops, and a bubbles. This year we brought beads for the kids, ours and the friend they made to make bracelets. The staff gave out show tee shirts and candy to all the kiddos! The lineup is all terrific local cover bands acts and the music is non-stop. They have a smaller side stage and larger stage next to it. There's no set breaks or dead time for set up or breakdown. The next band is ready to go immediately when the prior band finishes. Oh, and the sound is fantastic! The lights at night are fun too! They have great local vendors selling all sorts of hippie wares from patches and stickers, hand lured soy candles, tie dyes of course, up-cycled goods too. This year they even had someone doing live paintings and selling goods made from recycled Christmas Trees. The food vendors are delicious and often vegan and vegetarian foods although you can certainly bring your own snacks and meals. This specific festival is all weekend long and you can camp right there! People have views of the stage right from their tent or trailer! Very cool! The music will play from 11am-1am the next night (day) non-stop! You really get your money's worth! This year Saturday started with community yoga!! Tickets can be either Fri night, all day Saturday, or a weekend pass which includes camping. We have never camped yet as our schedule just hasn't allowed it but we stay all day Saturday and it's wonderful This festival gives me a sense of what life would be like on a hippie commune back in the 60's. It's so freeing and there's such a great, warm atmosphere. The people are a great crowd. Everyone just gets it. It's such a nice change from the price gouging and big named venues nowadays. The show was set on the Schuylkill river banks, in a area that is separated by fences and include three stations of audience seating, vendors, toilets, and such. It was raining (unfortunately) on the day of the show, and there was some technical difficulties with the sound system, but the crew still tried their best to put on a great show. The chandelier with the band was definitely an amazing piece of art. The dance and performance mix together modern dance, satire comedy, and acrobat.... they dancers/performers would come down from the stage to dance with people in the audience... Overall, it was both elegant and funny. What a great piece of art!
