I called the billing department numerous times and finally got a call back several months later. After I explained what happened they promised to get back to me about the charge. Unfortunately I got a call from a collection agency yesterday. Unbelievable! I reluctantly paid it because I wanted to preserve my good credit. What a disappointment. I will not be returning to Center for Sight.

Stopped here out of curiosity and convenience and was immediately impressed with Dr. George Hurwitz's professionalism and concern for my sight conditions. Updated prescription and quick turnaround with new lenses with no pressure to update my somewhat expensive frames that had already served me well for a few years. A couple years later Dr. Hurwitz referred to their LASIK surgeon in Sarasota to correct an ongoing problem which has also been beneficial.

I was seen in the Emergency room, after admittance, I was taken to xray and then given a narcotic…read more I was not checked on for over 3 hours after that, and I got a notification that I had a prescription from them filled and ready at the pharmacy before the physician came in and spoke to me to ensure I could take it. When confronted, the physician yelled and berated the patient, proceeded to claim an emergency room with no patients besides myself in beds as being "too busy" to stabilize my knee. She further claimed that she was unable to treat my pain due to the medications I had told her I took and that she knew the narcotic was not going to be efficacious, therefore giving me an unnecessary medication that she knew would not help and then insisted that I was "fine" and that nurses were in and out of my room the whole time. When my father, who had been there the entire time confirmed no one had come in the room for hours, the doctor went ballistic. My request for a wrap was refused until I said I was filing a medical board complaint. I ended up telling them that I did not trust them to competently treat me and I left. Despite this, the physician, Melanie Melendez-garcia, did not recall the prescription, therefore giving someone who left and explicitly told them he did NOT want them treating him, a powerful steroid.

They call you back a couple of days later with a date and time for your vaccination. You show up, no waiting. They check you in, and give you the vaccination along with your return appointment after 28 days. They then have you wait fifteen minutes to be sure there's no reaction to the vaccine and Voila! your on your way home! Easy, smooth, efficient, and on top of it , a wonderful professional group of people at DeSoto Memorial Hospital.

Sat in the lobby for almost an hour past my appointment time while they helped at least a half dozen people who had walked in after me. At about 10:15 AM, I got an email telling me my appointment was cancelled and that I'd need to reschedule, WHILE I SAT IN THE WAITING ROOM. I am going to skip the details, other than to say I never saw my PA, she was AWOL from the practice, one person telling me she was scheduled off, the other telling me she didn't work there and never had. Dr. was not available - out of the office until October. Office manager was not available - hadn't come to work yet, at 10AM. If there was a way to give negative stars, I'd be doing that right now. Already found a new practice to see, they're finding time to fit me in Monday.
