From the outside, it looks like nothing special, but what a pleasant surprise as soon as the affable owner opened the door. There are only 3 massive sized guest rooms, each decorated uniquely different and all stunning. There's a coffee bar with tea and a Nespresso machine (that alone won beaucoup brownie points with me)-and the location was perfect, walking distance to shops, restaurants and the waterfront. Not to mention the delicious breakfast and reasonable price. I'd come back to Bordeaux just to stay longer in this comfy retreat.

There did not really appear to be many appealing places to stay in town, but this place is great. The concept is sort of like a bed and breakfast but with more privacy than that. We had a nice room overlooking the patio with our own segmented space, though the weather was not conducive for it at that point. Our room was comfortable and featured a very soft mattress and well-renovated bathroom. Nadine and Sylvain prepared a continental breakfast for us each morning and spent time with us to give us hints on how to best enjoy the city. They also ensured that we had a cab waiting for us as well as a breakfast basket on our last day as we had an early train.

My reason for 1 star is that when I returned from dinner and drinks there was a family outside…read morebanging to be let in. Turns out the place locks the doors at night: beyond code but rather the bolts as well. The family finally found another place to stay and left theirtoiletries and clothes behind. My ID was in the room so I wandered up all night waiting until morning. Obviously poor management.

The reception desk is open during certain hours so be sure to check ahead of time of when you'll be arriving at their property. The staff will inform you of a key code that you'll need prior to entering the building, so be sure you have that as well, or you'll have a confusing time trying to contact them on their service line (unless of course, you have a working mobile with you). Once inside, if the staff is there to greet you, you can head up to one of their super limited rooms, and unwind. (As with many accommodations in certain parts of the country, it's rather common to not have an elevator, so be prepared to be able to carry your luggage up and down the stairs if needed). The rooms are pretty spacious, and each decorated with a theme. I had the "Picasso" themed room, with lots of bold reds and cubist decor adorning the room. It was furnished with a small tv, a hot water carafe, a tv, and I believe free wifi. In the morning, you can come downstairs to the lounge/lobby area where the staff will serve you breakfast (lovely croissants, sliced baguette, bread, jams, butter, fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice) whilst sitting and looking out to the quiet street waking up to the business hours. The b&b is really well located, and everything within the center is pretty well accessible from here on foot. There's tons of little shops and eateries around the area, so you'll be sure to have your pick of cuisine of whatever you might be craving. If you happen to be there over the weekend, be sure to ask about the Sunday Farmers Market by the river. AMAZING produce and foods alike, you can't miss out!! Hope we can come back to stay longer next time!

Les chambres sont toutes différentes et le petit déjeuner y est copieux à la française. Situé rue Bouffart, à quelques centaines de mètres du quartier piétonnier, il n'existe pas d'autres chambres d'hôtes en plein centre de bordeaux. L'acceuil y est très chaleureux dans cette ancienne galerie d'art.
