If you're interested in becoming a certified Phlebotomist AUMT institute is where you should go. The class times are extremely convenient, they have day, evening, and weekend courses available which makes being a mom and in school such a breeze. The instructor that I have, Lisa, prepares you in every way possible for each and every lecture, test and the national test. She is a happy, honest instructor and does not sugar coat anything. She is extremely open to any questions you have, nothing is taboo which makes being new to this field pleasant and an easy transition. The cost of the course, for me, was a little steep but to be able to complete the course in three weeks does make life much easier so it's the sacrifice you make to jump into the new field in such a short amount of time. My instructor was Lisa over at aumt it was horrible we have to stop to watch a lady Vape outside the window while Lisa narrated. I was in her class up until 3 days before the class was over I didn't learn anything. Lisa and I had a power struggle because I would not answer her question and she would not take I don't know as an answer. I left her class I didn't come back until after Thanksgiving then I went to miss Tia's class she is wonderful I have learnt more in 3 days then I didn't 3 weeks. Would like to give less than 1 star. As well would like my money back!! Had a terrible experience with the instructor Lisa. She spent most of the class time speaking of her kids, her boyfriend (who's never there supposedly due to work- after dealing with her for 3 weeks I see why) and her "mother in law" (not sure how she could have that title and he still hasn't married her) and if that's not enough her endless remarks and jokes about being drunk with as soon as she gets home with her children or the possibility of her cup in class being currently filled with alcohol. She even spent time during lab to ser up plans with a fellow student to go get drinks at the Rusty Bull. Lisa down talked other Phlebotomy institutions on a daily basis, bashing the character of the instructors as well. Consistantly bragged about not having to work hard any longer because she earned it because she worked for 6 years as a phlebotomist and taught for 6 years (she is far to full of herself) that's not long enough in my opinion to be that cocky. We had a conversation towards the end of the course in which she ended up yelling at me I front of Myra who simply sat there and watched Lisa as she was verbally attacking a PAYING student. After Lisa stormed away with her hands up refusing to let me get a word in, Myra asked if we could speak alone, she apologized and quickly tried to set up a new arrangement to finish my check off so that I may continue to pay them. Asked for something to be done about Lisa's actions and her and professionalism and all I've gotten back is that the management will have a conversation with her but they'd like to work on the next steps to get the rest of my payments. I refuse to give the school a single dollar of mine until something is done about Lisa and her attitude as well her a professional talk and actions within class and with students. I would surely prefer to simply have a refund given to me so that I may go elsewhere and continue with my Phlebotomy career. I do not wish to learn any longer in a hostile environment and I am not able to come in at night with Tia(who was just wonderful!!) as I work evenings. This happened about 3 weeks ago and I'm currently still receiving phone calls from the school trying to obtain my money rather than telling me what Justice was served for the terrible experience I had. I no longer wish to work any other deals out, I'd prefer to just have my money given back to me so I may begin schooling elsewhere. If they refuse to give me my money back, I am glad to take further action. Until then please do not give me any other call unless it's regarding my refund. As well there is a giant board in office that states if a positive review is left on Yelp for the school they will for reward you with a $5 Starbucks gift card. I'm not sure that's how Yelp works. read more

I was a little nervous at first in starting here but all that went away the first day of class. The staff is wonderful. My instructor, Linda, is amazing and I could tell right away that she wants us to succeed in this career. Don't be shy to ask questions; they answer all your questions. The visuals in the class help students understand better. Pricing is affordable. You're looking into about $2k. They offer Saturday classes for those who work on the weekdays like me. I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in this career or as an addition to your current medical experience. In addition to all the knowledge you gain, you also gain new friends. Aumt is a wonderful school with an amazing staff and a phenomenal teacher. My teacher was Lisa. She has been in Phlebotomy for years and knows her trade very well. She is extremely competent and knows how to teach a lot of material in a manner that's easy to understand and while there is a lot of material to go over in such a short amount of time she doesn't make it seem like it's over whelming. Lisa is very encouraging of her students to do well and Lisa approaches the job with the level of support and professionalism that I have not seen from a teacher in years. Wanted to share my experience with you all well ,I Started school on my birthday which was October 10 This was the best birthday present anyone could ask for as I pursue my career in phlebotomy so far so good I must say I've had the best experience overall. My teacher "Tia "is just awesome and a amazing teacher also "Regina "Is just as amazing with the both of them I've became much better at this skill .I Must admit I was very nervous did I Mention very nervous Handshaking nervous running from the needle Questioning why did I choose this? And they simply made the environment so comfortable, so relaxing for me and other classmates. This school teaches the worst techniques. The female instructor has no business teaching this since she is only a medical assistant and, therefore, does not have the experience that a full-time phlebotomist has. I work at a facility where we get these students for their clinical hours and WE HATE IT. It takes a miracle to break them of the horrible habits and techniques they acquire from this useless school. AUMT was a great school and experience. From day one we learned how to draw venipunctures. I feel very comfortable and confident after finishing the three week course. Our instructor Mrs. Linda was great. She went through material in detail and answered any questions we had thoroughly. It was also very affordable and local. Great school, but can't get a job without experience. No job placement. Was told several places are hiring without experience and that was totally untrue. Also most places want MA license along with the Phlebotomy license. The course was excellent, but I feel as though I wasted my money. I now have to go back to school another 7 months so I can utilize my Phlebotomy. Also the State took 4 months to send me my license. Can't apply anywhere without a license number. Employers will not takwe externship as experience they want paid experience at leat 1 to 2 years. read more

AUMT -American University of Medical Technology DO NOT ATTENT THIS SCHOOL !( has a faulty externship program) You may start off bright and ready to start your career in phlebotomy and the medical field but AUMT will make you want to give up on that new career by the end of their program. I wanted to become a phlebotomist because I heard all sorts of things about how great the field is , how it's not very much schooling and when your done you can get a job in a hospital making a good amount of money. I looked into many phlebotomist schools before coming across AMUT who had 3 Southern California campus's located in Ontario ,Carson,& Victorville. Their tuition price was just about the cheapest of any of the schools I had looked up .This may have worried me because why was their school was more affordable then others ?Was it because it wasn't as good . My worries really were put at ease though when I saw their web site was the most professional and well put together of any of the other schools. The web site was easy to navigate and told me all the information I needed. Also a friend of mine was attending the school at one of their campus's and said it was going well so far. What sold me on going to AMUT though was how long they said it would take to get a externship after class in order to obtain a California state license .They stated approximately 3-8 weeks .This was a lot shorter then many of the schools I had researched and I wanted to get a move on a new career as soon as possible. Very soon after I went in and signed up for the class paying my tuition in full. I then started class with a friend of mine who also decided to attend . It was a 3 week program 5 days a week ,with a lot of condensed information. The school was small but clean and it looked like they were doing more and more to it to make it look nicer. The class room I attended had old desk and was nothing great. During when I attended they were actually doing a lot of upgrades to the facility putting in new really nice desk for future class's . I was also disappointed that they did not provide us with real books just a photo copied version of a real book to put in our binders .I did love the teacher we received though she was knowledgeable ,funny, and very relatable. I heard at the other campus the teachers were not so great and did not teach many skills that our teacher was teaching to us. I did enjoy very much being in my teachers class ,I was learning a lot and doing extremely well defiantly on my way to becoming a phlebotomist . Class ended and I passed all the test with excellent marks as well as the national exam. Now all I needed to do was wait for externship ....and wait .....and wait .....AND WAIT . No one ever contacted me or my friend who attended the same class...or my friend who attended another campus or their friend (so 4 people I know of) . I waited almost 5 months before I became fed up and asked to be placed immediately or I wanted my tuition money back. I also after even a month forgot most of the knowledge I gained in class and no longer even felt comfortable having to draw from real people No one I knew had been contacted for externship in that 5 month time or even contacted in between to apologize for the wait. The only person I knew who received an externship had to complain and hassle them like crazy in order to be placed .Then I heard the horror story that when she was placed finally, she went to the externship site and first day the person that was suppose to be helping her gave her a kit and told her to go draw from people while she went to go on lunch break leaving her all alone. This was unacceptable and I would never want to have that happen to me . Only after I started to email the externship coordinator about how displeased I was did I get a response. All of a sudden she said that there was a site to send me to only problem was it was 30 miles away !!!I then asked if there was any thing closer and she said I have to wait another month or some nonsense ,then she said that she had found an externship site close to me and if I could go tomorrow emailing me this at like 4:00 pm knowing very well I needed to request time of work for externship in advance.I realized then that this school is a business and not a upright honest one .They get you in there you pay your tuition money you learn some things but you don't become a phlebotomist .I learned that becoming a phlebotomist or anything in the medical field takes a lot of guidance from people who know what they are doing and this school does not provide that If you attend this school you will not get an externship in a timely manner and maybe if you do it's because you hassled them to no end and even then it will take you forever to get placed. Yes, the cost of AUMT is less than most, and yes, the program is much shorter than most, but what good are those things if you can't get a job! In the end, the only thing that will help you get a job in this field is if you know someone who can get you in or you already have past medical experience. This is how it goes... (At least for me) you take the program for 3 weeks. You come to class every day, work your butt off, memorize almost everything in the book, get good scores on all the daily tests, and when you go to take the National Exam...BARELY ANY OF THE STUFF YOU LEARNED IN THE CLASS IS ON THE EXAM!! In the last couple of days of the program they give you practice exams, one of which is a practice exam from the company that administers the test. 90% of what you need to know on the exam, you will learn from taking that practice test. So really only 10% of the time you spend in the class is NOT a waste. Finally, let's say you finish that class and pass the test in August...you will not do you externship until around NOVEMBER! Just enough time for you to forget most everything and then look like an A** when you go for your externship. This obviously is not going to help you get a job that is already almost IMPOSSIBLE to get! Then once you finally finish the program it takes you about 6 weeks to 2 months to get your state License. AUMT has a day class, evening class, and a weekend class with about 8 students in each class that starts over every 3 weeks. DO THE MATH...that's 24 people looking for the same job as you every 3-5 weeks. IF you're lucky...you may get a job 6 months to a year from the date you got your license....IF YOU'RE LUCKY. In the end...it's a big waste of time and money. read more

Sooo...all I can really say about this school, is that it's AAWESOOME!!!! Lol our instructor Mrs. Torres was amazing! I loved how she just went into details about everything! Answered all our questions! Was there right next to us while we were practicing our blood draws. Overall, the whole class experience was great! It isn't that hard. All you have to do is just STUDY!!
