I wish I could give a zero rating!!! I am submitting a claim to The Georgia medical board for everything that happened to me during my visit and after my visit. It was 100% unprofessional and even dangerous. I wish I would have looked at the reviews before coming to this office. Dr Klopper used to be a thorough & compassionate doctor with care. The office was ran with great professionalism. I can confidently say it has somehow over the last 10-15 yrs became a 3 ring circus without the consistency for communicating and getting appointments. it's truly been bizarre to see it go downhill in all aspects. My family in years past were treated there and my brother , son& are now dead. I get calls from the practice on my parents landline as they attempt to contact some unknown patient unrelated to us. Despite explaining that they have mixed medical records , it continued. They were never able to help anyone in the family and of course now I just feel control of their quality of care was lost when they overloaded patients they seemingly could not manage. Doctors came and went strangely. Why else besides greed would that be? There favorite method to treat patients seems to always be hospitalization now in horrific places for all ages. Have you ever seen these places we have in the US? Horrific and no help period. They just have failed in this country with mental health. They don't care. No money to better our system. Disheartening it is- I wish I knew when Klopper began to lose sight. My son , my brother, are both dead from self causes now. My mother never seemed to have a problem with obtaining Xanax for over 40 years and now has such sudden serious dementia from it that at 75 she is unable to function & declining daily rapidly. When I pass the practice, I feel great sadness as a mother to have taken my son there who was extremely schizophrenic with auditory hallucinations but never could they offer him the ability to sleep and or any relief period. He was on every medicine known to be manufactured. Then his doctor leaves due to his own age and illness and we were stuck in the cold. At some point the Xanax prescriptions that were freely given to ones who were not in need ended . There were many patients who needed fast acting Benzodiazepam a that could not get it because they had came to realize they gave it freely, then adopted the idea that it would never be used again. Strictly clonazepam which for rare cases isn't the right choice. Doctors burn out and when they do , they need to stop practicing. There again comes the greed. If it were truly quality of care as a focus, he would have restructured the entire practice with help if needed to get back to a respected place of care. I have been a patient of Atlanta Behavioral Care since December of 2020. Dr. Jeffrey Klopper has earned my trust. Dr. Klopper really cares about my me as his patient. Dr. Klopper treats me with the utmost dignity and respect. He always conducts himself in a professional manner. Dr. Klopper listens to me and makes appropriate clinical decisions based on material facts. The entire staff greet me and treat me with dignity and respect and are very attentive to my needs. My medical records are available to me upon request and in a timely manner. Dr. Klopper's documentation is on point as his documentation covers every aspect of my treatment plan as well as updated progress notes. I would very highly recommend Dr.Klooper! They will try to kill you here!!! They don't listen to you. They don't go by their charts and I have been established patient for 8 to 10 years and my last visit I was sitting for an hour and a half until I was finally helped for them to take my payment and then I was not returned payment by Dr. blessing she refused to see me, so therefore I had to go with Dr. Clopper and all he did was try to put me on more medication and lower my other medication's and I have seizures due to anxiety and depression and panic attacks but yet he only called in a two week supply!!! And it makes you wonder where all your money goes when you pull up to the building and it looks like a dump!!! The only thing that is good. They have a nice playground for my daughter to play on when she does come to the doctor visits with me but no, this is a lawsuit waiting to happen!!! read more

Do not bother sending your loved one here - especially if they are in crisis (when you really need a doc). THEY DO NOT CARE. Initial appointment is 30 minutes, I asked for an hour appointment and was told by Arlene (who should not be on the phones) that Dr. Klopper doesn't do an hour appointments. I asked if I could submit all the medical records and have the doc read them prior to my family member arriving - I would pay for this - everything I asked, I would pay for - not asking for anything free. These are the worst psychiatrists I've ever had. I have been waiting for them to fill a prescription for two days now that they were supposed to have filled over a month ago, and they still haven't done it. I have talked to them over the phone several times and have even come into the office, and still nothing! And to make matters worse, this isn't the first time they've done this! Dr. Klopper is of one a kind. My appointments with him are usually informative, therapeutic, and overall empathic. This staff gets to know you very well and are very sweet. Overall, the office operates like a close nit family, and they work very well together. Arlen is a great nurse as she is very caring and strategic. If you want a relationship with a doctor who will spend the time to get to know you and consider your situation in an empathic and therapeutic manner, he is your guy! This place has saved my life so many times. There are some times longer wait times that's to be expected at any drs office. You don't know what emergencies they are dealing with and it could be you one day in an emergency situation. I use to come here years ago when I was not doing so good mentally. I stopped going here for a while but then came back to Atlanta Behavioral care . Dr klopper is a lifesaver he tells you the truth and prescribes medication that works for you and if it's not working he will work with you to get you on the correct medication. This is the worst doctor's office I've ever dealt with in my life. Dr. Klopper himself is alright in that he seems to know his stuff and knows a lot about medications, but it's hard to believe he can treat his patients properly when he only gets 10 mins with them. In addition to that, he's been 2-5 hours late for each of our appointments. What's even worse is the staff. If Beth answers she'll most likely sound irritated that you're even daring to waste her time by calling, and then put you on hold until you give up. If she says she'll call you back, she's lying. Beth strung me along for two weeks waiting for a prior authorization for my meds while it turned out she wasn't even sending it. I finally had to get my insurance company to call Dr. Klopper's office while I was on hold to get anywhere, after two weeks of calling daily and being put on hold indefinitely and being told I'd get calls back that never came. The only helpful person was Annie, but I only got her once when calling. The time I did get her she got done in 10 minutes what Beth was pretending to work on for two weeks. Beth will claim it's because they're so busy to remove responsibility from herself for not doing her job, but if that is true, maybe they should hire enough staff to run their business properly OR try not to schedule so many 5-10 minute appointments per day that the doctor can't even provide proper care. It's clear they don't care about their patients and they just exist to charge co-pays and prescribe whatever meds your came to get. Additionally, they told me I owe them over $300 for my first appointment 6 months ago because they filed it as if I had chosen to pay out of pocket and put down $30 on it, even though they had my insurance info and only charged me $30 because that was my co-pay. Don't bother with this group. No one answers the phone. I was missing a refill and it took 5 days to get anyone on the phone. AVOID BETH. She will not do anything. You are lucky to get anyone to answer. I had no meds because the office never graduated from HS. That's a requirement. I have been going through withdrawals for antidepressants because I could NOT get the office to do their job! It's against the law to force a patient into going cold turkey on meds! Well, I've been out. My insurance states they haven't seen a request since March! I had it filled 6/2 and no refill. So, I have been going through withdrawals. Dizzy, sweating, can't think, vomiting, haven't eaten. Do not see anyone at this clinic. Clinic wait times are 4 hours minimum. Staff is non existent. Klopper is ok if you want 3 minutes to get a refill after waiting hours! It's just not worth it any longer. Arlene is the manager. But, you can't get her either. I love Dr. Golightly, and if you know the system, which the staff won't tell you bc they are evil, you won't have to wait. After checking in, you go back by his office and sit. It's really fast. HOWEVER... How can one file complaints on the staff so that action can be taken? I cannot get my records from them for my ss disability case. I signed and have a copy of the dated release as well as a witness if when this transpired, and recorded the girl telling me it would take up to 30 days by law to prepare them, but they'd have them likely in 2 wks. I called this week to her telling me off that they never received that release and that basically they are too busy answering phones and cannot give me any idea when they'll get to it. This is a rundown dump!! We waited 2 1/2 weeks for the "first available" appointment. The appointment time was 2:00 pm. We arrived at 1:40 to fill out paperwork. At 2:20 the receptionist had not even started on my son's paperwork!! Once we were called up we were told the cost and told it was for only 30 minutes! What? A new patient for only a half hour?? When I called to make the appointment I was not told this. Had I known I would not have scheduled. Another lady there said she had been waiting 4 hours for her appointment! The office was very rundown, even the show on tv was a rerun from like the 60's. The women's bathroom was disgusting. One broke down toilet, one mildly clean toilet. The faucet did not work. This place is run-down, old, not clean. They have large parrots in one of the rooms with newspaper and bird shit all over the floor. Why? Trying to make an appointment is a nightmare too. I have been on hold for hours each time I try and make an appointment. No lie. The phone has also rang off the hook for 20 minutes before. Then, when I am in the office with my doctor, he answers phone calls on speaker! I have legit heard people's full names, medicines they are on, and phone numbers. This has to be illegal. I had an appointment scheduled for 5:30 pm. At 6 pm, Dr. Klopper arrived in the building. Meanwhile, I sat in the lobby waiting for my appointment. At 6:45, more than an hour after my scheduled appointment and 45 minutes after Klopper arrived, I remained in the lobby. No one explained to me what was going on or why the appointment was running late. I eventually left. I understand that wait times are expected in the medical profession. But there is no excuse for lack of communication. And it's not like Klopper had another patient in front of me -- he didn't. read more

Wait times are to be expected when you are pretty much the only provider in town that will actually see adolescents. The fact that they will see teens with depression places Dr Klopper at the top of the list. I have compassion for those that need to complain, but please try to be the one who can see the forest for the trees in this situation. It is a wonder of all wonders that Jeffrey Klopper is still able to practice medicine. If you're really interested in the care he provides, go to the State Court of Fulton County case search and you can find his pending medical malpractice claim where he totally ignored the fact that a patient had an obvious case of neuroleptic malignant syndrome due to a medication he was giving and pretty much let her die by his negligence and failing to respond to her deteriorating condition. The statements I've seen in this court record are consistent with the care I've seen Dr. Klopper provide patients over the years. He's that doctor who comes into pediatrics at 4 AM and makes nurses drag kids out of bed so he can see them for 45 seconds and bill on them, flies through adult inpatients before noon with an obvious focus on billing, and then goes to the office where his outpatients have been languishing in the waiting room for hours. He will never look you in the eye and is always staring at his phone. He has no interest in speaking to you and wants to push brand name drugs- despite whether or not they are effective. In my professional opinion, having had to work with this man, his license should be revoked as he hurts more than he helps. I can't comment on the doctors at this practice, but I can comment on the fact that I was referred and called to make an appointment. The first woman answered the phone and was nice and helpful. The second woman I spoke to was VERY RUDE to the point where I ended up saying I would find somewhere else because I did not want to be treated like that. Clearly not a good omen when you are looking for psychiatric care. I am lucky I am in a decent place right now because that behavior could really set someone over the edge. My impression of this office is outstanding. There was no wait, and I could go on forever about how smart, kind, and innovative my psychiatrist, Dr. Golightly, is. Even for those who do have to wait, I'm certain you feel it is worth it because of the cutting edge psychiatry help you are receiving. He took the time to get to know me, outside of my diagnosis. He explored my past experiences with my illness and came up with a treatment plan that went right to the heart of my issues. He came up with a plan that was assertive, and made sure that if anything went wrong, I could reach out. The scheduler was very kind and the receptionist was likewise assertive at getting what she needed from me, all bark and no bite. Highly recommend this office and these doctors! read more

In the spirit of fairness I won't use names. But if you don't have a good relationship with your doctor, or if you're new, run! I've been with my doctor for 7 years, he's been there for half of it. He doesn't want to be there either, but he's an older guy, and can't work full time; his previous office went corporate, demanded full time hours and wanted to triple his count. Yeah, medicine is about money it seems I could write a lot more, but I'll just relate my best story quickly. I went for my appointment, first slot of the day. I had a stomach virus, dehydrated, wanted to get in and out. I checked in once they had their systems up, which took about 30 mins. The owner of the place won't pay them until the doors open. I needed to use the bathroom BADLY, it was closed, but a sign said the other bathroom, the clean one that the nurses use, was available if needed. But not if you're sick apparently. Fully available for them and for pee testing though. I just went outside, got sick, they of course were aware, I was berated by the office manager, she's is unpleasant and incompetent. I was rewarded with another hour wait while FIVE other patients saw my doctor. He was horrified, but as a "contractor" he had no status either. So expect everything else in other reviews, and more. Dr. Golightly is my doctor and he is good. The problem I have is the front office. Whenever I have called with a problem, I have never been called by my doctor. They simply do not care about the patient. They recently sent me a bill from two missed appointments, which I've never missed an appointment. I was able to get one taken off because it showed I went a couple days early. The staff is rude and they treat patients like they are just crazy people, with no regards. They need a full over hall of the front office. Particularly the Black girl in front is simply just nasty, she rude and mean to the patients. The front office is completely and totally nasty and unprofessional. The rep at the desk window 4, got up and walked away as I was politely speaking with her and asked questions to understand the situation. She also answered a call purposely as I was explaining things from my perspective. The issue is that my insurance company faxed them a request for my records on 12/19/2018 and 12/21/2018. However they failed to fax my records both times. At this point, the last day to fax is today or my job is in jeopardy. I drove to the office and obese woman at window 4 initially told me that the medical team is not in. I later found out that there is no medical team. The front desk is actually the medical team and she essentially lied in order divert the responsibility onto someone else. The truth is, she is responsible for sending medical records. This woman did not care that she could cost me my job because she failed to do hers. They ignored the first 2 requests and did not acknowledge that. Plus she denied to send the docs today while I was in the office. I have never been treated in this manor. She was disgusting. I've heard rumors and read reviews and they are all negative. They appear to be frustrated and under staffed. However, my situation required immediate attention which I did not get. If I lose my job, I will be sure to get an attorney. It is the worst place I have ever been. I had to wait an hour and 40 minutes to be seen and told me they took a patient before me because I am new. I told them I needed to go but if they rescheduled me they would charge me which is insane. The PA was nice but warned me waiting is "normal". What sent me over the edge when I asked them the first time to call my pharmacy to approve my medication I heard nothing. Two weeks later I asked them to call me and to approve the meds. They called the next day to say they appoved the meds and charging me $25 for the "appoval fee". They said this is normal for dr"s to do this but thats not true. I canceled my future appoints because I do not have time to wait nor have money to give to this irresponsible practice. DO NOT go to this place and seeking a way to have this practice investigated. read more

The entire front office, including the manger should be fired! I arrived to my appointment at 4:05 because my appointment was at 4:15. At 4:35, she calls me up to verify my insurance, (it hasn't changed), she didn't even check me in yet. Then she magically made up that I owed $60 for the visit, I told her I have a deductible plan which I've met and I'm not paying anything today. Then the extremely loud , rude "office manger" came up and said they always collect even on a deductible plan. This makes no sense since if the office has not billed my insurance yet, how would they know what I owed? She then tried to explain to me what a "deductible" insurance is, I told her I verify insurance for a neurosurgery department so I'm well aware of how insurances work. I think they are racist becuase they treated me like dumb white trash when I actually know how to treat patients. These people are disgusting, should not be allowed to work in healthcare, especially if you don't understand insurance and try to collect fraudulent payments. I already reported them to state. I am giving two stars instead of one, but only because of a particular nurse practitioner who works there. She is the one I see for my appointments and I think she is great. But I can't say the same for the other doctors. The wait time is ridiculous. Even if you arrive on time, sometimes you have to wait two hours to be seen. It is also hard to get an appointment when you need one. If they don't have an available appointment until after you've run out of medication, you are usually screwed. it is rare that they will fit you in or call in refills for you. read more

Honestly awful. I can never get an appointment when I need to, everything is always booked until at least a month in advance. I don't understand why but I am always waiting 1+ hours in the waiting room to see my psychiatrist. I have read other reviews and this appears to be a pattern. Whilst in Ridgeview I had the same psychiatrist, Dr. Klopper, and I was told to expect daily visits around 7 PM. He would always show up around 8:30 to 9. And, out of the hospital I am still forever waiting, as last time I had an appointment here it was at 5:45 but I did not physically see my doctor until almost 9 PM. As a college student with a job and classes, this is incredibly stressful. Also, since it is impossible to get an appointment, I am forced to pay $30 for a medicine refill (plus a $10 fee at the pharmacy counter) or just go unmedicated if I don't have $40 lying around. I am on an SSRI which has severe withdrawal symptoms as well as the unmedicated bipolar depression which I must then manage on my own. As a suicide attempt survivor who needs medication, this is dangerous. I also get told countless times to never ever quit my medicine cold turkey, but with this place I've been forced to. Most of the time when I call in to make an appointment I am answered by very unenthusiastic and sometimes rude people. I've been hung up on twice. Most of the women have an attitude and just a very unpleasant disposition. I wish I was kidding, this place is terrible. Save $40 and go somewhere else! read more

I've never faced so much incompetence in my life. This place is the physical embodiment of disappointment and frustration. Trying to reschedule appointments is a nightmare. I tried to reschedule my latest appointment because of a family emergency, only to be hung up on, and then eventually told they didn't even have me scheduled for the appointment (I was told this by the same woman who made this appointment for me in the first place). I even got a phone call on Thursday from this office reminding me of my appointment! She talked to me like I was stupid. Aside from this, the doctor I saw was rude and inconsiderate. I sat in his office- not the waiting room but his actual office- for 2 HOURS before he finally showed up. No one told me he was running late and no one bothered to explain what was going on. When Dr. Klopper did decide to grace the office with his presence, I could hear him yelling at and belittling his nurse in the hallway. Do not waste your time with this place. You will not be respected, your appointments will be dropped because the staff is apparently ignorant of how their own system works, and the doctor doesn't care enough about his patients to bother showing up on time. read more

Absolutely and completely HORRIBLE. Not the slightest bit of care or concern for the patients. They messed up the insurance. Then the first scheduled appointment resulted in a 2 1/2 hour wait. The second scheduled appointment was the same. Despite having an appointment scheduled 2 weeks in advance we were told "the therapist is tied up." I can completely understand the poor reviews. I too have to wait -- one time I waited up to 4 hours, but Dr. Klopper is very good at what he does and I'm fine with waiting when my alternatives are to be un-treated or withdrawing from medication that gives me brain zaps. Besides, he's the only psychiatrist at his caliber (Yale/Emory) under my insurance who takes Saturday appointments. Dr. Klopper needs a better administrative and operations team behind him. I think because he's also associated with Ridgeview, he probably doesn't have time to oversee any of the operations stuff. If they got their administrative act together, got a better facility (the facility is straight out of the 70s), trained in more doctors like Dr. Klopper and continued to take Saturday appointments - wait or not, this would be perfect for those of us who are truly in need of these services. I saw Dr. Klopper many years ago and I, like others who have commented, agree completely that he is one of the most incompetent psychiatrists in the United States. Everything they said about him here is true. A court system realized that we needed a second opinion on his misdiagnosis of me being bipolar, and ordered another visit to their competent counselor of choice. The counselor evaluated me and gave me a psych eval that took all day, and interpreted the information based on DSM-5 criterion. I have had many over the last 25 years, and they have not ever changed-no diagnosis of a disorder. This was when Klopper was, in my opinion, even more noticed and disrespected. My advice is to stay away because yes, he loves diagnosing, regardless of a person's psychologically healthy state, and medicating (of course that follows a misdiagnosis when the psychiatrist is greedy and craving money). I agree with the other review that indicates that there are many competent psychiatrists in the Atlanta area-and that Jeff Klopper is not one of them. read more
