We've been tracking for a couple weeks…read moretrying to decide which weekend to make the drive out for a show; it's about an hour from our home. The Saturday showtimes seem to be 10am and 1:30pm. We were aiming for a puppet show last weekend but landed on a science show this weekend and I'm so glad we did! We got to see "Noreen the Science Queen" and engage in a live show with her. Not only was she amazing, but it was so wonderful to expose our girls to a woman in STEM and, more special for them, a Black woman in STEM. After the show, Noreen the Science Queen greeted the attendees in the lobby. She was open for pictures, and was selling both science kits for at home experiments and copies of her book. She is also available for birthday parties!! Now about the Cultural Arts Center, they currently have two exhibits: (1) there is an art show in the lobby in honor of Juneteenth and visitors get to vote on their favorite three (2) there is an exhibit of toys and games from the 1800s on the second floor. We didn't go up to check it out.

I attended a musical performance of the group Abilene on a Saturday night. I truly enjoyed everything about the experience. First, the theater is relatively small, and most seats are not too far from the stage. I had lucked out and was able to purchase a seat in the front row, which is 10 to 15 feet away from the stage. The performance by Abilene was simply spectacular. They describe themselves as a neo classical ensemble. I love the way they took some classical pieces by composers, such as Bach in Vivaldi, deconstructed them, reconstructed them, and made them their own. The peace, entitled Cascades was probably my favorite. It was inspired by the mountain range in the Pacific Northwest. The passionate playing near the end by both the cellist and the violinist was extraordinary. I also love the way they created a peaceful environment during their performance. They had a fog machine or smoke machine, as well as different colored lights used with each song. I also appreciated having David Crowe, the cultural arts coordinator, introduce the group, as well as tell us a little bit about the upcoming performances. While the tickets for next season don't go on sale until May, I'm ready to purchase tickets for more shows in 2023 and into 2024. Cheers

Next thing I know I got an email with new dates. They have gotten a customer for life and I will be there every season for a show. We travel 30 miles each way and gladly do it.

I don't want to compare to cirque du Soleil, but will for those wondering: I'd say cirque du Soleil is a tier above considering the abilities of the performers and the transitions between acts, AND Cirque Italia is priced accordingly! It's about half the price of cirque du Soleil. It's definitely worth the price of the tickets! It's up to you if you want to spend more once inside (concessions, glow toys, etc.). That will make the event much more expensive, but it doesn't have to be -- the choice is yours. Lol I definitely recommend this show. I'm sad to say that I haven't made it to a theatrical performance yet but did enroll my daughter in their fall Stories Come Alive! class. The class taught beginner techniques and storytelling to young elementary children and seemed to be enjoyed by all. I was also impressed by Kyle's (the theatre's education manager) presence during classes and overall involvement and communication. I would definitely enroll my daughter in a future class and plan to attend an upcoming performance in the spring!

AWP has allowed him opportunities to meet with industry professionals, especially on trips like this. They also provide workshops to learn more about the acting world to help him be successful. We especially love the relationships and friendships he builds with the other people in the group. The directors of the studio- Lynn and Don- have created such a positive, encouraging, and uplifting space. One where everyone feels safe, comfortable, and welcome. It's truly a beautiful thing! I cannot say enough good things about AWP! It's the perfect place to learn acting! You won't regret checking them out!

Wifey and I went to the Dancing Goat to see one of her friends perform in "Almost, Maine"...a play…read morethat consisted of about a dozen vignettes on all aspects of "love." The play was quite well done and we enjoyed it immensely. Obviously, some of the vignettes were preferred over others, but all were done in the great spirit of Community Theater...and made for a very enjoyable Saturday evening "date night." The Theatre itself is a small, community one...and perfect for this type of play where the focus is definitely on the actors themselves and the interactions...bigger, broader ones may not fit in this relatively small place. I highly recommend...we will go back...wifey got the brochure of upcoming events...looking forward to a couple of them.

It feels old, anyway. They have all kinds of cool stuff being shown and performed here, and even though their prices are not cheap, it is definitely a great addition to a lovely little - rich - community. The whole "family friendly, filth free" thing makes me roll my eyes, though, really.

The acoustics are amazing. Tonight we came out to see Aretha Franklin... Portrait of a Queen starring CC Teneal. Newly renovated theater in Marietta Square. They serve light refreshments which are very affordable. Tonight's performance is great the bass player is extremely talented. The songtress has an excellent voice...but no one compares to Aretha!
