While the school has a great reputation academically, the Financial Aid and Student Accounts…read moreoffices are a major disappointment. Communication is poor and getting assistance feels nearly impossible. Their jobs are suitable for automation rather than human support.

Nancy Piper. Kenneth Collins…read more Lynn Stallings. All three of them ruined my AUM experience. Where do I begin? I start in August 2020. Got a scholarship, I did later lose it due to GPA (I'll discuss later). So I decided to go there online during Covid. I wanted to stay online. I had GI and chapter 35. College was taken care of. No student debt. Was good on debt until my last semester. Not only did I change my major to stay online so I WOULD NOT have to take out loans to live on campus, or go broke living in a crime ridden city. I also worked full time to pay for my life. So I stayed online. I changed from communications to Interdisciplinary Studies. My first advisor Ms. Lejeune was amazing (communications). My brother blew his brains out September 11, 2021. I tried to go to school but was depressed and struggling financially due to it. Also the mental load it put on me seeing my brother bleeding from his head. So I withdrew with the help of Ms. Lejeune. Easy with her. I asked and made sure I wouldn't owe or go broke. Any money usually came out of my monthly stipend check anyway. However, Ken Collins is a sorry piece of shit. His own co-workers say he is a dick. Even just starting at AUM he messed up my enrollment hours multiple times, misinformed me of my benefits, argued, and was rude. Even when my father called (who I haven't benefits through and served for our country), Ken had an attitude towards my father. Whenever I'd email about my issues Ken would be rude. I'd find out weeks or months later Ken sent my verification in wrong or late. Not only that but he explained my benefits with misinformation and confused me to the point it cost me in the end. The advisors are inadequate as they come. Having four-five different advisors just for my major/online. None of them having a single straight answer or know what to do, having to email here, call here to get help...which was never help. Having to explain over and over. Withdrawals from my brother and health/surgery became an issue. As somebody who didn't want student loans and took every precaution to prevent it, I somehow still ended up with over 3,000 dollars in debt! How? Auburn at Montgomery lacks adequate help and their staff is riddled with miserable adults who rather manipulate, nor truly help. I withdrew when I did, with the correct doctors notes, signatures as explained by inadequate people, and wasn't supposed to have issues that resulted in student loans. Maybe my stipend being deducted. I had a surgery and provided medical notes and everything, I did it before deadline, VA still says there was a discrepancy. Which caused debt there. On top of that several times Ken Collins incorrectly adjusted my student hours and sent it into the VA. On top of that, IT WAS ALL EXPLAINED WRONG. My GI and chapter 35 was explained WRONG by the school and KEN COLLINS. When I'd call to speak to him, nothing but attitude, cutting me off, and not listening to what I was asking, nor saying. How I purchased the books and applied my chapter 35 was wrong. Nancy Piper my last semester, which resulted in me having student loans, even stated she should've been emailed or came to with those issues and questions. Which Ken nor any advisor said. Most of them told me their way or reasoning. Nancy Piper also did not explain the student loan process or did she help in the issue that I had that resulted in the student loans. Not only that, but since I never had to take out a loan any other semester. Even when I went to a community college after I didn't have any loans. It wasn't explained what I was paying for. Online courses should be cheaper and it shouldn't have been over 3,000 dollars. Not once have I ever stepped foot onto AUM. Not even for a meeting or to visit. Yet, it wasn't explained I'd be paying for athletics, activities, food etc within my itemized statement for the loans. So you're telling me I'm paying for shit I don't use, participate in for other students? You're telling me that's what my Gi and chapter 35 paid for as well? She never explained anything about the student loan over the phone to me or on email or explained each cost and why. I guess low-life people rather have naive students go in debt so the college gets money. Any decent person would've explained "Lindsey this is what the cost will be, this is why and this is everything you're paying for. I will look into the misinformation presented to you that caused this or made you upset, and make this decision." Then on top of that, I can't access my email anymore, but wish you guys could see email after email. Over the years with issues on issues. Also, when I escalated this and once I did the semester under false ideas, having done the loan not realizing what it was fully and what I signed, and what the itemized loan statement would be. I tried contacting the dean and over the years the VA office for help and it would take a month to hear anything back.
