Making our dining experience excellent if nothing else, the ambience is truly an excellent expression of a step back in time with all modern accoutrements. If you ever plan on visiting this small, quaint village in Provence L'Arôme is a stop on your bucket list for dinning at least several times to enjoy quality food, service and ambiance

We started with a bottle of local red from Chateau les Eydins and it was the perfect recommendation. So much so that we stopped at the Chateau on our way out of town for a magnum to bring home. Next up was the Tuna Tartare which was original and impressive. Then on to the main meal of Filet with Foie Gras for my husband and the beloved Lobster Risotto for myself. It was decadent, it was heavenly and I cannot wait to come back. Even for lunch, it was a bit pricey but who can put a price tag on such an outstanding meal. If you're in the Luberon region, spend some time wondeBonnieux and do not miss L'Arome.

We showed up at 1;40( with a normal closing of 2) but were shown into the restaurant! . Stephanie, the chef, came out to explain her menu in English. I cannot begin to praise this meal! App was burrata with a tomato sorbet with basil. Dinner, one of the best pieces of sea bass I have ever eaten, on a bed of braised fennel, my daughter had lamb cooked for 8hrs in a traditional French red wine sauce. My husband had a moist steak with eggplant and scalloped potato. All of us cleaned our plates and followed it with a homemade chocolate sorbet that was so decadent we shared it. This meal was off the charts! We will revisit it on our limited Provence trip!!! Do not question it, GO!!!!

We enjoyed the food at Restaurant Cesar but not the service. The wait between our appetizer and…read moremain dish was almost an hour, but having lived in France for two years we could live with it and would have given them four stars. It was the waiter's inappropriate behavior and the owner's total lack of apology that ruined the evening. My wife wasn't sure what "charolais" meant and asked me whether it was filet mignon. The waiter overheard her and started laughing to himself and commenting to other French guests. We were shocked and told the owner. The owner, without knowing what happened (he was quite far from us and could not have overheard), flatly denied that it could have happened and was completely unapologetic. My wife spoke French well and we had a French friend with us, and all of us were taken back by the owner's attitude. After we walked out, our children, who spoke fluent French, told us that the owner used a number of dirty French slangs when talking to us, e.g., engueler, as in "you cannot shout in my restaurant with your dog mouth." Though we were upset, we never shouted at the owner and would have never imagined that a proprietor would direct such words to his customers. If we didn't understand French, we would not have caught the waiter or the owner's rudeness. There are a number of nice restaurants in Bonnieux with equally good food but without the unpleasantness. We recommend Fournil and l'Arome.
