The couple running the place have been there for over 40 years. Some of the stock has probably been there for nearly as long. There's a veneer of neglect about the place in the best way possible. It's (dis)organized into piles and boxes on top of their older inventory, and they can direct you to the newer piles, or to older piles where you might find some stray cache of a particular genre. Or just start digging. Some of the inventory is pretty overpriced - especially the Beatles and Stones and other classics. But a lot isn't - at all. They have an eclectic selection of newer releases, reggae, psychedelica, local music, electronica, and who knows what else. Prices on this lesser known stuff are often more than fair. The atmosphere is laid back - it's like hanging out in your grandparents' basement. Some of the people who come in have been coming in a LONG time. An older fellow came in looking to haggle for a record and was told off for an insulting offer, responding with a "I've been coming to this store since the day it opened." This is a true neighborhood record store and something you just won't find anywhere else in this era of discogs and ebay pricing. Just go and support these people. They really appreciate it.

I sold/sent Zumu a bunch of DVDs back in April of 2013. They received the items and everything…read moreseemed okay. After about a month and no check for the items or date given when to expect payment, I inquired with their customer service when I'd be paid since payment was overdue according to their site/advertisments. They responded in 3 months (late July 2013)! This was 2 months worse than they advertise and at no point did anyone inform me, I had to find this out myself. Well that date in July came and went and no check came. I again received no notification that payment would be late, I had to find out myself. They told me the date would now be early August. Well guess what? That date passed, and again no check and no notification. I then asked that my items be returned to me as it had now been over three months and clearly I wasn't getting paid. Here's is there exact reply cut and paste from and email: "Unfortunately per our Terms of Use any items submitted to Zumu can not be sent back as it is likely that most if not all have been recycled or re homed. Based upon our current time frame your payment has been sent to be processed, and is assigned to our payment cycle being issued by Friday 9/20/13, without any further delays." Okay... "withoutfurther delays". I guess I can accept that. Even though they pushed it out another month and a half. Well guess what happened next? Still no pyament. Still no heads up that payment wasn't sent. I emailed them again. NO response. So now they aren't just not paying for the items I sent that they agreed to pay for, but they aren't even responding to my inquiries via customer service. This is CLEARLY a scam. I bet if they did pay I wouldn't even get the full amount they said they would pay.

On June 3rd, I e-mailed the company asking about my payment. On June 3rd, I received an e-mail back from Devon saying the company is backed up and that my payment would be issued to me by 6/28/2013. On July 19th, I received an e-mail saying my payment is being processed. However, a month later, I still had not received anything. On August 16th, I sent another e-mail asking about my money. On the same day, Devon e-mailed me back saying there is a problem with PayPal payments and if I am willing to be mailed a check. I responded yes and sent my address. On August 17th, I received a confirmation e-mail from Devon stating that my payment will be issued to me by Friday August 30th. It is now September 19th and I have NOT received anything. This is by far the absolute WORST service I have ever received. Sending me a check is not that difficult.

New and limited releases, vintage albums, etc. are all priced fair, according to their market value on Discogs and their present condition. It's nice going into a store knowing you're not being overcharged. Jim, the owner, will bend over backwards to help you find what you're looking for, even if he has to special order it for you. He'll even give you a fair price for any vinyl you're looking to sell, which is a heck of a lot better than trying to sell them at a garage sale or the like. If you're in the market for vinyl, this is where to go.
