I recently went through two rounds of appointments at Athletico PT's Rita Ranch location to address my pelvic floor weakness. They were recommended to me by my urogynecologist from Northwest Obgyn. My experience was excellent working with Paul and Emma thru exercises aimed specifically at strengthening my pelvic floor muscles and also leg strengthening, as some of the leg muscles are connected closely to the pelvic floor muscles. They also worked with me on balance exercises which was a separate issue that I was dealing with it. Each session ran smoothly, always starting on time, and finishing with a printed set of exercises to do at home. They also can supply the exercises thru the Athletico app if you prefer. They stressed that being diligent with the homework is essential to the program being beneficial for me. They also clearly stressed that the exercises needed to be an ongoing part of my life to keep the pelvic floor muscles from not reverting to weakness. We talked a lot about how to incorporate the exercises into my daily routine, not just being a special isolated exercise practice. For it all to work, the exercises needed to be a new part of my life. From time to time I received an online evaluation form that was used to track and assess my progress. We worked together to assess whether or not to go into a second series of appointments, which we did decide to do. My overall experience with Athletico PT at Rita Ranch was excellent. The location was convenient to me coming from Tubac to the south. The place and the equipment was super clean and the staff friendly and attentive. Even on days when it as super busy, the equipment was well assigned and, altho lots of clients at work, all ran smoothly. Pelvic floor issues are very widespread in older women. I was happy to find that my doctor directed me to PT rather than just relying on medication and surgical procedures for a solution. Many thanks to Paul and Emma for a job well done. I was happy with my progress with them and now it's up to me to keep the ball rolling in the right direction. I will most likely ago back at some point to assess my status and review the exercises that I am doing, which they suggested would be good to do at a later point in time. read more

Well this is chain physical therapy, probably everything is turning into a chain these days. As far as physical therapy goes I suppose they deserve close to five stars as far as pelvic floor therapy goes a zero, so I guess I will average this to a three. The physical therapy I received there was good for parts of me, unfortunately, I desperately needed pelvic floor therapy! At my first visit I was given a exam and told that my Kegel was in some way subpar, then that was it, there was no guidance, no direction, no hey try again, no can you feel this muscle, do you feel this? Try this.. nothing! I was just sent out to the floor for exercise and to continue to attempt that inadequate Kegel for nine visits at the end of which I was never even evaluated again to see if I had made any progress. (my doctor office seemed pretty surprised by this as well) So unfortunately that neglect severely delayed my progress, after nine weeks and many hundreds of dollars I was on my own struggling to work out the main reason that I was referred there. Also a bummer when I pointed out other pain, they seemed unwilling to listen to that since I didn't have a referral specifically for that pain. The worst thing about a chain is their need to be liked, they send numerous "check ins" checking your progress but also what you think of them, don't rate them high enough and they will offer to go over it with you (super creepy) don't fill it out and they'll make you stand there awkwardly with a tablet during the time you're supposed to be exercising to fill it out. Pros and cons, a chain means an app and easy payment. If you just need physical therapy give them a try, if you need pelvic floor therapy save your money and run for the hills, they are not pelvic floor therapist. Find a podcast, go to YouTube, find ways to help yourself. I'm yet to figure out if pelvic floor therapists even exist in this medical desert. If they do, they have to figure out a better way to let themselves be known. So far I have not encountered any billing issues. I did notice that they charge my insurance a ridiculous amount of money draining my benefits. I was charged a $40 co-pay and haven't received any unexpected bills, if any arrive I'll be back for an edit. read more

They had told us after my husband had surgery that the visits were $100/visit. They were charging $300-$400/visit and were Still paying out of pocket. They gave me over a $600 bill and I told them I could pay $25.00/mo and the Rep told me I could sent that payment but I would probably still be turned into collection because they can't accept that small amount...still owe over $550! I have zero complaints about this place. I came in with an injured shoulder and got a lot of help with getting rehabilitated. I did my PT sessions with Paul, but had interactions with a lot of other staff there. Everyone was real friendly, very professional, and genuinely interested in seeing progress in their customers. The environment was always relaxed and the facility was always clean. The sessions themselves were ideal. The sessions with Paul started off easy and gradually escalated into more challenging sessions. There was a lot of communication Paul and I shared that helped tailor the sessions to my needs. All in all, I highly recommend this place. I hope I never have to come back but if I do get hurt again, this will be my first choice. read more

I received a large surprise bill from this company ELEVEN MONTHS after receiving treatment from a PT provider they acquired during the course of my treatment. They never informed me I would be billed differently under the new company, but I definitely was. It's not clear to me whether that resulted from them no longer being in my insurance network or if they just bill very differently than the provider did when he was independent. My advice is to skip these big companies and look for an independent provider if you can find one. I won't be using Athletico again after this experience. I had an excellent experience with my physical therapist, Ben, and the technicians Devin and Damian, even Paul and Katie helped me out. Can't forget them or Dayanna at the front desk. They all helped me tremendously with my left shoulder rehabilitation, getting me to a point where I have a normal range of motion, and almost my original level of strength, too. I may be complete with my physical therapy, but I still have a ways to go to get where I want with my shoulder. The therapists were great, but they advertise the first visit/assessment as free and their collections is now trying to charge me full price for this. I also specifically asked their front desk exactly how much each visit would cost with my insurance, after being told a reasonable price, I went a few times and here again their collections are trying to charge me an additional $30 for each visit. Do not go here for pelvic floor physical therapy! This is Maximum Impacts only location that does pelvic floor physical therapy and they shouldn't! Paul is the only person who "specializes" in this and clearly does not know what he is doing. The location is clearly not setup for this, the room they use for this very personal thing is an over sized closet. It is adjacent to the main therapy area which does not give much privacy. To make it even worse Paul left the door cracked open while we were talking about my vagina. It's a good thing I'm not shy because I'm sure the teenage boy and other therapists that were in the adjacent room could hear everything. When he went to do an actual examination of my vagina he used HAND SANITIZER instead of LUBE. This caused extreme irritation and burning. Considering I was already having issues (hence going to physical therapy for my vagina) this was absolutely detrimental to me. I was in complete shock and couldn't even put my thoughts together until hours later. Paul was entirely unhelpful, not even showing me where a bathroom was so I could try to clean up and gave no ideas to ease the immense pain. His only suggestion was to stop the exam (DUH!). If someone has to go to physical therapy for something this delicate the place doing the therapy should understand this and be careful to not to do something like this which makes matters so much worse. I called the next day to explain what happened and said that I believed I should get refunded for the deductible I paid (since this made my issue way worse, not better). I had to wait an extra day to talk to the district manager but they ended up agreeing. However, a month latter I received a bill from them for the entire cost of the visit. Turns out all they had done was refund my deposit, they didn't actually cancel it with my insurance which messed the whole thing up. The building is not setup for pelvic floor physical therapy, Paul is a disaster and they messed up the billing. All around this was a detrimental experience to me, my sanity and my vagina. read more
