Awesome little place! It is part of a larger market with a few different food venues. We went for lunch before 2:00 tickets at Frida kahlo, and this was the only place open at 12:00. Got the special which was a couscous dish and a quinoa burger. Also had the fruit water with kiwi, lemon, and mint. That was phenomenal. read more

This place hit the spot! The soap aura was just what my upset stomach needed. Tasted amazing and warmed my tummy and soul up. The spring rolls were light and the hot sauce they came with hit the spot. I even put some of the hot sauce in the sopa and it really added some kick. Yum! I go the zucchini sandwich and it was pretty tasty although a little lacking in flavor. three fries was kind of disappointing too and they weren't really cooked that well but nevertheless I enjoyed it. My friend got the ramen and the broth that I sipped down was so good! If you go here definitely get the sopa aura, spring rolls and the ramen. Those dishes will do you well! read more

(Also a benefit if your vegan and your friends aren't!) BUT Aura Vegana was clutch. Really enjoyed the creativity in each dish (YES I ATE HERE MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE WEEK!) I wanted to support this business, as it's a vegan business trying to survive during Covid. But I have to agree with the reviewer below that was surprised at the positive reviews. We've been eating at all the other vegan places across CDMX: Los Loosers, Veguisima, Vegamo, and at least 4 or 5 others, which have all been phenomenal and bursting with flavor. So while we were in Coyaoacan, of course we wanted to support Aura. It was 5 of us, and almost everything was terrible and lacked any semblance of flavor. I should have known when they started us off with the complimentary bread and "tofu cheese". I love tofu, but anyone experienced with tofu knows you have to give it flavor for it to taste like anything. It was as if they just blended the tofu and served it like that. My mom got the enchiladas. The red sauce was straight up tomato paste. Horrendous. How do you even do that in Mexico? My dad got the pesto pasta, which was somewhat decent but we had to ask for salt and pepper to flavor it. This was a trend throughout. Nothing had added flavor to it, not even salt. And we are not heavy salt eaters by any means. I ordered the quinoa burger with portobello caps. The portobello was cooked nicely, but the burger and added grilled veggies had literally no flavor. It was pretty gross. They just slapped together quinoa into the form of a patty. The papas on the side were undercooked and again, no flavor. My brother got the taquitos which actually were decent, but they sprinkled vegan cheese that had absolutely no flavor. It's like they decided to open up a vegan place and cook a bunch of veggies with no training in how to make anything flavorful. If you're into zero flavor in your food, this is the place for you. read more

This little vegan gem is in a relatively new looking food-court building with loads of "alternative" offerings. Aura features a nice big window on the sidewalk and a multilingual server who is dying to practice her English and Italian (and maybe other languages!) with her patrons. The menu is amazing - I ordered the taquitos stuffed with hibiscus leaves and the mushroom burger. It was way too much food (my fault!) Most of the food was quite delicious and reasonably priced though the side potatoes with my sandwich were overly dry and not very tasty. I'm confused by the high rating. We had a burger, spring rolls, and fried rice and none were good. The fried rice tasted off, like something in it had spoiled. My husband had a few bites but that's all he could stomach. The burger was bland as can be. I asked for ketchup or hot sauce and was brought literal tomato juice and some kind of oil. I ate as much as I could bear to because I was starving. The fries were also dry and flavorless. They tasted old. The spring rolls were supposed to come with peanut sauce. Instead they were brought with a ramekin of what tasted like straight up old vinegar. When we asked about it, the waitress just said they were out of peanut sauce. So maybe warn people before they order it?? No one wants a spring roll filled with lettuce and carrots (no tofu) and a side of vinegar. The worst part was when I went to use the restroom. The women's restroom didn't have a working toilet, and also no sign to warn people. Just a filled, non-functioning toilet. I went next door to the men's room, which stank to high heaven and ALSO didn't have a working toilet. For added bonus, everything was wet. How could a restaurant with dirty, non-functioning restrooms have good hygiene in the kitchen if this is the restroom the staff uses? I'm not so sure. This was certainly a mar on the otherwise stellar dining experience we've had in CDMX, and one we wish to forget. read more
