I really enjoy the fitness class offerings: especially Turbo Kick with Katie and Kick Boxing. The workouts are hard but you don't notice it when you are having so much fun! The price you are paying per month covers the entire family, and classes during that month are unlimited. I am so happy that my family found Tracy's karate!

Alan and Alex have helped me improve my skills exponentially in such a short time and are very attentive and willing to help on an individual level with form, technique, or any questions I may have. The kickboxing classes are cardio and strength based and the Muay Tai classes, while still cardio and strength conducive, offer a chance to improve technique with partner work and sparring. We do not take martial arts from him but rather he trains my son in plyometrics and conditioning for hockey and lacrosse. Folks might not know that Riverview Martial Arts also offers several different kid and adult training opportunities in addition to martial arts. Since we have started going to him my son has noticeably improved in his hockey first three steps and Lacrosse speed, quickness and agility. I can't say enough how my son loves coming to his training sessions ( even though Master Coach really puts him through it!). The sessions are varied and tailored to his abilities to work to develop both his strengths and weaknesses in a one on one environment that is always demanding and challenging. Master Coach challenges my son's limits blowing past his comfort zone but always with respectful and conscientious coaching. My son has fun while he is improving his athleticism. I hear him grunt every once and a while and he always leaves sweaty, tired and cannot wait to come back! It's one of the only traditional martial arts schools left in Ohio. The school has very a detailed requirement documents for every belt that must be met prior to being allowed to test. You must train, practice, review, work hard and demonstrate proficiency in your techniques in order to test for your next belt. Every test requires that you demonstrate proficiency in all prior techniques including the techniques for the belt you are testing for. A Black Belt from this school is someone who understands that it is training and practice that makes a Black Belt. Our Black Belts are confident in their ability to protect and defend themselves and others. Instructors and students at this school train, work hard, and support each other with advice on how to improve your skills. I really enjoy training at this school.

The instructors did not seem equipped to teach children this young. Instead of using age-appropriate teaching methods, they often appeared impatient and failed to keep young students engaged. My child left classes feeling discouraged rather than motivated. I also felt that my family was treated differently than others, and the overall experience left us feeling unwelcome. Because of how we were treated, I chose to withdraw my child from the program. I would not recommend this school to parents of young children. If you're looking for a martial arts program for a 5-year-old, I suggest finding a school with instructors who have more experience, patience, and a welcoming approach for all families.
