It gave me a choice of music which I dig. Hopefully next year they will put the type of music each band plays next to their name in the program. From the large old growth trees to weathered marble mausoleums, there is an air of the old world the exudes relaxation in nature. The gardens are fresh and vibrant with smells of rosemary and other flowering plants wafting in the air. Two main stages bounce tunes off the markers and hills as you are free to enjoy local craft beer and divine food truck noms. Free tours go on throughout the day and you are always welcome to meander through the plots at your leisure. The only warnings I give people are: people will lay on gravesites and markers. If that makes you uncomfortable, know it will happen en masse. Secondly, the beer lines are longgggg. Often over 50 people deep, buy two and carry with. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, but leave your coolers at home. I carry a camelbak with me for water and that's a-ok. There is something surreal and relaxing about how luscious the gardens are and how vibrant the people and music are when combined in this place. Probably goes back to the original design of this land as a city park. If you haven't been, put it on the calendar now!

There, we were given a bag which contained a water bottle, some booties, and a booklet which included a map, background on each house, and featured sponsers. There were seven homes available for viewing and one church. I ended up driving to each home, though walking is an option if you're up for a good walk in between some locations. I drove because it was rainy and plus I wasn't sure about how far apart each house would be. Street parking was not an issue at all. There was plenty of space available, although this may have been because of the rain. In each home was set up a local restaurant, which offered samples to tourist. This was a very nice touch. A few that I remember include Noche, Timone's, Moore Farms, and La Tavola. Though I don't remember which restaurants served what, I can tell you that I enjoyed lobster bisque, tomato soup, quesadilla (Noche), skewered beef (Noche), a most delicious banana pudding and assorted pastries, bacon wrapped dates (Noche), mozzarella cheese and tomatoes in a basil sauce, fresh apples and cheese (Moore Farms), and salami and cheese. Everything was quite good. Some restaurants had coupons that could be used for a future visit. You had to put on the provided booties or take your shoes off to enter each home. Some people were walking around bare footed (and might I add, EEEwwwww) but most had on the booties or some socks. The homes were beautiful and totally inspiring. I loved every minute of observing the decor and learning the backgrounds of the homes. Also, some of the home owners were present as strangers went all around their homes. Understandably, there were some areas that were not a part of the tour and these areas were clearly marked. At each home, volunteers were available to help tourist and ensure that everyone was respectful of each home. They also were able to answer any questions that one may have had about the home. At each home, the greeter would sign your book to acknowledge that you had been to that home. I don't think they allow but one visit per home. Tickets for this event were $25 in advance and $30 at the door. All in all, I really enjoyed this event and I thought it was well organized. Homes were clearly marked, the maps were accurate and provided addresses, and everyone working the event was pleasant and helpful. 5 stars all day long.

In 2013, there were 9 stops- 8 homes and Briarcliff Summit (for the first time ever on the tour). Ticket pick-up, parking, and volunteer sign-in was at the YWCA. A nice central location for the event. You get a nice tote with a few items- including bottled water, which can come in handy. How it works: You have the choice of taking the tour on a Saturday or Sunday. Walk or drive around to the different locations on the map. When you enter the home, a volunteer will cross off on the map that you have entered the home. You can only enter once. Other volunteers will be available to direct you and potentially tell you facts about the home and answer questions. In each of the 8 homes, neighborhood restaurants set up shop to serve mini servings of their dishes. Note that you will need to wear booties or go barefoot in the homes in order to protect the owners' flooring. Pros: I appreciated the food since I had been volunteering during an early shift. The food from the restaurants was great for the most part and some offered coupons so that you could try them out in full at a discount. A nice variety of homes and few were very special. I appreciate the homeowners opening their homes to us. The crowds were all in good spirits even though it was a rainy and chilly day. Cons: The first house I went to was out of food just as we arrived. And there were HOURS left of the tour. So that was disappointing. All the other restaurants had food left as we went around though. Not enough time on Sunday for the entire tour if you are volunteering. I wish it had been open one hour later. Take home: I plan to go again next year.

I had purchased a Groupon prior giving us the VIP status which only meant that we can take our time in the exhibits but there was not a crowd anyway. Also everything young lady there who had a suitcase with various wardrobe changes. Maybe she was doing a birthday shoot but I thought that it was very ingenious to change into outfits and have different looks while you're doing your pictures. It was also a gentleman there. I guess he was shooting a music video. He was using the boxing bags and he also went upstairs to the swing and was all on the floor creating a low budget video from what I can gather from it ! The place has several different exhibits from the angel wings to smiley faces to telephone prompts and even a little room with lots of neo colored lights is something for everyone and something that I believe you would find interesting and cute to capture your selfies.

With (free) entry, you get tickets for free popsicles and some field day game play. I look forward to the King of Pops Field Day all year long. It's my favorite festival by a mile. Sure, it has a slight advantage what with giving away the best popsicles in the world for free..but it's more than that - it's fun for kids and adults! Besides the field day games - which I find endlessly entertaining, there's live music and a photo booth - another one of my favorites. Not to mention food trucks (Yumbii!!) I also love that they still hold it in the fall, so the weather is comfortable (though it did get quite warm this weekend). Can't wait until next year.

I thought there was going to be more going on than just the bands, but it looked like that was it. There wasn't as much artwork and other vendors as I thought there would be. It normally takes place during Memorial Day Weekend. When I went to my first one in Atlanta is 2008, I was extremely disappointed. Why? I've been spoiled, I'm accustomed to going to the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn. In comparison, this one was pathetic. However, this year the parade took a step in the right direction. There was more spectators and participants in the Parade. If you've never been to a West Indian Parade, expect to hear loud music, people dressed in elaborate costumes, dancing, great food, and an all around good time. While many of the participants are of West Indian, African, and Latino descendant, all are welcome. After the parade you can go to Festival Village for a small fee. It's basically a section of the city that's blocked off. There's food vendors, live music from Caribbean artists, and plenty of knick knacks being sold. For a full out experience, go to one of the many parties that will be occurring during the weekend.

Ms. Rose didn't have the girls that was apart of her Carnival wear a costume. K Brown and about (5) other girls wore a tee-shirt and whatever else they wanted to wear with the tee-shirt. K Brown marched around downtown, Atlanta with the other girls behind a truck that was playing music. K Brown doesn't participate in the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival anymore because K Brown is working now. Ms. Rose was in an accident in Belize, whereas her jaw broke. K Brown was going to wear the army colors and be apart of a different group, but a couple of her items got stolen from her house in Lilburn, Georgia, therefore K Brown doesn't participate in the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival anymore. K Brown would love to attend the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival for the fun and food. Thank you.
