Do not use them for in-store pickup! I placed an order on Saturday for a phone that was in stock to be picked up on Sunday. Sunday comes and goes and I didn't get a confirmation email--not a problem. Monday mid-day comes and nothing and so I call the store and was told to come in when I came--that the order was ready. I couldn't come on Monday so I planned on stopping by on Tuesday. Tuesday comes---still no confirmation that my order was ready--so I call to make sure and was told to come in and that it wouldn't be a problem. I arrive around 5 pm and told the sales associate that I am here to pickup an order. She tells me no order exists. I offer to show my email with the order number, last name, etc.--she says no order exists. I insist that she reach out to a manager because I just called the store and was told it would be good to go. Manager never assigned the order to the sales team and so they have the start the process which includes waiting for a safe to open after 10 minutes. I agree to wait, not a problem--thank you for checking. The sales associate begins activating and processing the order---she isn't able to finish---the manager never assigned the device--so she can't do this without him. I have never witnessed a more incompetent process for a in store online order pickup. The sales associate was nice but this manager doesn't know what they are doing. read more

AT&T is the worst internet service I have ever had. My plan is supposed to be top tier, but my connection goes out countless times per day. This is almost as bad as the dial-up service I had years back. I understand that AT&T is reneging on their contracts and limiting bandwidth to subscribers. I guess we have no recourse, because AT&T's contract small print gives them the right to do anything they want. But if we try to cancel because they changed their terms, we, of course, are hit with penalty payments. read more

AT&T internet is the worst. Pages won't load, repeatedly have to sign in, can't access my email or calendar quite often. Sometimes my connection is frozen for five minutes or more. After their big push to gain customers with cheap service, I think that AT&t is over-subscribed and can't handle the traffic. AT&T is so bad that it reminds me of the old days when I had dial-up service and kept getting knocked off-line. Where is the state Attorney General when you need him? He should be looking into this as a consumer rip-off issue. read more

HARDWARE PROBLEMS - It sent me too much paper when I signed up - Installation did not work - Installation requires turning on a computer, but the instructions call merely for turning off (never turning on) the computer - The installation guide does not include the router AT&T itself shipped as one of the router options - The installation guide implicitly called for turning off the router, but the condition under which the guide said it was safe to turn off the router never occurred WEBSITE PROBLEMS - Clicking the "Log In" button fails to go to a form to enter credentials - Some required questions fail to have *s marking them as required - No item in the drop-down list of account types correctly describes my account type - The online billing account # field fails to recognize my account number as formatted by AT&T itself in the paper bill - The navigation architecture to go backwards to previous steps in set-up wizards has been overlooked - Forced log-out happens after just a few minutes of inactivity - The password strength estimator gives an estimate for invalid passwords, as if they were valid - The site has both long scheduled down-time and long unscheduled down-time - Workflow is interrupted by pop-over surveys - "Sign-up now" text that looks like a button is not a button - There's an un-illuminating error roadblocking me from signing up for paperless billing, to the harm of the environment - To do some steps, you have to log out and then log back in. - The jargon used to refer to log in credentials is inconsistent. - The sign-up wizard neglects fields, so AT&T has to roadblock to ask for them in a later session. - The site lists a supposed phone number for me that's not even a phone number, at least not mine PHONE PROBLEMS - Phone support is not available 24/7 - A phone number is listed, but a human doesn't pick up the phone -- a machine does. The software makes ridiculous sounds, like an android typing, which is embarrassing for AT&T, the customer, the software, and androids. It says the office is closed but then lists hours indicating it's open. It routes callers through a work flow destined for a human operator that's futile because there aren't actually humans taking calls, wasting the customer's time. - The website instructs the customer to call a support number (immediately), while neglecting to mention that the support number is currently unstaffed. - The website instructs the customer to call a number; when I called the number, the automated response indicated that the number was for a product different from the one that the website knew I would be calling about. That's bad. - When dealing with an automated phone line, I was inaccurately placed into an account sign-up flow. That's bad. read more

Mom and Dad always taught me to say ""Thank you"" when thanks were in order. In this case, I owe a 'thanks' to AT&T. My note of appreciation is below. Because of the size of AT&T, if you so feel, I ask that you please share it as I am hoping it might be seen by someone within AT&T who can put it to good use. "Thank you", AT&T, for coming to my home on May 10th for the purpose of installing U-Verse service, sitting outside on the street for 10 minutes, then leaving without contact or explanation. Heck, your technician never even got out of the van. Of course, my DSL was disconnected as soon as you were gone. "Thank you", AT&T, for making it my responsibility to contact you to find out what had happened and spend hours on Saturday on the phone with various groups within your company - as late as 9:30 PM EST - trying to get you do to something about my lost Internet service. "Thank you", AT&T, for promising me expedited action via your "Disconnected in Error" process and assuring me my service would be restored before the weekend was over...then doing nothing. (I should have known this would be the start of the broken promises....now that IS a process you have down to a science!) "Thank you", AT&T, for informing me on Monday, May 12th that my DSL had been restored - which it had - but failing to tell me you were turning it off again later in the day. I guess my wife, son, and I must suffer from dementia as when I questioned this I was told that the DSL had never been restored...despite our ability to download email, Skype, and visit websites during the afternoon. "Thank you", AT&T, for rescheduling my U-Verse installation for Wednesday, May 14th, but once again never showing up or calling. I do appreciate your consistency in that, once again, it was my responsibility to contact you to find out why a technician did not show up for the appointment and I still had no Internet service. "Thank you", AT&T, for texting me after several phone calls - most lasting the better part of an hour or more - to let me know my DSL service would be re-established by 8 PM EST on Thursday, May 15th ...then, yet again, failing to do so. "Thank you", AT&T, for advising me on Friday, May 16th, that U-Verse could never have been installed in my home despite being available in the area. ("You are too far from the pole.") Guess you didn't know that after your initial visit and before you wasted several days of my time plus our afternoon on the 14th awaiting your second attempt? "Thank you", AT&T, for informing me that same Friday that it would be 2-3 additional business days before service could be restored, then looking for a 'pat on the back' when you told me you would try to expedite the process for Monday, May 19th, 9 days after you had erroneously shut it off in the first place. "Thank you", AT&T, for wasting hours of my time during that week listening to excuses and finger pointing about your inability to address a problem that was 100% YOUR FAULT! (No, a tree did not fall on my house nor was a telephone pole hit by lightning!) My favorite expressions during these calls, especially in light of your inability to do anything to correct your mistake, were: * "I can understand your frustration." * "I am sorry for your inconvenience." * "It's how the system works." * "That's the other group's responsibility." * "I can't believe someone told you that!" * "I am afraid I have some bad news for you." How about substituting this one for one of these calling card expressions: "We made a mistake and we are getting it fixed immediately". (Which would require you, of course, to have a process in place that allows you to do that. Not sure your all powerful "system" would allow you to provide that level of customer service!) Of course every rule has an exception and in this case her name is Melinda who works in Las Vegas. She called me several times to include the 19th circa 7 PM EST and finally got the service restored....hours before her teammates out here in New Haven even knew it was back on and had actually called me to tell me it wasn't going to be back on for the 19th...it was going to be the 20th! (Imagine that) Thank you, Melinda. And finally, "Thank you" AT&T for providing me with one of the most horrific and frustrating customer experiences I have had with any company in my 53 years on this earth. It is always nice to see when a company holds its customers responsible for the mistakes it - and it alone - has made. Gives real meaning to another of your favorite expressions, "You are a valued customer!" Which, by the way, I now know is non-sense. No I am not valued. That is clear. And rest assured I will deal with that as soon as I can find an alternative to your services. If my '"Thank you"' helps one person avoid the hell that I have just endured for the last 9 days, then mom and dad were right...saying '"Thank you"' is always the right thing to do. read more

I was in the store twice. The first time, I got signed up for AT&T service by a very nice representative. However, once the bill arrived, it turned out to be a lot more expensive than I had been told. I had to call AT&T to understand the various charges. STAY AWAY- I had DSL installed by their tech. In the next 3 days, 2 of my credit cards were hacked and had to be canceled- what a PAIN that was. I called up support when my banks asked if I had any new service installed- I told them it was AT&T DSL- they said call AT&T support- I did. I was told I was being recorded. The support tech said :Oh my god- you have the wrong encryption! He made it stronger, and the problem did not recur. I called up AT&T to ask for some courtesy. AT first they denied the truth of my story. When I gave them the date and time and name of the rep who told me of THEIR mistake and the fact that the call was recorded, they said they would call me back- but it has been a year and they refuse to talk to me- STAY AWAY FROM AT&T read more
