She took my directions and requests wonderfully and really didn't make me feel like that 'lame and dorky' newbie (which I really am :) ) what I wanted was in her style which is my number one suggestion: make sure your artist art suits you. Disappointing Experience - Faded Tattoo in Days My friend and I came in to get matching tattoos on the sides of our hands--an area we knew could be tricky, but we expected a bit more care and guidance. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. The artist offered little support or direction during the design process and didn't explain the level of fading we might expect clearly. We were asked to sign the hand waivers after the tattoo was completed. We were told it would fade over time, but within just 2-3 days, one tattoo had nearly vanished and the other was missing large chunks. When we brought this to the studio's attention, the manager cited their "hand tattoo policy" but ultimately refused to stand by their work. We were told we could pay again to get it touched up. Instead of offering a resolution or at least a courtesy touch-up, we were told we'd have to pay again to fix tattoos that didn't even last a week. I understand that hand tattoos can be tricky, but this was poorly handled. Lack of support, lack of follow-through, and a lack of accountability. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone--especially if you're hoping for both quality work and respectful customer service. After speaking and showing other artists the work, they agreed that it was poorly done and not deep Enough. Save your money and stay away!!!! read more

My son and I went there twice over about a 4 month period, spending close to five thousand dollars. First time I was very happy. Second time, the ink fell out faster than it went in. You can't even tell what the tattoo is supposed to be. So I called about getting some touch ups done. I was told no problem but here's the catch. Unfortunately I need to leave this review to stear people away from Zach. He seems like a good guy and is easy to talk to, but I'm crushed with the piece he left me with. I had a good experience with him with a previous tattoo, but this is my newest one that I got barely four months ago. I don't know what happened in the year between visits because this time he tore my arm up. By his own testimony that my friend had recorded (cause we were posting about getting our tattoos together), he said he was impressed by how I didn't move at all despite how much it sucked. The scar tissue around the cigarette hurt for two months after healing and is still obviously raised compared to the surrounding skin. It's also blowing out more and more by the day. If he wasn't comfortable doing linework I wish he would have told me and I could have booked somewhere else. I'm so disappointed to have this on my body forever. I sat 2 x 5 hour sessions, then a 4 hour session, after which I inquired how many more sessions approximately until finished. He said probably next session... I went back and again, after 4 hours still not finished. It seemed he continued reworking the same spots, over and over again. Another session, same thing. I went in one more time, my appointment was at 10:30AM. I sat in the waiting area for 2 hours before I finally told them I have a commitment at 4pmand if he can't see me now I'm going to reschedule. So he comes in and gets me, and we get going. He ends up spending the ENTIRE session working on areas that have already been done AGAIN! Leaving me wondering if this piece will ever get done, and on top of that I am pretty damn certain he was pissed off I threatened to leave, because he was using that needle pretty frikken heavily. That was it. I was done. It was really AWFUL. I paid a disgusting amount of money for an unfinished piece of garbage art on my arm from what was supposed to be one of Atticus's premiere artists (the ones with higher rates than the others). After discussing it with my fiancé I decided I'd research different artists to finish it. I found a new artist, who was absolutely AMAZING (he requested me to leave his name out of my review). He turned the piece on my upper arm into something stunning, that I love, and finished the remainder of my arm. I was really lucky to find someone who could pick up where atticus's trash artist left it. My new artist fixed & finished Atticus's shit work AND finished the ENTIRE sleeve from collarbone to wrist, for less money than it cost to get a shitty piece of garbage from Atticus "premium" artist. If you're planning a big piece, avoid this shop like the plague. They are absolutely fucking GARBAGE. read more

WARNING!!--DO NOT GET A TATTOO HERE! I Spent Close to $2000 on a neck/throat tattoo that was supposed to be a five hour session with an artist nicknamed "Paco". Me and this artist paco talked and finalized a specific and meaningful tattoo design...needless to say, this artist paco failed to follow through with my agreed design on MY SKIN...this was supposed to be one 5 hour session, it turned out into three horrific sessions with a of 11 hours of tattoo work on my neck. The first tattoo session was 6 hours & thirty minutes straight. The second session was the day after session one, this second session was two hours then the artist paco called it quits saying that my skin was "stressed" so without argument or hesitation, I had booked 3 weeks later in order to let my neck heal. Fast forward 5 weeks later, I came into the tattoo shop to finish the third and "Final session" with paco. This "Last" third session with paco took another three hours and forty minutes. This neck tattoo was originally supposed to be 5 hours long with this tattoo artist name "Paco". This horrible quality TATTOO was over 11 hours in three separate sessions. The last session I noticed lots of key issues with the tattoo regarding line work , colours that weren't supposed to be where they were. Colours are OUTSIDE THE LINEWORK & SHAKY....the eye is crooked and the holes in the bottom of the mask are misaligned/crooked. There are SO many issues and problematic areas with this tattoo that I noticed on day one after this third and "Final session". I mentioned to paco and Atticus staff that my experience with paco was unfortunately not good. I was not impressed with the poor quality and outcome of paco's work on my neck, with over 11 hours of work that was originally supposed to be 5 to begin with. so I agreed not to do anymore tattoo work from paco with Atticus. Atticus tattoo staff in their own words "AGREED" in person and email of the following..... " I am very sorry that you are unhappy and we are more than happy to touch it up for you at no cost. Please update us when your tattoo has completely healed (3-week mark) with a new photo." Fast forward a month later, i sent Atticus new updates pictures of the tattoo from the healing process (not much changed in the healing process trust me) Atticus said now I all of a sudden have to pay %50 for another 4 HOUR SESSION with a different artist in the same building as Atticus tattoo. ATTICUS AGREED at "no cost" a month prior to fixing and rectifying this horrible tattoo. NOW....all of a sudden they expect a full time student that isn't working to pay for another 4 hour session that Atticus said they would cover at no cost?.... The quality of pacos tattoo was horrible to say the least. Not to mention he didn't even follow or go by the DESGIN I AGREED ON. He completely went off on his own and did work on my neck that I DID NOT APPROVE!... pacos tattoo linework was very POOR and all of the colour was spotty and ALL OVER THE PLACE, COLOUR WAS OUTSIDE OF THE LINEWORK. I noticed these VERY problems and issues on day ONE of the "Final Session" Paco and Atticus tattoo have left me emotionally and physically scarred...they have done nothing but take my money and left me with a horrible tattoo which was nothing close or compared to the design I agreed on since it's my skin. Atticus staff has said one thing and done the opposite, they claim to please and leave customers happy yet they have done nothing to rectify my tattoo that I paid for and ultimately regret now. I have all my receipts, emails and conversations with Atticus tattoo on my phone and email. I have pictures and documentation of all of this. I had recently got a tattoo from one of the artists at Atticus tattoo here in Calgary. This isn't my first tattoo, it's my eighth, so I know how to take care of it to make sure it heals properly. I got it done on my neck and the next day the whole tattoo started to scab and the ink began lifting. A couple days later I had a shower and washed it lightly with non-scented soap. When I got out I looked at my neck and noticed that almost the entire tattoo washed off. Now, I know ink lifting is normal but not to the extent where there is only scratch marks left. People have also randomly come up to me and asked if I got a tattoo removal, it's very embarrassing. I am from Leduc which is a 2.5 hour drive away, And I contacted management asking for a refund as I pain $284, only for them to brush it off saying it's normal and that they would not be giving me a refund. I have never been somewhere with such TERRIBLE customer service. I got my tattoo back in December. Only went to Kaylie because she told me she would FINISH my tattoo in one session. The most being 2.5 hours. I budgeted for this as she is $170/hr. Anyways fast forward to receiving the drawing of my tattoo. I asked for the FLOWERS to be changed, that's all. Kaylie proceeded to ask me to change my appointment to account for this "big change" in which she got her apprentice to draw and send me. Anyways I continued with re-booking with Kaylie because she was very nice when I had my consultation with her. After my first appointment - nothing was really completed so Kaylie asked me to come back for another 2 hour appointment in which I had to put down another deposit. Which I did because who the hell is going to finish my unfinished tattoo if it's not Kaylie. So my 2.5 hour consultation turned into a 4.5 hour tattoo. I will insert pictures because it should of been completed in the one appointment. Very disappointing she really took her time to steal my money. Anyways... time came around and I had to cancel my appointment due to a family emergency and wasn't sure when I would be back in Calgary. I asked if I could receive my deposit back and book at a better time. The best they could do is keep it on my account because there policy is usually 6 months. What a joke. At this point I spoke with Michelle the manager over the phone with my concerns about the false consultation as well as the deposit and received no help from her what so ever. Just kind of it is what it is at this point and she continued to tell me it's because I changed my tattoo.. lol I changed the Flowers. She didn't offer me a discount, money back or anything to try and keep a customer. Because I already had a terrible experience I did not come back even when I came back to Calgary. I called the shop numerous times, and went to the shop once after my appointment and no staff knew when the manager would be in? Everyone had a different answer and no one had a fucking clue what was going on. Michelle was NEVER in. It's like she avoids the angry clients. I let it go. Decided to call again and I spoke with a guy named Taylor he told me to email my concern and what not. Which I told him the whole story and expressed how disappointed I am with this whole situation. Over the phone he said he will look at the email etc and do the best he can. I sent him an email may 19, gave him the benefit of the doubt to not respond right away because of the long weekend. I followed up Wednesday the 25th. Still no response what so ever. This place is fucking terrible. They just want your money. They don't give a shit what you walk out with. Please see attached for the chicken scratch I received for $420 uncompleted tattoo. PLUS a $150 deposit I won't receive back. $570 dollars for something my nephew could of done a better job on. As you can see - originally it was the roses, I then asked for the Peonies which the apprentice drew and she wasn't allowed to finish my tattoo for me... I asked so I could save some money from being falsely quoted. What a huge change. Oh my seriously the biggest joke of a company. This tattoo has been on my skin for 5 months and is that faded. I had a wonderful experience at this somewhat strange shop in Calgary... but the tattoo I got has been disappointing and problematic. it should be a red flag when the women that work at the shop have no tattoos. I got a rather large tattoo on my back which is hard to check out once the stencil is on so it's important to have a tattoo artist who you trust. the artists here mean well but I don't trust them. my back tattoo was suppose to be centered and symmetrical but it is off by more than an inch. the other tattoos artists trying to work on my back and neck after this tattoo were mind blown by how silly the placement of my tattoo was and wanted to know who I let tattoo me. such a bummer. can't recommend Megan. read more

This was my third time coming here 2nd tattoo. Worked with Dana a different artist than I had the first time. She was amazing to work with from consultation to end of the actaul tattoo appointment. She listened to all the little things had brought up idea wise and out together the most beautiful portrait of my dogs I could have imagined. I only one main dog with 2 paws to add later and she incorporated bits of each of them that are so apparent. I really appreciate the thought and time she put into it. Sadly Atticus tattoo used to be my #1 recommendation for tattoos in the city, however they will be the furthest from it going forward. I have been working on a sleeve for the past 2 years with an artist who sadly and unexpectedly passed away a few months ago. I've inquired about the legalities of receiving my $350 deposit back and have received nothing but bandaids for a solution. I've asked to see the written policy and procedures outlining that they are able to withhold my deposit even when no longer being able to finish the work is out of my control. All they could offer was another artist to finish the sleeve, however, none of the current artists match the style that was going into my sleeve so I kindly passed and asked for a solution to receive my money back instead and was again told there's no other solution. After asking 4 times to see the written policies and procedures about the deposits, I am STILL being ignored and refused to have the documentation sent over. Very sad that a (once) reputable tattoo shop cannot provide their customers with policies and ignore customers questions and concerns. I have gotten 95% of my tattoos from this shop and have spend endless hours (and money) here and continue to be treated as disposable. Don't recommend putting any money down for this shop or going to them for work. read more

The staff is very professional, a receptionist greats you when you arrive, and you get brought back into a private room, they have tvs where you can pick whatever you want to watch. Environment was very clean and up to health and safety standards. Went in for a few touch ups on some old blown out tattoos, they paired me with Murray. He was amazing listened to what I was looking for and used a colour basically identical to my skin tone to sharpen the lines. I would absolutely get another tattoo here. No complaints there. However, my piercing experience at Atticus would be best described as traumatic. I went during a 15% off day so it was clear the lady was overbooked and trying to get through the piercing as quick as possible. I felt rushed and wasn't given a lot of information (I have five other ear piercings so I didn't feel like I needed to know aftercare info, but she didn't tell me how to take the actual piercing out! I managed to unscrew one fairly easy but the second took a lot of prying which irritated my ear. My friend that got her piercing after me had to cut it off). Now, three months later, my two lobe piercings are still not healed. There was significant bruising after the piercing and the tissue is still swollen. I used all the proper aftercare and do not consider myself new to piercings whatsoever but they did not heal properly on the one part of the ear that heals the easiest. Hold tight cuz this is about to be a hell of a review...Why can I not rate this higher?! After recommendations to come here I finally did and I just had the most amazing experience at Atticus for my first tattoo! I have had my share of piercings, and I've been into a number of body mod shops. Atticus has a way different approach than your typical parlor, the first face I met was friendly and wonderful ( I'm sorry I didn't catch your name dear!) but so helpful. Joshua was my artist, he came out and greeted me just as I was filling out the forms which was fantastic because it's nice to put names and faces together instead of just being sent to a room where your artist meets you after. Now on to Josh, I cannot say enough good things about him! He walked me through everything, and was very calming and reassuring as I was a bundle of nerves. He asked " now I guess you've had tattoos before" as I walk in with holes through my face and other various body parts, and I inform him this is my first one which both of us were super stoked about. He made sure I was comfortable and settled and we started! I hardly had two words out of my mouth and he knew exactly what I was looking for placement wise and size wise, which is incredible! Since this was my first tattoo I was unsure of the sensation it was going to cause, because unlike piercings taking out a chunk of skin once, I was about to get stabbed a million times instead. Once I got the rhythm of it the sensation was actually almost soothing! We made the usual small talk as he was busy working his magic, and I perused some of his art work online (which is when I decided I will 100000000% be returning to him for many tattoos to come) We finished up and as I stared in awe at this amazing "xeroxed" script on my arm and he wrapped me up, and we covered all the aftercare info, and he ensured me that if I had any questions to make sure I give him a call. I settled up up front, grabbed some of this amazing tattoo balm, and a business card for josh on my way out! Sure the staff was nice overall but my artist (George) was moody and borderline rude. As someone who loves being tattooed he kind of sucked the fun out of it. I would ask him for his opinion and he would just tell me "it's your body so it's up to you". Which is true but as a client i was just hoping for his opinion. I went in wanting to be spontaneous and do something fun for myself. I wanted to see some of his work but he showed me none and assumed I wouldn't be interested (even though I had seen some of his work online and found it gorgeous). Even with his unpleasant attitude I went through with it and got a couple of tattoos, one of which PEELED OFF within a WEEK! I spent $165 dollars for my tattoo to more or less disappear. I went to a different artist to get it touched up and after seeing the work he put in i see why it did not last the first time.
