She gave us the front bed room on the ground floor as it would be handy for us to go back and forth to our car with our belongings. This was a huge help as we did need to go to the car a bit. The car was packed very hastily in gale force winds, so it was a bit of a mess getting what we needed for our stay. Back to the room, it was so cosy and warm. The radiator was turned up and we soaked up the heat. Per night it was 60 EUR for two of us. Breakfast was grand, it was presented very well. The view is just amazing from this Bed & Breakfast and with the quick changing weather, the view appeared different each time. The location is good too. Left was Clifden, but if you wanted to head north to any number of places you turned right and on your way on the main Westport road. A few negatives with the bathroom though: shower was dark and cramped, water pressure fluctuated and that made the shower head move around, a little eerily at first when you didn't know why it was moving. Also shower did not drain quickly. Cobwebs and dust spotted in there too. But overall it was a good stay and was just what we needed after the camping disaster. I'm glad we ended up at the Bay View Bed & Breakfast.

She followed up with us 24hr in advance, had a ride lined up with us (Noel Mahon [Runs Taxi and Van tour business on island - Best taxi tour service on island]). When we got there much of the island was closed down but a couple restaurants back by the ferry. She didn't hesitate to offer to drop us off because she knew we had to be hungry. She is truly a wonderful person and can provide some wonderful recommendations. Having known Penny for just 24hr, she felt like a distant relative and cared greatly for us - I'm confident she will do the same for you and recommend booking directly from her during your trip!

The bedroom with ensuite was clean and provided essentials for the evening. We were blown away by the morning breakfast which provided a variety of meal options and beverages. The quality of food and service is what one might expect from a high end hotel. Check-in and check-out is very easy. Parking is easy to locate on and off premises. No concerns regarding safety or parking violation.

There is a lot to do on the state, whether it's clay shooting, fishing, taking a little boat out on the lake for a small tour, going on a hawk walk or horse ride, and more. The food is incredible across the board from breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner (both more formal and pub-style). I've stayed in a few different rooms at this point, and they have all been elegantly and luxuriously appointed, with every detail already thought out. I cannot say enough about how amazing this castle hotel is! Loved it so much during previous stays that I even had my wedding there! Hope to stay again soon
