I have legimate walking challenges and cannot park far and bring my dog to park to exercise her. Fully capable able bodied High School students can walk to other parking lot for their cars. The High school students are too lazy to park in parking lot at Hazelia dog park. Why have a high school which students attend where you cannot park at the school of have permit parking makes no sense. So many students are fully able bodied capable of walking to big parking lot to get their cars yet they wanna take up spaces by dog park because too lazy to park in parking lot and take the spaces away from a disabled person who has walking challenges. Yes there's handi cap spaces in parking lot but its far to walk. Its very fustrating the High School students taking up the spaces by dog park.

A final note: if I had teenagers, I would move just to make sure they attended Lakeridge.

First and foremost, let's talk about bullying. Both my brother and I experienced bullying from staff members, which is absolutely unacceptable. Adults should not make children feel unsafe. When I tried to bring this issue up with Arbow. Her response indicated a lack of awareness or acknowledgment of the problem. This is really concerning to me, especially for parents who are considering Arbow for their children. Another incident that stands out to me is when I broke my arm. It astonished me that neither her or the office staff contacted my parents after checking on me. They had no idea what had happened, and that's simply unacceptable. There's a reason school policies exist, and not following them can lead to much worse outcomes. It raises questions about how seriously the administration takes students' safety and well-being. Additionally, I've observed that some staff members are not as kind to students with disabilities. This creates an environment where these children may feel excluded and unsafe. It seems that complaints are often overlooked in favor of maintaining a certain image, which is frustrating. It makes me doubt whether anyone is being held accountable for their actions. The overall atmosphere at Nancy Ryles feels off to me. Upon entering, it seems students are not the primary focus. The cheerful tone presented by the staff sometimes comes off as insincere; especially with Arbow. Making it feel like students are viewed more as subjects to be managed rather than individuals with genuine emotions. I worry about the potential negative impact of such an environment on children's learning. While the administration might claim students are excelling academically, I recall a time in third grade when my struggles were downplayed. If parents are kept in the dark about their child's actual progress and rights, then it becomes too easy for the administration to manipulate the truth. Parents should be empowered to advocate for their kids' safety and well-being. Let's also mention the issue of diversity and racism. When I was at Nancy Ryles I n oticed a lack of diversity among students. Discussions regarding racism were often handled superficially, failing to address its historical context or present-day implications. This lack of understanding can severely limit students' awareness and empathy. It feels as if Monica Arbow cares more about the school's image over honesty and the well-being of its students. There needs to be a greater awareness of what's happening within the school environment, alongside a commitment to listening to students' experiences. Every child deserves a supportive, nurturing place to learn. My dad makes regular visits to Arbow, and both of us expect higher standards than what we've observed, especially compared to when a more compassionate leadership was in place. The teachers are super strict and not the good kind of strict, the bad kind. The only reason why I like this place is seeing specific people here. The curriculum is HORRIBLE! No one wants to learn Latin. It's a dead language like what the heck! All the homework is very stressful and really drians out your energy whoch could affect your mental health. Parents, if you love your kid's mental health,don't take them here. They say bad things about public schools but not all public schools are bad. Our kids have been at Marylhurst for three years, and they're thriving academically, socially, and…read moreemotionally. Our fourth grader is reading at a tenth-grade level, and our first grader is doing second-grade math--but more importantly (to us), they LOVE their school and are having an awesome experience. The teachers are just exceptional. They're all deeply attuned to each child's learning style and emotional development. The narrative reports we receive twice a year are so thoughtful and insightful that it's palpable that our kids are really KNOWN and appreciated for who they truly are. Their personality quirks, the edges where they're being challenged by a concept... it's all there. The teachers seriously SEE our kids. All of the teachers we've had has been experienced, compassionate, and connected with the kids. But the best part is that our kids have fallen in love with learning, which is what we hoped for most. Our oldest was quickly becoming an anxious perfectionist at a public school in kindergarten before we made the switch, but as soon as we moved to Marylhurst, he began to expand into a flexible, growth-mindset oriented student who understands that mistakes are one of the best ways to learn. The kids get to learn not through endless worksheets or computer programs, but through student-led projects that often turn into elaborate, imagined worlds. Since the kids own so much of the process together, they are invested in their projects, and learn to collaborate across ages in blended classrooms. And the campus is beautiful; it's woodsy and peaceful, with a pond and forested trails for cross-country running. We couldn't be happier with our kids' experience at Marylhurst. It's a nurturing, inspiring community that fosters curiosity and confidence. 10/10, five stars.

Tigard High School was the location for the The Compassion Tigard Clinic…read more I'm a dental hygienist who volunteers with Medical Teams International Dental Van a couple times a year. The Van is all over the Portland Metro area at different times a year. I had no idea the Van would be part of this Compassion Clinic. It was awesome. What a great community event. I had never been to this Portland high school. But I did for a public event. This is a review of…read morethe auditorium as an event space. The auditorium is available for public rentals. The building is newer, 60's on a vast campus with more parking than most schools. The auditorium holds about 800 on the main floor and 1400 including the balcony. AV systems are up to date and the acoustics sounded good. They are easier to rent in Summer when school is out and they have their own security. Staff was solid.

All 3 of our kids went through Wilson and came out with pretty decent educations that prepared them…read morefor college. Their teachers could be meh, or they could be outstanding. All of the kids got through college and graduate school. BUT our experience was with Honors students. We have had exchange students who have been in the 'regular' classes and some of those classes are pretty sad. Not all, but some. We despair over the History curriculum in particular. The counselors are wonderful, but this is not an OES or a Jesuit, where the push to help kids get into private college is a priority. The relatively-new principal, Brian Chatard, is definitely making headway in improving the standards and pushing the school more towards responsibility and excellence. The school is solid, though not exceptional.
