My husband had two kidney stones removed, all went well, it was a good experience if it hadn't been for the receptionist having an attitude for having to let us in early.We live 30 miles away and left early in case we had trouble finding the surgical center, especially in the dark. It said on the door they open at 6:30, but finally opened at 6:36 when a girl finally opened the door and you could tell she was not happy about it by her attitude and made sure to tell us that they only open for patients at 6:45. We weren't born knowing that but she acted like we should have known that, then she said did u bring masks? Nothing in paperwork about it, we've both had our vaccinations, husband wasn't too happy about it and said what good are the vaccinations if you still have to wear a mask? She proceeded to tell him he could go to the car in a hateful way, even though he wore the mask but voiced his frustration. Frustrations are high for many right now, lots of confusion, hasn't been a few months ago when they said people who are vaccinated don't need to wear masks, now they have changed it, yet once again, without any science behind it, but regardless we wore the masks, she kept having attitude and my husband finally asked her why she was being so difficult and when she said she wasn't, I spoke up and told her, oh yes you are, you're being very rude and bossy. The next thing I know a lady named Deidre, came out yelling at me about masks, I guess she thought the remark I made concerning her treatment and attitude toward my husband was about masks, which had nothing to do with it, her attitude from the time we got there was rude, she began to let me know I could have my surgery somewhere else, I said, I'm not having surgery, well you can stay in the car, I said yes I could, but as you can see I'm wearing my mask, so why would I need to leave? She proceeded to tell me that a lot of people don't get to be with their family members when they're having surgery in the past and I told her, yes I know, that's why we have the vaccine, again, I said nothing about masks, this was not about masks, it was about rudeness and disrespect. Undoubtedly you do what you're told and keep your mouth shut and it's fine, but they don't want you voicing any opinion without asking you to leave, even when you wear the mask!!! If you have problems being vaccinated and having to still wear a mask and voice your frustrated opinion about it, this place is not for you unless you want a lot of frustration added onto the medical problem your there for. Many will come through those doors frustrated, it's how they treat you regardless of how you feel that counts, it wasn't against the receptionist, it's being treated with kindness, caring and understanding that counts and we live in America, we're allowed to voice our opinion and shouldn't be told to leave if we have one, like I said, we did not refuse to wear the mask, I never said a word about the mask and she jumped all over me. The nurse that brought my husband out couldn't have been more sweet and she said she was sorry for what we experienced and I told her and thanked her for it. She, however, was not the one that owed us an apology. I told the Dr about it, he seemed to be understanding and said he didn't want his patients feeling that way. Needless to say, I sat out in the car until he came out. I wanted no part of that negative atmosphere, they need a new receptionist or she needs training on how to deal with frustrated people and hearing sometimes how they feel, it's not aimed at them, it's aimed at the situation. They will have many through covid, this won't be the last of the problem. Deidre should have stayed out of it since she didn't even know why I told the receptionist she was being rude and bossy, because she was and what I said to her had nothing to do with masks, it has to do with respect and understanding people going through a very difficult time and trying to understand it all the best way we can.
