Did not get my DOT long form till over two weeks after doctor checked me up. Now my license is expiring and I had to get another DOT physical done so I make appointment here. I was given an 11:00am appointment. I arrived at 11:00am was not called in to office untill 11:30am was made to sit in room#2 till 12:00pm and the aide walks in and tells me DOT physicals are $150. Bull crap. Why tell someone you will do the DOT physical at $80, make them sit around for an hour to tell them its $150?? This dude should be reported to the police or someone for being a crook!!! DONT GO THERE UNLESS YOU DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR MONEY! If DOT physical is what you need go to Concentra Urgent Care (found this online after I left these crooks) they charge $56.50 and they give you your long form same day!!!

She takes the time necessary to understand the issue and discusses it with you in a way that is caring and empathetic. The nurses are also helpful and take the time needed. Never do you feel like you are "just another patient". The office staff, led by Deborah, is top notch also. Billing and scheduling issues are non existent and they are very helpful in all aspects. I highly recommend this office and provider.

She is great at returning my calls and is very prompt about getting back to me with test results. She has always been patient with all of my questions and explains things clearly. I also had kind of a unique situation, which she always remembered, and she was very flexible with the timing of appointments and prescriptions. I actually just moved out-of-state, but I'm considering just making the trip back to Ann Arbor for my appointments with her. THAT BEING SAID - I will say the office staff here is the absolute WORST. They are nonresponsive, they never work (even during office hours, sometimes they don't answer the phone), they will lecture you if you wait too long to make an appointment, and - my personal favorite - they have on MULTIPLE occasions given me incorrect treatment information. First of all, staff should NEVER give treatment information. I'm a lawyer, and the fact that this was done horrified me. On once occasion, during an appointment, Dr. Amarnath told me to go have my blood drawn immediately, and when I went to check out, the staff member told me that I could not go to have my blood drawn because of the timing of my medication that day. I made her go back and check with Dr. Amarnath, and Dr. Amarnath promptly corrected her. The second time, Dr. Amarnath called me to change my medication dosage, and a couple days later, some staff member called me and told me a different dosage. I didn't even both following up with Dr. Amarnath, since I just assumed the staff person was wrong. In conclusion - AWESOME doctor, terrible staff, but I'm not going to knock a star off of Dr. Amarnath's review because the staff is incompetent.

She gave me a complete physical, including a gynecological exam, and made me feel quite comfortable. She discussed my birth control options with me candidly, and opted for a discussion about what the risks and benefits were rather than lecturing me or telling me what to do. I appreciated that. Making appointments at the East Ann Arbor Health Center is usually pretty easy, though some doctors have fuller schedules than others. It isn't usually to difficult to schedule a visit with Dr. Hsu. Full disclosure: a family member works at this clinic so I'm a little prejudiced in favor of this health center.

I think I'd like it a lot even if I didn't have an acquaintance there, though. The building is really comfortable, with lots of comfy chairs in the waiting area. The front desk staff is nice, and so are the medical assistants. The wait to be seen really depends on a) what doctor you're seeing and b) what time you visit. Some doctors are very prompt. Jenny Hsu and David Cooke have reasonable wait times. I've waited more than an hour past my appointment time to see Dr. Chen, though. If you schedule your appointments for early morning or just after lunch, though, you'll have a better chance of being seen relatively on time by most of the doctors.

I like the East Ann Arbor Health Center (part of the University of Michigan Health System) in…read moregeneral, and Dr. Cooke in particular. I started going to this health center based on a recommendation from someone I know who works there. I started off with one doctor, and ended up seeing Cooke on a subsequent visit. So far, though other doctors were good, Cooke is my favorite. I was diagnosed with an endocrine and autoimmune disorder a couple of years ago, and while I'm grateful to the doctor that caught it in my lab tests, she didn't have much of a bedside manner, and didn't explain things I needed to know about my condition very well. Dr. Cooke took time to answer my questions and seems to be aware of the latest protocols on treating my particular endocrine disorder. It's also important to me that a doctor treat fat patients with dignity, and I've been consistently happy with him on this issue. In fact, I've recommended him to the "Fat Friendly Health Professionals" database that's kept on the web (google it if you're curious). While I will see another doctor in the practice if he's all booked up, I would prefer to be seen by Cooke whenever possible.
