It looks like a castle in the sky. It is an older hotel but is beautifully preserved. So much history there. The rooms can be a little small- specifically the bathrooms unless you upgrade. We booked a room on the Gold Floor and had a great room, very small bathroom. The cleaning service was inconsistent. We got mouthwash after 3 days but not to start. No slippers like typical Fairmonts. The Gold Floor lounge is nice. Definitely not our favorite gold level lounge but still nice. Limited healthy protein options at breakfast. Vincent was our absolute favorite. We made an attempt to sit in his section every morning. His bright spirit was the perfect way to start the day. The bar downstairs is beautiful. It has limited seating and lots of non-guests want to experience it. The cocktails are so good and service is great. We are headed back in the winter and are looking forward to seeing it during the holidays.

Our double queen room with kitchenette was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After long days exploring the city, we particularly appreciated the deep soaking tub, the rainfall shower, and what may have been some of the best water pressure we've experienced in a hotel anywhere. Small details matter, and this hotel gets them right. The location is fantastic--perfectly situated within Old Québec and within easy walking distance of the city's historic sites, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Despite being in the heart of everything, the hotel was remarkably peaceful and quiet. One of our favorite amenities was the guest lounge and its outstanding coffee machine, which quickly became part of our daily routine. We also opted for the breakfast package, and it was a delight. Each morning we awoke to a basket of fresh breakfast goodies hanging on our door: fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, and other treats. We never tired of it. As a fun local note, visitors should know that the beloved pain au chocolat is called a "chocolatine" here, just as it is in the south of France! What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. M. Pierrôt deserves special recognition. He was warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and always greeted us with a genuine smile. In truth, every member of the staff we encountered embodied the hotel's reputation for friendly, personalized service. We also appreciated staying in a property with such a rich history. He made our stay pleasant and fun from the moment we pulled up. He helped us park, helped us get acclimated to the hotel and the area, and seeing our stress level after our long drive, told us where to get a bottle of wine and showed us the patio. Aside from being completely charming, hilarious, and a total gentleman, he also made great recommendations for area restaurants and attractions, and taught us a bit of French and a whole lot of history. Mr. Dulac was completely unobtrusive during our stay, but made himself available whenever we needed him. Our room at the Auberge Aux deux Lions was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We also made use of the common kitchen area on the second floor which included a coffee maker, a small fridge, and an ironing board. We stored leftovers and bottles of wine in the fridge and used the wine glasses provided. Though the Inn was booked to capacity during our stay, we never saw or heard another guest. The Inn's location in Upper Quebec City is ideal! It is a close walk to Old Town and to fun shops and restaurants on Cartier Avenue and the surrounding streets. We spent a great deal of time walking around the City and we were happy we had a comfortable place to return to each night. We will definitely be returning to Quebec City soon and will give Jean-François a call when we do!

There were people immediately to take care of our luggage, and to wave us away when they said they would take care of the parking and any other logistics. Check-in was easy, and I was delighted to discover I had been given an upgraded room without making any request or having any particular status. The room was twice as large as most hotel rooms I've stayed at, with delightful views, a large and very comfortable bed, a couch and desk, and a style that was elegant without being stuffy. My fellow travelers had a room that was even more phenomenal because of the view it had over the water and the cruise ships that were coming and going. Hotel staff were always helpful with suggestions for places to go or neighborhoods where we'd find a selection of restaurants to eat at. In the evenings there is a small and comfortable area to order drinks and to listen to the guitarist or to simply sit and watch the fireplace. Although it is a high priced hotel, I would absolutely return. Its location is perfect. Walkable throughout the old town area and to the port. And its comfort and sense of quiet unpretentious luxury cannot be beat.

The only minor complaint we had was that we arrived late and the bar was closed. We were a little hungry so the front desk receptionist offered us some snacks from the mini bar. We should have realized these snacks would be mini bar pricing even though he handed them to us from the reception desk. $26 of chips and pretzels showed up on the bill! Our mistake. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again though. The bed was comfortable. The shower great too. And the service was very friendly.

The area was nice by the Frontenac, but all of the tourist trap restaurants and T-shirt and sweatshirt gift shops just ruined it for me. Decent walking if you are into hilly areas, pretty to see once but more of a one and done after a day. All of the videos I watched on this place and the area I feel deceived. It was not that interesting at all and not worth it in my opinion. I'm bummed out it was a waste of a lot of money and a lot of time getting there for a crappy hotel and a lot of bad food and average coffee at unfriendly coffee shops. By the way this hotel has no lobby coffee, no water or snacks whatsoever. Some nights are 500 even $600 a night here. As much as I hate Holiday Inn expresses they are far better than this hotel. This is just a basic no frills place and you can't even adjust the room thermostat. Apparently it's controlled by management so you have limited access if at all some evenings it was shut off completely. This should be illegal at this price range. Again you need your head examined if you pay this price here. I only did because I was deceived by overhyped reviews. A lot of hotels in area are same price but from the little I saw of them they appeared to have a more luxury vibe compared to this low end b&b type vibe here. Oh and by the way, they gave me parking passes for a lot across the street. I displayed all of them in my windshield and I was still given a ticket by a cop in this parking lot that was $92 found on my windshield. If I say I'll never be coming back it would be too soon.

The personnel and staff at the hotel were exceptional very helpful and kind. It's definitely a nice alternative to one of the larger more corporate hotels in the area and feels more personal, even though there are some quirks that need to be worked out. Amelie was helpful to update my reservation to a room with a balcony and it did not disappoint! The room itself had a nice living space with a kitchenette, the bathroom was clean and the bedroom was comfy and had a bureau/work desk. The balcony had a small table for me to enjoy watching the sunset and have a few beers. The building is old but it's got a nice charm to it. This place does not have elevators so plan on walking up and downstairs If you're on any of the upper floors. I also like the fact that this hotel is just a few steps away from shops, restaurants, and most nearby attractions. If you're in Quebec City I would definitely recommend this place to call home while you're in town. Also, thank you Amelie for arranging for a driver to pick me up at the airport. The owner and his wife were often on hand during our visit, especially at breakfast, and they really care about the quality of your stay. And their staff from the breakfast service to front desk to the room service were all incredibly friendly and efficient. Coming up the stairs from a meal out or a day of sightseeing ? Don't be surprised if someone leans over the reception counter and before you're up the steps they want to know how it went. Don't be surprised if the skies are threatening and when you're out on the sidewalk deciding which way to head, the desk clerk flies out the door offering you one of the hotel's umbrellas. Breakfasts -- magnifique ! Delicious, plentiful, beautifully presented, and made to order. Wonderful coffee from cappuccino to regular black and unlike most places in the province, they actually brew decaf on request (no Sanka packets). Touring ? You'll get wonderful advice on walking routes, the eco bus, sights to see, restaurants, Cirque du Soleil in the open, museums, and more. Things to consider: We had the least expensive room and the bathroom was "just right." If you're a big person, you might want to ask if other rooms have bigger washrooms. The glass shower was huge and wonderful with two types of shower heads - that's not a concern. There's no elevator and some rooms are up two flights of stairs. The nice areas for walking are only minutes away on foot but you'll be going up and down hill. You should be in good walking condition. Saint-Roch is described by some as an up and coming district and by others as a place with a vision that's not yet executed. We had no problem with it. Quebec is a living, changing, exciting city. There are superb tourist districts and there are living and working districts. At Le Vincent you get a good view of it all. To me that's a positive. I don't care for Disney's perfect, fake world. I like a vibrant city and all that goes with it. We loved Quebec and Le Vincent. Do consider it; it's great.

Everyone at Le Vincent we encountered during our stay was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Le Vincent is a boutique style hotel with only 10 rooms. The rooms are adequate in size and have cozy interiors adorned with brick walls. Do not expect any amenities you would typically find at other, similarly priced hotels i.e. no pool, no workout area, no business center, no elevators and small tv's with limited access to channels. Also, the wi-fi was very slow. Additionally, there were a few other issues we encountered at our stay here that merit mentioning. The musty, mildewy smell we encountered as we walked into our room (#10), we attributed to how old this building was and thought nothing more of it. It wasn't until after the 2nd evening that my significant other and I had to stop by the local pharmacy and pick up some allergy medication to combat the symptoms from that room. To boot, the comforter had a stain, the shower as chic as it looked was full of mold / mildew in 2 of the corners and the room could have been cleaner. We couldn't take another evening in room #10 and were ready to find another hotel until we discussed the situation with Anthony, the hotel manager. He was very understanding and accommodating and was able to change our room to room #6. Although #6 had a smaller bed, it was definitely cleaner (shower had been re-caulked) and the room had little to no smell of dampness. It also had a nice view. HOWEVER, only the cold water worked in the shower in this new room and when the outside temperature is in the low 50's, a cold shower is not going to be met with much enthusiasm. I immediately called the front desk and both gentlemen came up with a screwdriver and pocket knife to rectify the situation. We left for dinner and upon our return, approx. around 11ish, I realized the water from the shower was no longer cold but exceptionally hot, scalding hot!! At this point, I'm beyond aggravated and couldn't call anyone as the front desk closes at 10PM. I love hot showers but this was ridiculous and quite frankly dangerous. I took a horse bath using the sink (which worked normally) and had to settle with the current state of affairs. The following morning on our way out, we spoke with the assistant manager Diego and he assured me he would try to fix it. Well, after a long day sightseeing, we arrived back to the room early afternoon only to find the shower was back to dispensing cold water!! At this point I went downstairs and contacted the manager directly. He offered a couple of concessions that were acceptable. The rooms here are quaint and cozy with brick walls and the staff as I stated earlier, out of this world. It is the staff's eagerness to please that has allowed me to rate this establishment 3 out of 5 stars. I truly hope they get ahead of these nagging issues as they can very easily be remedied and help prevent what could otherwise be a very pleasant experience into an uncomfortable and sour one.
