Synopsis - Amazing staff made this an amazing experience. I went in with some skin concerns that I had been reluctant to get taken care of. Finally broke down and set up an appointment online, got the vast majority of my paperwork and questionnaires out of the way online, and booked it. To be able to get all of those things out of the way ahead of heading to the appointment was so nice. The staff at the center were all amazing. From the wonderful receptionists, to Dari (sorry if I spelt it wrong) who was my assistant and Suzanne Craven who took care of my skin issues--it was amazing. They were thoughtful, listened, provided their expertise and advice, and cared. I truly cannot say enough good things about this whole experience for me. I've been going to see Audrey Echt and her team for 20 years. Her care and knowledge of skin issues is up to date. Being fair skinned and having spent most of my teen lifeguarding, teaching swimming and worshipping the sun coated in baby oil I've have had a number of skin issues. The Dr. Echt, and her team work hard to make sure you are receiving the best care and you know exactly what issues you have, how it will be treated and what can be done to help prevent any more issues. Seeing Dr. Echt knowing I will get excellent care is why I drive from Apex, NC to have her care for my skin. read more

This is the second time I've been to this dermatology office. The front office staff was very sweet and understood I wanted to be seen regarding a bump that had popped up next to my eye. It's a milia spot that I've been monitoring for a month. After explaining this to the DR and asking for a way to remove it or treat it his answer was the just monitor the spot. It's on my face, easily visible and I want it taken care of and my request was answered with "just watch it" or I could be referred to an eyelid surgeon for surgery. It doesn't need surgery in order to remove it That's the last time I go there. read more

Cancelling all further appointments due to constant billing issues. Was told once I didn't owe $500 + dollars just be billed again and told they could see in their notes where that had been said but the person was wrong. Kept being sent another bill I had already paid, they had no record, I sent in record just for it to not be applied to that appointment but one I haven't been billed for yet. When I called today to explain again I had paid, the man told me "I don't know how to explain this to you any differently" when all I was asking for was the actual bill of a visit instead of a text message with no details. He told me (with an attitude) "I'm printing it right now so you can see what I tell you" and ended up hanging up on me. It's too much of a hassle. Bills come months after appointments, nobody knows what's going on. It's just a mess. read more

Just received a 'Certified, return receipt requested' letter from Audry and Holly (a PA) - wanting me to sign a document releasing them from responsibility if I did not get an Actinic Keratosis (pre-cancer) treated. _________________________________________________________________________ I responded in part: Thank you so much for your concern - I find it strange that you sent me this with regards to Actinic Keratosos but not the active cancer on my nose. I left little doubt in my last message that I would not be returning to your practice for any reason. So let me clarify: Your office gave me two choices of treatment 1). Topical Chemo and 2). Radiation therapy. Both are quite expensive and the side effects outlast the treatment by weeks and months. Neither was the optimal choice - that would have been MOHS surgery. As we all know, MOHS is one and done. Since your office advertises MOHS, the very fact that you did not offer it as a first choice is suspect. I hope I am wrong, but it seems a greater monetary reward to suggest a 900 dollar tube of cream or 24 THOUSAND DOLLARS of radiation. Either way this reeks of malpractice! My first appointment with Audrey was not good . she can into the room introduce herself and stood to the side of my left chair never stood in front of me and I had a mask on she didn't. I had to turn to my left towards the back of the chair to talk to her don't know why she stood to the back side of me. Her assessment was fast said the spot on my face was not cancerous. Said she was using Cryotherapy to freeze it and it will peel off within a week or two. She said it was not covered by insurance and would cost $90 I said ok so she froze it. she was the coldest doctor I ever seen before. upon leaving they wanted you to pay it in full. Upon arrival the office was so hot I had to ask for some air. they turned on a floor cooler. I didn't like the visit at all. I had filled out everything on line prior yet had to do it all again on a pad . Hot Waiting room. unfriendly doctor. I wouldn't be going back. Disappointed read more

Called for a yearly screening and was told even though I have not been there for many years that they book one year out, so unless I have an emergency I'll need to wait a year from now. Hello, this is just plain ridiculous. And when I asked if I could have an appointment sooner, the receptionist said, What would you like me to do, cancel some other patients appointment? At this practice, you are not seen as a patient but rather as a billing opportunity. My husband, son and I have been patients here for years. Since this practices "affiliation" with Arundel Dermatology is has been a nightmare. They actually charged us a "new patient" fee because my husband had not been there in 2 years. He then had a mole surgically removed and had an adverse reaction (infection) when the sutures were removed. They proceeded to charge him for 4 yes 4 follow up visits that were brought on the their incompetence. Unbelievable !! We will be going to Blue Ridge Dermatology going forward . read more

I've been going to Dr Echt's office ever since she performed a MOHS surgery on my elderly mother many years ago. My mother received the most patient and professional service from Dr Echt and her support staff. I see Dr Ghassemian for my annual skin check up. He is thorough, takes meticulous measurements of any spots and compares them for changes. I have had one that needed extra attention and it was handled quickly and painlessly. I never have to wait to be seen either. I was escorted back within 4 minutes of my appt. today. The support staff are also great. I can't stress how important it is for everyone to have yearly skin exams and you cannot go wrong with the good folks at Dr Echt's practice. read more

Poor Quality of Care. I am doubtful that some of the surgical procedures were necessary. They did a biopsy on a spot, stated it was pre cancerous, scheduled me for mohs surgery and upon arrival, couldn't find the spot. It had miraculously disappeared. Which brings me to question if the other mohs surgeries were necessary. I also had another spot that was marked for biopsy (which would have been a total of 4) that they forgot to biopsy (although they charged for 4 spots). I noticed it marked and not biopsy when I went to take a shower; it also miraculously disappeared before they could schedule the biopsy. They even had pictures of the spots and couldn't find them. We have really good insurance, the platinum plan, I find it interesting that even though they are in network for the plan that the insurance barely covered 1/3rd of the costs. I received bills from several practices, it seemed all for the same thing. They have lack of communications in their office. Several times the appointment was cancelled at the last minute and then re-scheduled for a month later. One time they called me an hour before the appointment and told me they changed my appointment to be an hour earlier. Really they send out at least 4 notifications and they all have the time and dat on them. If you did that they would charge you. My wife has also had multiple issues with the practice. read more

I've been a patient here for about 8 years and have never seen Dr. Echt. I'm fine with that but it would be nice to at least see the same PA. I made my appointment for my annual cancer screening. I waited months for it and had a couple of suspicious spots I wanted looked at. I got stuck in some traffic and called to let them know that I would be 10 minutes late. The receptionist told me their policy requires me to reschedule if I'm going to be 10 minutes late. I asked if I couldn't just be fit in as I was nervous about these spots and wouldn't mind waiting. She said no and the soonest I could be rescheduled would be in January! This was at the end of May! I'll be looking for another dermatologist. They make me cancel even though I'm courteous enough to let them know that I'm running late but I've never been taken back in less than half an hour when I go. Pitiful customer service! read more

I've been coming (or, had been coming...) to this office since my early teens. Over the years, I've happily seen countless doctors, PA's, etc. I've never had an unpleasant experience. ...until now. And, unfortunately for you, Dr. Echt, one bad/horrific/awful/every adjective for "bad" experience can take away from years of good/so-so experiences. My last and most recent appointment was just that -- bad and horrific and awful -- and I'm still a bit (okay, a lot) bitter about it. Writing this review without disclosing anything too personal is proving to be difficult, but I'll carry on. Basically, the (heartless and soulless) PA verbally attacked me and emotionally broke me down. She didn't even address my concerns (you know, my concerns, like the reason I made the appointment) and if she did, they were quickly dismissed and tossed aside as "not important" or "not problematic enough." (I'm sure that last sentence isn't grammatically correct, but I don't care. I'm too upset to care.) Rather, she focused all her energy on speaking to me disrespectfully, unnecessarily scaring me and spewing lies. I actually know a little something about skincare (between my spa days and, you know, being a girl) and over half of what she told me was completely false. This leads me to believe she was just trying to scare me. Who knows why? Maybe it was about money, maybe she was on a power trip, maybe she just didn't like me...I don't really care, to be honest. The fact is, you just don't do that to your patients. Needless to say, I'm not coming back. You lost a loyal patient, Dr. Echt, and there are hard feelings. *After posting my review, I saw and read the not recommended reviews. I wish they were public. Please read them, along with my/this review, before making an appointment here. The worst! I have been a patient here for three years and have yet to meet Dr. Echt. Usually, her PA is only available and has never spent more than 5 minutes with me. During my last visit they tried to force me to use a pharmacy service they obviously are getting kick backs from. I did not feel comfortable after seeing the pharmacy's reviews but Echt's minions would not back down. This left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be returning. read more

I've had a few appointments here, in only one of which did I see Dr. Echt. The service has been courteous, efficient, and effective. I'd rate it as 5, if not for the pricing. My recent 15 minute annual visit, which entailed a 15 second freezing spray on a scalp lesion, was initially billed at $426. Insurance paid $65, and the billing agreement (collusion) between insurance and doctor paid $278, leaving me to pay $83. They are charging about $1200/hour pre-agreement, $560/hour net. My share was about $250/hour. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm in the profit-oriented health care system we've had since only the 1970s. read more

A few years ago, I decided to take control of my dermal health. Meaning- my mother had some skin cancers removed, thus prompting me to look for a dermatologist to help me combat and prevent future problems with my skin. I found Dr. Echt's office by chance- it was convenient to my office and my home. Dr. Echt's office is right off of Durant Road, close to the corner of Durant and Falls of Neuse (across from Bojangles). It is on the end of a strip mall, but you'd never know that from the zen-like interior. Muted colors and natural elements make the waiting room a pleasant place to hang out. You can schedule appointments as early as 7:45 am, which works well for an appointment before heading to the office. I went in for a cancer screen. This is not for the modest. They will strip you down naked. They will examine every square inch of your dermis looking for moles and freckles and bumps and blemishes. They do this in the most professional way possible, but I'm just sayin' you may wanna psyche yourself out a bit. I saw Julie Dodge, a bubbly PA. She found a small spot on my back that she wanted to biopsy. She did so immediately. She also gave advice and a prescription for another skin issue I was having. I felt very comfortable with Julie Dodge. I returned to see her to have the mole removed which was a piece a cake. I recommend calling months in advance to schedule a cancer screen, as these appointments are nearly impossible to get when you call. Great office. Friendly doctors. Good experiences. How about the appointment that wasn't? I waited 3 months for today. Showed up, masked up and ready. I walked in, gave my name then handed over my driver's license and insurance card. The lady at the desk then asked to take my temperature at my head. Nope, not happening. I offered my wrist, as this is an accepted form of capturing ones temperature all over the world and at schools, nope, they insisted on aiming at my head.(I would invite you all to research so you are educated for future reference) No other options were offered nor was the office manager available to speak to. She was conveniently "gone until Monday". So, a patient is to believe the only form of capturing ones temperature is to aim at another's head? Nope. This is a medical office so no one has a oral thermometer that has been used for decades? I read the reviews which many of them are not good. I chose to look beyond that and follow through with my appointment. A total waste of time, complete ignorance on behalf of this "office manager" and should have "listened" to what many others have said. read more

I have been going to this practice for over 8 years always under the care of Holly Martin. A few weeks ago I went for my appt. and arrived on time. They left me waiting in the waiting room for over one hour and this is during covid. The room had about nine patients in it all wearing a mask and they were all called in to the dr. except me. I waited, waited, and waited. I inquired at the front desk only to be told they will be with me shortly. Mind you, I am 77 yoa and kept waiting in a room with a lot of people wearing a mask. Finally when I went in I mentioned to the nurse how angry I was to be kept waiting for so long...she replied to me "you can leave now if you want." I said "why should I - that would be stupid." She replied, "yes that would be stupid."Then Holly arrives and I said to her "I am so angry." And she replied " I just walked in and you are angry." I told her about the waiting. Se treated my problem using fancy language that I could not understand and on the way out I said that I was still angry and she said to me "How would you like to wear a mask all day." I had my first appointment Thursday with Dr. Lekan for my 8 year old son. The entire staff was so nice! Service was super quick. What I mean by super quick is that they called us back before I had completed Mini Medical information. 3 painless pages not a book/novel like most places. We were in and out and I was still completing the paperwork. Prescriptions were called in directly to our pharmacy of choice before we left and we were out of the door in 30 mins!!!! I had my entire day. LOVE them and so did my son. Love the staff and they have nice clean office and bathroom. read more

My first visit with Dr. Echt's office was in 2005 after I first moved to Raleigh. The first visit required a follow-up. I never saw Dr. Echt, only her P.A. The staff was friendly enough but the original appt involved the removal of a fairly large skin cancer spot. The office said they would file the insurance which was great, or so I thought! They coded the procedure one way and BCBS said they should have coded it a different way. I had the full backing of my insurance company, but nothing I said to the office staff made a difference. They wouldn't even talk to BCBS! Due to their incompetence, I had to pay over $300.00 out of my pocket when it should have been a copay. I have avoided her office completely until now. So, I called her office last week thinking that maybe there were more experienced staff there now. I have a very prominent skin cancer on my thigh. I know because I have had 4 removed over the years. This is what I was told. "I'm sorry but we are scheduling for next Fall for full body checks." I told her that I knew this was cancer and she said "well, you can come in and we will check up to THREE places!" Ok, so she wants me to come in and they will look at 3 spots for a Specialist copay and then I'll have to wait until Fall. I will NEVER contact this poorly run, unprofessional, cold-hearted practice again! She is located in N. Raleigh, and if you are smart, you'll stay away too!! read more

I've had bad dermatologist experiences in Raleigh, but I've finally found my place of comfort. I have a history of skin cancer and was seen today for a related procedure. I saw Suzanne Deckelbaum for my first couple of visits and she was friendly, knowledgeable and I knew I was in good hands. Today I saw dr. Echt and her assistant Laurie and actually had an ENJOYABLE minor surgery (is that really a thing?!). I am pregnant, and Laurie went out of her way to make sure that I was comfortable and knew what she was doing the whole time, as there are so many things you have to avoid and be careful of while pregnant. Both she and Dr. Echt are obviously experienced and have excellent bedside manners. I prefer to be distracted during surgeries that I'm awake for, and I actually found myself giggling as we discussed my favorite things ever... Food and restaurants. Before I knew it, it was over, and I left with a few new restaurant recommendations. I have not had one negative experience in this office. The procedure was painless, and I am grateful to be cared for by skilled, caring healthcare professionals. I highly recommend. read more

This office grossly overcharges for very minor removals that could easily be done by an esthetician. The staff and PA's are not friendly nor helpful. They offer very little advice as to how to improve overall skin health and just want to get in and out of the room ASAP. My husband and I have both been patients there for a bit and have never once seen Dr. Echt. We will not be going back there again. read more

This doctors office is by far the worst I've ever been to. They rush you through like they're in a race to see how many people they can see in one day-and that's AFTER waiting 45 minutes past my appointment time, when I was 15 minutes early as instructed! Awful, awful service. 2 minutes of face time with the doctor's assistant-not even a real doctor. Then the $285 bill arrives in the mail 6 days later! Run, don't walk, away from this place! read more

HORRIBLE OFFICE!!! Very unprofessional in all aspects!! First they filed the wrong code with insurance, so something that should have been covered, was not. I am in medical and I know that it is a "courtesy" to file patient's insurance... but if you're going to file... please file correctly. I spent 4 months calling back and forth to this office and to my insurance- my insurance had no idea why they weren't covering a body check/preventative exam. After multiple calls to this office, telling them that my insurance was saying it should be covered, they threatened to send me to collections. Finally, after my insurance company called them, they realized their mistake and changed the code and it was covered. The second and final event that made me switch offices... I take Spironolactone for acne... been on it for years- none of my previous Dr's had ever recommended getting my blood work checked. Dr. Deckelbaum demanded I get blood work every 3-6 months... and really preferred 3 months. Which would have been fine except insurance didn't cover blood work this often. So after the first round of blood work, I was out of pocket almost $300.00. I can't afford $300.00 every quarter?!?! I called and asked if it could be pushed back to every 6 months- they said depending on the blood work, that might be possible. Blood work came back fine, and they scheduled me a 6 month appointment. Turns out that 6 month appointment was 4 days after my prescription ran out. About 2 weeks before the appointment I called to see if they could fit me in OR give me a prescription for an extra week. They said NO, they couldn't fit me in earlier and they refused to give me ONE WEEKS SUPPLY OF A PILL I NEEDED TO KEEP MY FACE CLEAR!!! They were rude to me on the phone and in office. I will never return and NEVER recommend anyone go to this horrible office. read more
