Epic shot! Took it at an angle as I was coming outta my car!

Atlantis Fantasy World is hands down in my "Top 3 comic shops you must visit in the Bay Area" list right alongside: Heroes (in Campbell) and Comics Conspiracy (Sunnyvale). This is a pure comic shop with a great selection of back issues, graphic novels, current comics and a ton of bargain and discounted comics sets, dollar comics and half off graphic novels. I just love walking each aisle making sure I don't miss a single issue I may not have in my collection. The staff is extremely kind and knowledgeable. The owner is awesome, he's got great stories of past celebrity signings in store and u gotta hear his experience when they filmed The Lost Boys at his shop. Definitely a must visit destination for your comic book needs!

Amazing selection of comics and nerdy collectibles! My SO and I were lucky to walk in on their spin the wheel sale weekend event :D love the variety here for anime (one piece, naruto) to marvel (Dr strange etc). The staff here are also very friendly and fun! Nice atmosphere and highly recommend!

Ok. Place. 3 stars because i walked in and was followed the whole tine i was there. But the girl tried doing it by pretending to be talking to a customer on the phone who just happened to show interest in something within a section i walked by as i happened to browse the store. I would have prefered the "hurry up and buy" approach much better.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! For fun (and also because of Shelter-in-Place shopping restrictions at the time) , I had a 50.00 gift certificate and emailed the store with things I like (and don't like) and asked them to put together a "surprise" bundle as I haven't shopped much for comics in the last few years. That day, they called me back with a few clarifications and had the bundle prepared that very day. They did a perfect job of selecting cool stuff (a vintage comic and graphic novels) for me and my tastes. I look forward to visiting in person and asking for suggestions from the staff.

    Lost boys Comic!!

This was a bucket list stop. Being a fan of The Lost Boys movie I knew this was the #1 stop while visiting Santa Cruz. And it didn't disappoint. I got to meet the owner who spent a good half an hour BSing with my wife and I. He even got the comic down and took a pic with us. AWESOME!!! I bought The Lost Boys comics #1 and #2 both signed by the artist, and the actor who played Michael. I also bought a new DC series #1 called Hero's in Crisis. I like when supers are killed off ...... If you are in the area stop by, it's awesome.

This dude is rude as hell.

You can spend the whole day looking around and exploring. It also has tons of fun stationary, or kitchen decor things, like the fun stuff for your home or office, not necessarily the stuff you need, but the stuff thats going to make you smile (so, the things you need). I also loved that there were two doors. I know that is silly, but I liked that you can park in the back, walk in, go shopping, then walk out the front and you're now in downtown. It is a bit overwhelming, but, super cute and I would recommend any age stopping by for something you'd like.

The staff is lukewarm-friendly, but overall I find them talking amongst each other behind the register like they're at a Sunday backyard BBQ, so if I have a question, I am disrupting their conversation. They'll help me out but they aren't too happy about it. That's how it feels anyway. I wish there was a self-price scanner and a way to find books more easily, so it takes out the need for customer service. All in all, the Santa Cruz Bookstore is a place you can easily spend an hour or longer to kill time or to meander after dinner. It's really fun, and is a perfect place for the loner types who don't like people talking to them... because usually staff won't approach you here on their own. (See? This can be a positive!)

I love everything about it. I was hesitant on coming in as I had my mind set on getting cookies a block away and he convinced me to stop in so we can look for Princess things for me and my bestie!! I was ALL in at that point. Upon entering in, I knew I didn't want to go. They had cute cards you can mail out which I'm so old school I love it. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to find the perfect Santa Cruz card!! I grabbed so many and started narrowing it down and down. I ended up not picking any of them and found a really small unique card I fell in love with which was perfect for the theme I was going for!! This place has so many hidden TREASURES. I was rummaging through everything from vintage games, books, puzzles, trinkets, unique items and the dude found a mermaid shell the actually hatches a mermaid. I knew that was the perfect item to pair with my cute card!! A unique find in Santa Cruz which was awesome. While I was in awe of the store the dude found a Coney cup *insert love emoji eyes* I literally squealed my princess skirt off!! There was no way I was walking out the store without it. I think the dude and I spent about an hour in the store until I realized we had to go pick up my hat that was being done. The line wasn't too long for check out and the owners informed us that they barely put the Coney Line Friends cup out two or three days ago!! Just my luck. I let them know they need BROWN BEAR - CONEY'S true love! So they were pleased that someone bought it. The owners were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Their store made me fall in love with Santa Cruz and make the trip very special! It was clean organized and such unique items you won't find! I highly recommend you come and check it out. Something for everyone!

It's a shame because there are so few good stores in this area. I went to all of them today and didn't find one that was a strong comic book store. If you like certain collectibles, you'll find a lot here, but if you're looking for comic books (which this store is listed) then you might be disappointed. SELECTION: Definitely packed full of product but I find that these types of stores in the end don't do well because product that doesn't sell sits on the shelves so long they gather dust. Not focused enough. And the comic wall isn't well stocked. SERVICE: Helpful in explaining why there isn't a lot in stock but too bad because this place has lots of potential. In a waning market this is the most well positioned store to do well. If they only did an ordering service, it would likely solve some of their problems. COST: Reasonable but not exceptional. Instead of going the collectibles route (I would definitely have collectibles but not the fad kind), I would go the comic book / gaming / sports card route. Card collectibles are of high value and take up so very little space. Funkos are great, but to give them shelf space they aren't worth it.

Owner definitely has an issue that needs to be resolved immediately. As for the contents of the store, it sadly left a lot to be desired. Comics were not sorted alphabetically on the shelves, older guy sitting behind the counter made it clear he did not want to be bothered, and some of the merchandise was WAY TOO expensive. I understand he has a shop in the Del Monte Shopping Center so renting the space can be pricey, but $30 for a "normal" Funko Pop that isn't a Chase, or special edition, is just plain ridiculous. Hot Topic on the other side of the shopping center had the exact same Funko Pop for $11.90 My partner found a cool Batman graphic novel, but by that point I felt like I was gonna be sick due to the mold smell, so I had to leave. I hope the owner can get their priorities straight, and take care of the store before someone does get sick.
