We ordered for some onion bhajis as one starter for 3 of us to share and they brought us three different starters so we ended up with 12 onion bhajis and not very hungry for the mains.

We jokingly asked for "dodgy curry" and thankfully our client knew what we meant and recommended…read morehere. The four of us descended on the place and were treated to really a pretty nice meal. Our lamb vindaloo was very good, with a nice pleasant spice, good tender lamb, and a very fruity gravy, a little more so that I typically get, but still pretty good. The butter chicken wasn't quite as flavorful as it sometimes is, but did have a pat of butter on top of the dish (hardly necessary, but why not) and the prawn disk we ordered had a similar nice dark rich gravy and lots of nice big prawns. They were shell on, which made for a bit of a mess when it came time to eat, but still very good. Our naan and papadum were also good, but...no mint corriander chutney! We probably should have asked, but it wasn't provided with the papadum. Service was attentive. I will say that this got a little expensive, but I also think that Indian food tends to be that way by the time you're done ordering all of the bread and rice and whatever else - individual entrees don't seem that expensive, but it creeps up on you by the time you're done. This is probably a very strong 3 - I'd definitely head back if given the chance.

I was looking for Indian food in Cambridge, and was recommended Saffron by a friend. I have to say…read morethat while the food is good, the service is just terrible - the next time I'm craving Indian, I will be sure to try a new place before going back here. My party of four came at around 12:30pm on a Sunday for lunch. The place was pretty empty, but it still took forever for us to be asked by a waiter what we wanted. The waiter kept trying to dissuade us from dishes without giving a reason or a suggestion for a replacement, and was pretty surprised that we each wanted rice (not included in any of the meals, by the way). We tried to order naan, but were told that we could not (nor any tandoori dish) because they were cleaning the oven. While I'm all for cleaning ovens, perhaps lunchtime during opening hours is not the time for it? (I also wish they had told us this when we were seated and/or looking at the menus, as opposed to actually in the process of ordering). Our food (3 mains) took an extremely long time to come out of the kitchen - the only other table in there, of one person, had arrived about 15 minutes after us and was served at least 5 minutes before us. When our food finally arrived, the chapathi we had ordered was completely forgotten. The curries themselves (chicken vindaloo, vegetable madras, and chicken dupiaza) were all excellent, with the dupiaza being my favorite. We had ordered paratha since we could not get naan, which was also good. The onion bhaji was nothing too special, but fine enough. The waiter finally brought out the chapathi after we asked about it, and it was decent. While trying to pay, we asked the waiter for change, as we were splitting it among four of us and only had larger bills. The waiter said that they did not have any change, but when we finally worked out who would owe what later and put our bills down, magically the restaurant suddenly had coins for change! (when I told my flatmate about these occurrences, he told me he went there by himself one time and heard the waiters making fun of him behind the small bar due to eating on his own). Any one of these things I would have written off as just a one-time occurrence, but the combination of these combined with the unapologetic and, at times, rude attitude of our waiter will make me warn people to try elsewhere in Cambridge for Indian.

We took a break here while spending the day walking around town. We were able to order lattes and hot chocolates and seat ourselves on their lounge sofas for a little while. The coffee was good, and most people seemed to be enjoying themselves, whether having a meal, or studying in small groups. I could definitely see myself hanging out here often. Cycle across nearby Parkers Piece, hang your bike on the wall, and enjoy a cup of coffee from their Cambridge Blue espresso machine!

We ordered an espresso, cafe latte and a lemon cheesecake. Cheesecake slice was a bit small, but not small enough to elicit protest of my wife. Flavor-wise it was unremarkable. The lemon flavor was there, but it was not prominent. I wish cheesecake was creamier and less sweet. It was certainly too sweet for our taste. Latte was small, served in what seemed an 8 oz glass. It was passable, but lacked flavor and was not better than a home made one, with Tesco ground beans. Sure, warm milk and caffeine are nice and comforting, but generally any other place in Cambridge can give you a latte equally good as this. Espresso was rather disappointing. It arrived flat, without crema, resembling a filter coffee more than an espresso. The beans used were good, but the extraction was faulty. The drink lacked depth in flavor and the taste dissipated in a few minutes. Espresso was served without side water. Generally, the food and drink are passable, but not exciting. I don't think I will come back soon.
