The rooms and amenities were clean and abundant. Very impressed that it is such an accommodating hostel. The staff is off the hook... super friendly, super helpful, and really just the best. I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone coming to the area. In fact I recommend it more than any hotel or airbnb!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And it's a short walk from the promenades and main nightlife areas, but just outside of it all. So it's generally quiet at night. Of course this also depends on who is staying at the hostel at the time, but that's a risk you always take at hostels. When we stayed it was quiet a couple nights, and then loud one night. But staff was good about kicking out the drunkies towards midnight. Usually we were out, but the one night we were staying it, it got a bit noisy. Everyone was always lively and hanging in the common areas. Drinking and talking story at night. Accommodations: the rooms were very nice. We had a 3 bed room and it had it's own bathroom which is always a nice luxury in a hostel. Towels were also included. Only problem with the bathroom was the shower was TINY. So small, I had to contort my body into all sorts of positions just trying to bend over to get my shampoo bottle. Nice to have our own shower, but could've been larger. Rooms were well decorated and painted and looked very nice. There was a TV and some storage cupboards with loops for a padlock if you brought your own. I'm sure they would rent them too if you needed one. Breakfast was included if you booked through hostelworld: cereal, pasteries, muffins, toast, butter, jam, coffee, milk, etc. Pretty standard affair for an included breakfast. It was roughly 2 euro if you didn't. They also had beach items anyone could use, including beach towels and pads for laying on the rocky Nice beaches. Towels are cleaned, you take from the clean pile, return to the dirty towels bin. It was nice to have these things instead of using my bath towel on a rocky beach. Overall, this was a good hostel and I'd recommend it to friends and most likely stay here again. +bath and beach towels included +well decorated and kept hostel +breakfast included when booking through hostelworld +staff was extremely friendly and helpful -private/smaller rooms have ridiculously small shower

My room had four beds-it was very clean and very safe place. The hostel has a nice bar and lounge area. There are washing machines and dryers, so you may wash your clothes. The hostel serves a French petite breakfast, 7:30 AM. Moreover, I liked the fact that the hostel was closer to the beach than the other hostels located in downtown Marseille. The beaches on the Southern end of Marseille are cleaner and have nice outdoor showers. Stayed here for a week and it was perfect. I don't like to optimize for hotels while traveling…read morebecause I tend to spend so little time in them, but this means that you can really be rolling the dice as far as lodging is concerned. I booked a single room here and was not disappointed. First and foremost, the location is absolutely impossible to beat. You're walking distance from both L1 and L2 trams as well as a TER train station. Additionally, you're right next to Avenue Jean Médecin, which is a must-see. The Avenue also offers a direct walking (or short tram) route down to Place Masséna and Vieux Nice. The room itself was both clean and quaint. Free WiFi is offered. Towels are changed and trash is emptied daily. The staff was nice and helpful. Free breakfast is offered in the morning in the form of coffee and cereal, which I feel is pretty standard for most hostels I've been to. The hostel itself has a great terrace in between buildings where people like to meet, drink, and socialize. There are cool restaurants nearby, as well as a great bakery and a grocery store. The hostel also has a kitchen with shareable dishes, which we took advantage of for our wine. That being said, keep your expectations low: it is a hostel, after all. It's around 100 euro per night, so as long as you're not expecting the Hyatt or the Ritz, you should not be disappointed. Would highly recommend and definitely plan on coming back! If you've ever read my reviews, you would know that I'm a crazed food whore with a drinking…read moreproblem. Because of that, I limit my reviews to restaurants and booze bars... HOWEVER, I recently went to Cannes and was amaaazed by this cute little villa-hotel and I feel it my unicorn duty to let the whole world know the magic of this place! When picturing Cannes, you imagine glamorous people chic-ishly cat-walking down the sparkling cote-d'azure runway-sidewalks wearing the latest garments newly created by the best fashinistas in the universe! Or you might picture an international gathering of film lovers discussing the latest indie film which they are SURE you've never heard of before. Amidst the fame stricken coast, you might imagine having to pay for accommodations with either your first born child or through precious gems yet to be discovered in the Himalayas. But wait.... How will you afford all the 30 EUR martinis while you're out dancing and trying to hook up with up and coming movie stars?? I wasn't able to justify paying for a hotel with golden bars, so I decided to free style my visit. Realistically there were three options: 1. Find someone rich to shag and sleep at their place 2. Get super wasted and "fall asleep" somewhere on the beach 3. Hope the travel gods favor me that day and find a random place to stay. Although #1 and #2 could have easily happened, while walking through the city that day, a ray of sunshine landed upon an establishment. I felt as if nothing else was visible and I was slowly being sucked in by this quaint and charming location. Where am I?? I thought.... And before I knew it, I realized I was in the Chanteclair. Oh the Chanteclair - I hope no one finds you so you can be all mine whenever I want to Cannes it up again. With your 15 well-kept rooms, each with their own style and design, I feel like I can be charmed by your sweet French je ne sais quoi 15 times. And what can be better after a night of absolute pleasure and comfort than a French breakfast with sun golden flaky croissants, warm welcoming baguettes and French press coffee sure to wake you up no matter WHAT kind of night you had. Suddenly I woke up from my dream and realized that a surely a place like this would charge me 1 liver and 6.8 fingers. But to my surprise, the rates were NOT going to drain my bank account! As soon as I realized I CANNES stay in this beautifully magical lodge in the middle of the city, I booked and never looked back. There is NO WAY I would stay anywhere else and the two guys that run this place are nothing short of completely hospitable and jolly unicorns!! I want to tell people not to stay here... but really... stay here!!!!

For three, the price came out to be around €19 per person, which isn't bad at all. Beds are comfortable, and there's heating as well. This place was absolutely terrible. For starters, I am writing this review here because the hostel…read moredidn't officially confirm our visit on Hostelworld making us not "verified visitors" - leaving us unable to leave a review on there (sketchy enough). This makes a lot of sense though because in no world does this hostel deserve a "8.0 fabulous" rating as seen in Hostelworld. Here is a list of reasons why our stay was terrible and why you should never book: - At check in they informed us that their card reader wasn't working, making us walk to a currency exchange to pull out more cash. This wouldn't be a big deal, however we found reviews from months ago mentioning the same thing, making it clear they have made no effort to fix this. If I had to guess, this has to do with them keeping transactions off the books so that they don't have to verify traveler's stays in Hostelworld, preventing them from leaving reviews. - The AC was not working. On Hostelworld it clearly states that there is AC and in our room there was a unit mounted to the wall, however there was no way to turn it on. The front desk said there should be a remote, which we didn't have and they gave us some excuse that they would need someone to come in and look at it the next day (which never happened). This made the room near uninhabitable for sleeping. - We requested an all male room and were put with 2 females. While this wasn't a huge deal for us, one of the girls in our room also told us that she requested an all female room and got put in our room. The safety risk/discomfort this could pose is clear. - There were NO curtains/sun blockers of any kind in our room. You'll be sure to be waking up with the sun during your stay! - The bed conditions. The mattresses (if you can even call them that) were thin and placed on a metal grate bed frame that you could feel every bit of when trying to sleep. There is also a high probability of bed bugs because my friends and I came out of our stay with pretty of new bites. - The housekeeping staff will barge into your room every day around 9am and start cleaning, even if you are in there still. While we are thankful to have a clean room, this could be done at a much more considerate time. If you've made it this far I hope that I have helped you to avoid choosing this hostel. Nearby air bnbs are 100x nicer and comparable in price. I'd honestly rather sleep on the streets than here again. It was a breath of fresh air to check out.
