The gym itself is dirty and dingy. Some of the equipment is old and needs to be updated/fixed. Besides that, the people were super kind and helpful. If you're ever in the area and are looking for a place to workout and feel cool while doing it- this does the job. i went to the gym about 2 weeks ago to find a trainer. The owner said that the trainer was not in but he would have her call me later that day. She finally called me back today after 2 weeks. i asked her a few questions to understand her level of experience and expertise since i know a few people who have had bad results from trainers and injured themselves. She told me she was a trainer for six years and took an online course to get qualified. i also told her i have a tear in a rotator so i would need someone who pays great attention to form. She said was i looking for physical therapy and i said not at all i'm looking for strength training but i need to be closely watched to make sure i'm properly executing the form. She said she had 3 sessions available a week and i asked her what times. She told me and then out of nowhere said "the energy on this call is not good sir so i won't be able to work with you" and hung up. It was one of the rudest interactions i've had. Because i ask about someone's qualifications is no reason to react the way she did. It indicates to me an insecurity with her skill level and ability to properly do her job. I had high expectations after reading the other reviews but i would say the trainer does not represent the gym well read more

The owner goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and the locals are a down to earth bunch. They have an assortment of drinks and powers if you forgot to pack yours. Stopped in for a workout. Met Anna, an Atilis Gym rep, at the front desk. She was wonderful explaining the facility and my financial responsibility. Went back next day and met Chris Lambert, business manager/ owner. His upbeat personality and enthusiasm made me feel comfortable in my new surroundings. Atilis has free weights, weight machines, and cardio equipment you will be hard pressed to find in other facilities. There are young, old, families, all shapes and sizes to the most seasoned body builders. Chris enthusiastically welcomes everyone. It is very clean here and has every bit of equipment to complete a good workout. Upon entering the gym, me and my girlfriend were greeted by the owner who was extremely nice and hospitable. If you're at the shore, this is the place to get your workouts done. Yes, it's a short drive from Avalon or Stone Harbor, but it's worth it. Copious weight, aerobic, and cable machines, plus a large free weight area with racks, benches, dumbbells, and much more. The latter is the main reason I want to go to Atilia's versus elsewhere. Side note, if you're using fractional plates, they don't have them, bring your own. Didn't see any loaner belts or straps, bring your own. The owner was present when I was there, and he is friendly and helpful. There were serious lifters but also many casual exercisers (those are what we call aerobic and machine users) so no matter your experience or style you'll feel at home here. The environment is laid back; do your thing, nobody cares. Just put your weights back, don't hog a station, don't grunt unless the weight is seriously heavy -- the usual requirements. The price for the week was reasonable, about $34. Parking in the lot across the street. Atilia has a location in Avalon as well but it is smaller. read more

Awesome gym to come into while on vacation. I visited the Wildwood location, which is smaller than the others, but has a good variety of equipment! There are machines and free weights, cardio equipment, and small outdoor training area. Really cool old-school weightlifting vibe here! Pics of Arnold and other bodybuilders line the walls, and the rock music is energizing. Most importantly, everyone is friendly and respectful! The owner Chris greeted and chatted with us, and another trainer (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name!!) gave us compliments and advice. The place is pretty clean (considering it's old) and organized. Really reasonable drop in price for the day and week. Come in, stay as long as you want. Parking is a bit of an issue...the lot is tiny and people double park. I needed a gym to frequent during my one week stay in wildwood. After checking out some of the competition I immediately knew that Atilis would be my best choice. It's not a gigantic gym (which I often think is better and more useful to navigate anyway) but they pack a ton of awesome equipment into the place. Everything was in good condition and there was a varied assortment of both machines and free weights. I was shocked at how clean and well maintained the facility was considering the high foot traffic. Price was fair at about $6 per day for a week pass. I definitely feel I got what I paid for and then some. Most importantly, Chris, the owner was a GREAT guy. His enthusiasm and positive and friendly nature lends a lot to the gym's environment. As I was doing research for my boyfriend's and my weekend in Cape May, I stumbled across Atilis Gym's Yelp page. The across-the-board 5-star ratings made me skeptical: no way in hell that any business is liked by EVERYONE. After training at Atilis Gym, I see why this gym is, in fact, LOVED by everyone. We visited Cape May on June 6-7. The first day we arrived it was raining. Like, serious torrential downpour. Parking was easy, there's plenty of on-street meters as well as a small parking lot for gym members. We step into Atilis and were immediately greeted by the owner, Chris, who joked about the "perfect beach weather" and made us feel very welcome. The first thing I noticed about this place was that it was HUGE and very organized with room to walk; you're not forced to slip in between machines just to get to the other side of the floor. It had the old-school vibe I love about my home gym (shoutout to Muscle Mill in Milltown! lol) but seemed non-threatening to non-lifters and sporadic exercisers as well. My boyfriend and I were never waiting for a bench or machine; like I said, the place is HUGE and is filled with every machine you will need. Some of the plates were a bit loose on the dumbbells, and we couldn't find a key to tighten them. No worries, that just means they're getting used, which is great :) The next day we returned, and Chris welcomed us again for "round 2". I liked that he remembered us. If I were to make a suggestion on ANYTHING about this gym, maybe allow chalk? It's the shore, it gets HUMID and hot. My Converses and grip felt slippery on one of the T-bar row machines. Or maybe I'm just a sweating monster, I don't know. Overall, this is definitely one of the best gyms I've ever been to, from the customer service from Chris and the girls at the front desk to the availability of the equipment and overall vibe; my boyfriend and I will definitely be returning. read more

Every year I am on vacation I hit up this gym. You can tell this gym is owned by a real weight lifter. Multiple squat racks, well stocked with plates, benches, hammer strength equiptment. Plus there is all kinds of motivation BBing pics on the walls by the free weight area. Last time I went the lady at the desk didn't have change and I trusted her with a $50.00 and she hunted me down during my workout with my change. Hands down one of the last few real gyms in Jersey hell probably the world. I vacation in Cape May with my gf and her parents probably 6-7 times a year. No visit is complete until I come here. True old school bber gym. They have the pictures on the wall to prove it. None of the new bullsh!t machines they have the good ol ones from the 70's and 80's nice free weight area and they have a decent amount of tredmills if you actually enjoy cardio. Good mix of young and old just all around great gym. This is what a gym is supposed to be so if your expecting a planet fitness or a w.o.w go home its not for you. Ok so I was down at the Firemen's convention and didn't want to miss the gym. I found Atilis and decided to check it out. I bought a 3 day pass and it was a little pricey at $27 when I consider I pay $45/mo at my local gym but it is right in line with every other gym offering short term passes. The place was clean and well organized. Plenty of options cardio, free weights and weight machines. This gym has an old school vibe and I really enjoyed it. There was a mix of people working out old and young. Everyone was very friendly. I heard the owner Chris is s great guy, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet him. If you are looking for showers, steam rooms and the like this place isn't for you. Bring your own towel or you can buy one at the front desk there is no towel service. Like I said an old school gym. I have belonged to my share of gyms. Atilis is by far and away my favorite and the best. It's starts with the owner who's positive energy and attitude is infectious. He walks the walk in terms of fitness and the industry. Chris truly cares about the member experience and wants to see everyone hit their fitness goals regardless if you are a beginner or advanced which is very motivating. The place just has its own unique, high energy vib which helps a lot in terms of pushing yourself, making you want to keep going back, and hit your goals. That does not exist in big chain gyms or any other place I ever belonged. Atilis has everything in terms of weight training and cardio which makes it easy to get in and out when time is tight. As an avid gym goer (I'm jacked), this place is perfect for all, whether you're a tourist looking to get a lift in, or you're in the midst of training, this gym is hands down the best in a 20 mile radius. There are a couple sections to the gym, including cardio zones, machines, free weights, racks, an outside zone, and even some cross fit type gear (TRX's and Kettlebells). The whole gym is clean and very friendly. Most importantly the staff is absolutely great. From the moment my friends and I walked in, we felt that we were at our home gym. The lady at the front (she could probably have beaten us up) made an immediate effort to know our names. The rest of the staff was friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home and help us out. I visit Wildwood each year and this year I found the gym to workout! I called Atilis ahead of time and was told that it is $10 a day, 2 days for $18 or a week for $35. I opted for a full week and it was well worth it! The gym is well equipped and the guy at the counter (Pete) was very helpful. They have plenty of cardio machines, tons of free weights and all sorts of machines! I'll get a weeks membership on my next summer vist! read more
