From my experience with the Logis system, any hotel-restaurant in the system deserves an extra star compared to the normal rating system in France. The Logis system demands excellence from their affiliates. Au Puits Enchante is no exception.
Set in a tiny village off the main road, it is nonetheless frequented by many travelers, especially Germans who seem use this as an overnight rest stop on their way to the French Riviera and Provence. And no wonder. The hotel is clean, quiet, and comfortable. There are only a couple places to eat in the village, but this restaurant is the reason to stay here. Make sure you reserve a table when you check into the hotel or you may not get one. You will pay double for the same in Paris, but the charm and the service here are incomparable. You will even pay much more in the larger towns of Burgundy and still not find better. The hotel and restaurant are a tremendous value and should be on every Burgundy itinerary.
True, in a couple hours you can walk the entire village, but that only helps to build the appetite and it has some very picturesque scenes. Show any interest in the villagers and you will be rewarded with their kindness and the pleasure of their company. No worries, your worst French language ability will be welcomed and encouraged. read more
