For both transitions, the teachers and staff were incredibly caring and helpful with easing her in. She has been through two different classrooms as she's aged up. In both cases, her teachers showed incredible love and patience. I never doubted that she was in good hands and was safe and happy. She's thrived socially and has learned so many amazing things. She regularly pipes up about something and I wonder where on earth she learned it without me - daycare! But what I love is that all of this learning takes place during play. I'm very opposed to academic setting learning at this age and Learning Steps prioritizes learning through play. She has a lot of fun during the day and comes home with adorable artwork to show. I battled the BQE to get to Park Slope from Queens for these classes - that's how good they are! The whole premise of kids playing and learning outdoors appealed to the educator in me; the one who laments the lack of play time for children in today's testing-driven world. My daughter and I truly had some of the best weeks of our lives during those classes and made some beautiful memories. Meghan was an exceptional teacher who was able to make the outdoors come alive for children. The activities designed by Tinkergarten helped children explore their surroundings, flex their imaginations, and learn deeply about themselves and their world through play. The activities were fun, engaging, and truly got you learning by getting your hands dirty! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Tinkergarten. My only regret was that our "semester" ended. It was a bittersweet end of class. My daughter still talks about Miss Meghan and remembers, vividly and fondly, all the different activities we did. An added treat to Tinkergarten is their vast collection of activities that you can find on their website (for free!!) As a working mother I don't always have time to prepare activities for my child. What I appreciate most about Tinkergarten activities is that they require minimal to no preparation. They can also be done ANYWHERE! While it's great to go on a "bell hunt" in an outdoor space where you can run around, I've also been able to use it in my small home. We've put a "compass" on our head not just at a park, but when we walk up the block to go to our nearby deli. We've also made a "magic carpet" using household items when it's raining outside. Not to mention "inexperienced" as I was told they could not handle my child and if my child "misbehaved" they felt it was "best" to seclude them from their classmates especially during play time. They actually preferred my child not to stay for after school because they claimed they didn't have staff certified to handle my child. I need childcare until 6pm isn't your "reported" operational time from 8-6pm??? but you are not able to provide that for me because majority of the teachers just want to leave early everyday. But I bet you get paid for the full hours of operation for my child from DOE anyway huh. I had to beg the teachers to inform me on what is going on and how my child's day was or how did he/ she get an open wound on there knee or a knot on their head when your supposed to be watching the kids. I noticed when other parents (Caucasian) or a male parents came by they are real chatty. Ms. Monica straight up ignored my child and I as she walked past us. That's rude because kids are innocent and the least she can do is say hello to a student new or old. People should choose a profession they love and not just be in it for a paycheck. Our time at this school has been very stressful causing us to feel treatment has been racially motivated. There are more incidents but I will not go into details because it can get pretty extensive as you can already see. If your child is anything but black or brown you will be welcomed with loving arms.

There are good teacher and bad like any other school, but one of my son's teacher was barely out of college and her brother was in my son's class. A lot of nepotism and very much a cult. My son has an IEP due to epilepsy (btw not a standar but the law to be ollowed) and they refused to honor it. And I quote "if we give your son extra time then we would have to give everyone extra time" clearly displaying their lack of understanding what an IEP is. We handed the nurse a picture of our son and details in his epilepsy. Copies enough for every teacher and staff that he would be in contact with. Two months into the trimester, not one teacher knew he had epilepsy nor received our packet. There were so many problems with this beautiful school with their hard wood decorative cut logs, newly constructed labs, fish tanks and dogs and peacocks roaming the grounds. We were lured in by the appearance but that all it was. The school is very popular so my son was crammed into a classroom with 40 students!! Very disappointed and wanted to let the principal know when we decided to leave. He rudely and unceremoniously could care less about constructive criticism and was clear that we were leaving so he had nothing to say to us. Be better human beings Kellenburg let alone Catholics.

When we were exploring local options, we knew our decision would be based on where we felt he would be 1) safe, 2) healthy and 3) loved. Everywhere we toured, we felt like he'd be safe and healthy. What set Two By Two apart was that we felt like he'd would be cared for by professionals who created genuine, authentic connections - as aunties, as kin. He was so little and our care priorities were more about him feeling seen, heard and addressed. Now that he's approaching Kindergarten, he's getting the same care while also getting support with socialization, learning emotional regulation, and the basics of academics (letter and number recognition, phonics). He has a group of close friends, uses feeling statements and is reading sight words and writing his name. All huge wins without robotic structure or impersonal instruction- which while inevitable in our school systems can wait until the elementary years. Two By Two continues to make progress in communication, family engagement and facilities. We've seen growth here and have been grateful for their request for feedback and impressed to see it implemented. Considering our care priorities and the experience that our son and we have had here, we will continue to recommend Two By Two to our neighbors and friends.

We have been SO happy with everything about our experience at TLE. As a family we have experienced 4 different age level classrooms and therefore had a number of different teachers and have loved each one. We have honestly loved every one. The teachers are all so engaged and loving and I really trust my kids are happy and in good hands each day. My oldest talks constantly about her teachers and my youngest will jump out of our arms each morning to see her teacher. They offer so many activities to keep the kids engaged, learning and having fun -- lots of reading and singing, pretend play, arts and crafts, science activities as they get older. Even my little one does multiple art projects a week in the infant room. The classrooms are big, bright, and clean. Plus there are a few additional spaces in the school (indoor playground) and another big play room that the kids all visit weekly. The kids also go outside daily if weather allows. Pre-covid they all went to the playground but now they go for neighborhood walks. I also really appreciate the communication from the teachers and the school administrators. The teachers post photos and notes all day long and are always open to questions and communication from parents. Reena (Owner) and Danyele (Educational Director) communicate often via email and also frequently set up zoom calls to be able to answer parents questions or allow the space for teachers and parents to connect. They have been so transparent and communicative all year as we navigate Covid together. Health and Safety is also a top priority at the school. Teachers are all in masks, there is no cross over between classrooms so kids interact with the same small group of kids and teachers everyday, and there are a number of other practices in place (indoor only shoes, drop off and pick up at the door, temp checks, lots of cleaning and hand washing, rotation of shared spaces like the indoor playground to allow time to clean and sanitize, etc. Overall we have been so happy with our experience at the school and are grateful for the community its connected us to.
