Great hotel for those who want to explore Quebec city with convenience. The hotel is located steps away from the fortress and other tourist attractions, so you will have easy access to all of them by foot. on top of that, you will never have to worry about food - there is an abundance of amazing restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and coffee shops steps away. Everything inside looked nice and clean, rooms were decent size, the staff was friendly and you even get a free drink coupon at their bar upon check-in. One thing to keep in mind since this is a centrally located hotel - it can be a bit noisy in the evenings with all the traffic, especially during the weekends. It didn't bother me, but if you are a light sleeper, you might prefer a different location. Overall, it's a great value for the money and I would definitely stay here again.

We were in town during a peak tourist week with fall foliage and the Quebec marathon colliding, so rooms anywhere near old town were sold out and going for premium prices, so at over $650 CAN per night, this hotel was no bargain. We are Marriott Gold Elite and have lots of Marriott experience. Our room location on a high floor corner facing old town citadel gate was excellent. The room and furnishing were sparse with an open rack instead of a closet, one chair, open shelves instead of drawers at bedside tables. Three stars for value and furnishings, but I'd give five stars for the staff, from housekeeping to valet and bell service to front desk, everyone was excellent. When Awa learned we were not happy with our room, she offered us a suite on a lower floor and for the next couple of days, she couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. She gets 5 stars plus. Also notable were the front desk staff and the bellman with the mustache. I apologize to him for my brain freeze remembering his name. What a gentleman! If someone at the property can help me, he also deserves a compliment. Another personal 5 stars for him.

The only good thing about this Marriott property is the location. It is situated near Old Quebec and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The property itself is incredibly unremarkable. Rooms were old and worn out. We had a crappy view right into a tall office building where we could watch people slave away at their menial work and they could watch us complain about the overly noisy air conditioning unit in our room. We chose this hotel because we stay at a lot of Marriott properties and we used points for our stay. There are a multitude of better hotels in this immediate area. I would recommend choosing one of them.

PRo-tip: Ask for a room with a view of the old town and a high floor. Location: 5* Service: 5* Prices: 4* Food: 4* Stayed here for the first time in late May. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. There was some confusion about our reservations, but the staff addressed them and compensated us with drink tickets. As a titanium elite, I enjoyed daily breakfast, daily drink at the bar, and ability to get two things per day from their store (think small snacks). Also, as they don't have a lounge, they offered us to get free bottled water daily from the store. The location was great with easy (albeit hilly) walking distance to the old town, Chateau Frontenac, and the lower town. The front desk and concierge staff were great. Very willing to help make reservations, call for us to secure places, and also make recommendations for what to do and see. I would highly recommend you rent a car and visit Sainte Anne de Beaupre, Montmercy Falls, and I'le d'Orleans (wine country). Great short day trip from Quebec City and this hotel.

My husband and I stayed here on our most recent trip to Quebec City and we loved it. We paid with taxes and fees about$165 a night (booking directly with the hotel). This did not include breakfast nor parking, but did include WiFi. The hotel is very clean and the room was spacious. The staff are really nice. There's a fitness centre with treadmills, ellipticals, a stationary bike, some exercise balls, and some free weights. It's new and clean and each time we went, we were the only people there, lol. Toiletries are from "Thann" (I seem to recall the brand being called "Harnn and Thann" so not sure what happened to Harnn, lol). The hair dryer is better quality than at most hotels I've stayed at. It's ceramic and ionic and had 3 settings and a cool air button. No diffuser attachment, but I don't use one so no big deal for me. There's a coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea, but the bottles of waters are not complimentary. If you drink them you get charged $3.75 (there's a tag telling you such). The hotel is very conveniently located in the touristy part of town. We didn't have a car and felt no need for one, we were able to walk everywhere (the city is really hilly, so we got a good leg workout, haha). This Marriott is a really nice hotel, we would stay here again.

Gord and I spent two nights while we were in Quebec City this week at the Marriott Courtyard. I had booked it through Porter Escapes along with our flights (we flew via Porter Airlines). There were two small elevators servicing the floors (maybe eight floors?) ... each was in a different spot in the hotel. Surprisingly there wasn't much of a wait for the one we used. Our room it was cute. The floor had a bit of a slant downwards in front of the TV and desk towards the wall. The bathroom was huge! WIFI was free in the lobby area ... it's $12.95/night for up to five devices in the room. The speed was good. All the staff we talked with were friendly. This hotel is located in a great spot... just outside the walls of Old Quebec City so close to tons of restaurants, tourist attractions, etc. I'd stay there again if I go to Quebec City again.

The Chateau is an architectural gem. It is well worth your time to walk around the perimeter of this gorgeous building -- you won't be bored. The tour guide explained that the Chateau is a 5 Star hotel and everything must be perfect. Once inside, I saw chandeliers and window ledges caked with white dust. The "grand ballroom" reminded me of my high school all purpose room. We were warned not to touch anything because the grand ballroom was being prepared for an Easter Brunch. Two of the tablecloths covering the round guest tables had strange, yellow spots on them. If I return to Quebec in the future, I will stay at the Hilton which has a fabulous buffet breakfast that is reasonably priced and an equally fabulous view looking down on the Chateau and the old city.

Check-in was easy, and I was delighted to discover I had been given an upgraded room without making any request or having any particular status. The room was twice as large as most hotel rooms I've stayed at, with delightful views, a large and very comfortable bed, a couch and desk, and a style that was elegant without being stuffy. My fellow travelers had a room that was even more phenomenal because of the view it had over the water and the cruise ships that were coming and going. Hotel staff were always helpful with suggestions for places to go or neighborhoods where we'd find a selection of restaurants to eat at. In the evenings there is a small and comfortable area to order drinks and to listen to the guitarist or to simply sit and watch the fireplace. Although it is a high priced hotel, I would absolutely return. Its location is perfect. Walkable throughout the old town area and to the port. And its comfort and sense of quiet unpretentious luxury cannot be beat.

The only minor complaint we had was that we arrived late and the bar was closed. We were a little hungry so the front desk receptionist offered us some snacks from the mini bar. We should have realized these snacks would be mini bar pricing even though he handed them to us from the reception desk. $26 of chips and pretzels showed up on the bill! Our mistake. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again though. The bed was comfortable. The shower great too. And the service was very friendly.

Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Old Québec…read more L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec was our home for a six-day holiday in Québec City, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our double queen room with kitchenette was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After long days exploring the city, we particularly appreciated the deep soaking tub, the rainfall shower, and what may have been some of the best water pressure we've experienced in a hotel anywhere. Small details matter, and this hotel gets them right. The location is fantastic--perfectly situated within Old Québec and within easy walking distance of the city's historic sites, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Despite being in the heart of everything, the hotel was remarkably peaceful and quiet. One of our favorite amenities was the guest lounge and its outstanding coffee machine, which quickly became part of our daily routine. We also opted for the breakfast package, and it was a delight. Each morning we awoke to a basket of fresh breakfast goodies hanging on our door: fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, and other treats. We never tired of it. As a fun local note, visitors should know that the beloved pain au chocolat is called a "chocolatine" here, just as it is in the south of France! What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. M. Pierrôt deserves special recognition. He was warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and always greeted us with a genuine smile. In truth, every member of the staff we encountered embodied the hotel's reputation for friendly, personalized service. We also appreciated staying in a property with such a rich history. Built on land once known as the "Garden of the Poor," where medicinal plants were cultivated by the Augustines of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, the site has witnessed centuries of Québec City's evolution. Today, the hotel beautifully blends that historic character with modern comfort and thoughtful amenities. It is easy to understand why L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec has earned such an outstanding reputation among travelers. For us, it was the perfect base from which to explore one of North America's most beautiful and historic cities. We would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it enthusiastically to anyone visiting Québec City. A sincere thank you to M. Pierrôt and the entire team for making our holiday so memorable. We hope to return again soon.

This is a 125 hotel all day long except for its 15 minutes walking distance to the Frontenac Hotel which is about the same price right now. Don't get me wrong everything is insanely overpriced around here. This is Manhattan pricing. I think the whole thing is completely not worth it. The Frontenac is beautiful on the outside, but there's nothing really going on the inside and it's just surrounded by overpriced, mostly lousy, tourist trap restaurants. I would spend a day here that's it there's not much else to do if you are active. Overall, I'm very disappointed at the hotel and the area in my opinion was a complete rip off. The area was nice by the Frontenac, but all of the tourist trap restaurants and T-shirt and sweatshirt gift shops just ruined it for me. Decent walking if you are into hilly areas, pretty to see once but more of a one and done after a day. All of the videos I watched on this place and the area I feel deceived. It was not that interesting at all and not worth it in my opinion. I'm bummed out it was a waste of a lot of money and a lot of time getting there for a crappy hotel and a lot of bad food and average coffee at unfriendly coffee shops. By the way this hotel has no lobby coffee, no water or snacks whatsoever. Some nights are 500 even $600 a night here. As much as I hate Holiday Inn expresses they are far better than this hotel. This is just a basic no frills place and you can't even adjust the room thermostat. Apparently it's controlled by management so you have limited access if at all some evenings it was shut off completely. This should be illegal at this price range. Again you need your head examined if you pay this price here. I only did because I was deceived by overhyped reviews. A lot of hotels in area are same price but from the little I saw of them they appeared to have a more luxury vibe compared to this low end b&b type vibe here. Oh and by the way, they gave me parking passes for a lot across the street. I displayed all of them in my windshield and I was still given a ticket by a cop in this parking lot that was $92 found on my windshield. If I say I'll never be coming back it would be too soon.
