Any given night of the week the whole bar/restaurant has people spilled out onto the street with buckets of ice cold original by their side. But don't let the crowd discourage you if you've come for a bite. They can always find seating for you inside after a few minutes. Friday nights are my favorite because they have a guy walking around with huge tray of fresh pastel. They taste amazing. Especially after that second caipirinha.

I wish I could tell you everything I ate but I can't read Portuguese or can remember what everything was called. Service was amazing, our waiters were attentive and entertaining. So much that he actually had his own bottle of booze! From the first time he brought me to Astor, I was in love. It is a great bar with a lot of life and action, amazing drinks and food. What more could you ask for? I love drinking the "friendly caju", and I will eat bolinho de bacalhau and pastel all day long. It's just perfect bar food. It definitely gets BUSY here! Expect to wait, but once you get your seat, you can stay eating and drinking as long as your belly wants.

The interior décor is modern and very cool; the location is great. That said, the best reason to visit this place: the BEER! SPTH serves more than 40 different beers on tap, and most are so good it's very hard to pick a favorite handful :-) The service here is wonderful - there are several staffers who speak good English, and helped us figure out what was where. We were encouraged to try a broad range of beers, which gave us a decent sense of what to order. Each of us ended up choosing different beers, but we all went away satisified. Even though we didn't really eat that night, the food looked and smelled very good; next time we'll have to not only drink, but eat too :-)

Lovely place, nice ambience and good food and drinks…read more We went there just after the Brazil game got over and the staff was not happy because Brazil tied the game 1-1 with a weaker team. That did not affect the service though. The beer was fresh and the Caipirinha with a tangerine bar in it was excellent. The Coxinha, fries and the Shrimp plate were very good too.

I asked the proprietor, a young looking guy with a strong mustache, how many beers they had - 150! The employee mentioned above introduced me to Shipyard IPA - a beast of a bottle with 9.25% alc and 650ml - one of the best IPAs I've ever had AND it's American. I did spend some money while here with each of those shipyards costing over $20. I forgot to mention the tilapia appetizer I had. Decent but probably worth going somewhere else for food.

Located in the uber hip Vila Madalena, this corner bar is all wood and all awesome. It's super small, but that doesn't mean it's not good for groups. They have a few (maybe 3?) tables that can fit 4, a handful of stools at the bar and there's always the sidewalk hang, if you can get down with that. The cachaça menu is one of the best and the thing to do is order a few shots to try the different varieties. The beer menu is also great, so you can match a bottle with a few shots. Because that's the kind of person you are.

Went to Copas Terraço Bar as a part of the cocktail nights event on the occasion of World Gin Day,…read more2016. I did not know the place but then World Gin Day & Cocktail Nights along with a group of yelper friends, no thinking required, I was there. To get to the place by public transport after dark is kinda dicey as the streets are dark, I recommend that you Uber it or come with friends. The place is quite cool - lots of bean bags, sofas in a ample space upstairs. They do have space downstairs along with a barber shop but I did not get to explore this area. On a chilly day, it tends to get cold here so they place small blankets all around which is a great detail. The overall ambience is quite cool. As it was World Gin Day, I had a Gin & Tonic of the house - they used Bulldog Gin and with a tea infusion and a dash of Campari - quite an interesting mix. Once I had the drink, I saw that their bar menu was, strangely, quite limited. On reading other yelp reviews saying the same thing, I saw comments from the business that states that they over 30 options of G&T - I am yet to see this menu because the menu I saw had like a handful of options, so much so that I repeated the same drink. As for food options, I saw that there was a small kiosk of mercian food - nachos were at R$ 30 which I think were too expensive for what they served. The place has a cool vibe but the service is ordinary and cocktail menu is seriously limited. Also I was told that we had a reservation for our group but when we got there, they had hardly separated sufficient space for us. Maybe we got there a bit too early, maybe this place becomes more interesting later on, maybe they will find the menu with 30 G&T's - I don't really plan on returning to Copas.
