What a beautiful place. Well maintained paths. Kind walkers, runners and cyclists on the trail. And PLENTY to see. I have moved about 40 minutes away so I can't go that often anymore but still enjoy my time there when I do go. The reservoir itself is nice. During the summer, you can see people chilling on the sand, riding boats, paddle boarding, walking around, biking, etc. It really is a nice spot to just relax. I see some people swimming in the water which I personally wouldn't do. It does get very crowded during the summer. The bathrooms are what you would expect from a state park bathroom. Parking is plentiful there and you can find it all around the reservoir. If you have the state parks pass through your vehicle registration, you definitely should by the way, you can get in "for free".

There was plenty of parking available that time of day. This reservoir not only has a swim beach, but many other activities as well such as, boating including a marina with boat rentals, fishing, camping, 35 miles of hiking trails, an off leash dog park & even a shooting range. Note, In renewing my car registration I purchased the Keep Colorado Wild Pass for $29, that covers entrance fees for all the state parks in Colorado for one year. If you don't have the pass, prices are $10-$12 per day with Colorado plates. There was a little bit of a walk from the parking lot to the water. On our way there we passed by available life jackets if you need them & bathrooms. This reservoir & beach were big. It had a pretty view of the city & mountains in the distance. The beach was nice, it was sandy & the water felt great, just a little cool getting in. There were some rocks in the water to look out for, so water shoes might be a good idea. I didn't like the "green seaweed stuff" floating around in spots & the wasps in some areas where the beach edge meets the water. There was very little shade near the water too. Next time we will bring a pop up canopy tent. However, there are some really big shade trees away from the water. I'm looking forward to visiting again!

The manager admitted to handling my boat without my consent or knowledge and that it was his right to do so. Owner and manager have refused to compensate for the damages after several months of back and forth emails. Owner tried to get his insurance to pay for the damage but I'm assuming was denied since he has not responded to me for several months. Manager stated they are not responsible for damage to vessel - even if they were the last to handle the boat. First, this is not written into the mooring agreement and if it were, this would be deemed unconscionable. Just absurd.

Their first concert after covid was terrible. I didn't attempt to order food, as I could hear everyone complaining that they ordered food an hour an half ago, and still had received it yet. This was the first time they ever had an opening band-which was terrible. At 8pm we left and the band (we bought tickets for) hadn't started to play yet. I contacted Pelican Bay and asked for a refund, or credit b/c they advertised the Buckstiend was starting at 7pm, at 8pm they still weren't on stage. I get this was the first concert of the season, and there were hiccups, which is why I was okay with credit. They never responded to my request-just ignored me, so I challenged the charge with my credit card company, I am not sure why they are surprised, I did contact Pelican Bay first on two separate occasions. I am now banned from their facility and being refunded, not for the Buckstein tickets I purchased, but for the upcoming concert tickets, I already purchased tickets for. WOW, seems a little over the top, they could have just called me back or responded to my email, and apologies for the kinks. I feel like Erik is a 13-year girl, and I am her mother who just told her, her skirt was too short.

She made us feel safe and comfortable from the very beginning, and gave clear instructions so we always knew what to do. She tailored our ride to how "spicy" we wanted to make it, so since it was our first time rafting, that made us feel great. The trip was the perfect level of excitement for us as beginners. It was fun, thrilling, and adventurous without ever feeling overwhelming. My sons, ages 10 and 13, had an absolute blast and want to plan another trip back. We even got to see a bald eagle along the river, it was phenomenal. The weather was perfect, and the whole experience was incredibly well organized. It's also just under two hours from Denver, making it a great day trip. We really appreciated the free parking, and they kept our car keys safely in the office while we were out on the river. We felt completely comfortable leaving everything else locked in our car. We couldn't have asked for a better first rafting experience. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone, especially families and first-time rafters. Definitely opt for the photo package too - the pictures we received were stunning and memorable. Confluence Park encompasses the point where Cherry Creek flows into the South Platte River. This is…read morealso the spot where Denver was founded in May 1858. Beginning a city here proved to be a poor choice as the waterways were prone to periodic flooding. The City shifted to the northeast and this area was ignored and filled up with heavy industrial users. A huge flood in 1965 destroyed much of that infrastructure and provided an opportunity for redevelopment. The Greenway Foundation was a prime mover in the 1970s to create a park highlighting this area. A major update in the 1990s focused on floodplain management and further enhanced the park as a hub for the regional trail system. Today this is a highlight of Lower Downtown. Shoemaker Plaza begins at the REI building and extends down to the north edge of the South Platte River. The main park area begins at the south edge of the River and covers both sides of Cherry Creek. The trail system runs through this and continues north, south, and east. This is a beautiful space and exists in its own world, apart from the bustle of Lower Downtown. It is well worth a visit.

I love the dead and barren trees in November, we don't get that in California and paired with the cold, it feels weirdly nostalgic of something I've never had and warming on the inside (yes, I'm insane). I also passed by a lot of joggers and dog walkers in the mid morning. Very safe. I passed by 2 small lakes with some water fowl nearby, standard mallard ducks and Canadian geese. Very calming. Saw a couple squirrels too. Not a bad medium sized city park.

Crowd The crowd depends on when you go and if there is an event happening. It was not crowded at all on the day we went because we went during the week. However, I know during certain times of the year they have jazz in the park and it gets super packed. Most of the time, everybody pretty much minds their own business or they are friendly, but if you go for an event, you should plan ahead accordingly. Price: This location is completely free to go to since there is no park entrance fee or anything. Even the jazz in the park events are free and really neat, which makes it a great spot if you are looking for a nice place that is laid-back and free to enjoy. Parking and Transportation: There are plenty of places to park during a normal day, but when we went to jazz in the park during the summer, it did take some time to find a spot. You should make sure to show up early so that you can find parking. If you live a little bit away, you might want to take an Uber, or you can just walk or ride your bike if you live close enough. Overall Experience: My husband and I went right before sundown to do a picnic and painting date that also served as a photo shoot. We had someone set this up for us and we paid for it, so it was very convenient because we just showed up and followed their instructions. It was a great time to go because it wasn't very busy and the lighting was perfect. I think it is a good spot to have a photo shoot or a cute picnic date because it has such a romantic feel to it. We had a really fun time and I highly recommend this place.

So there's an awesome petting zoo and train that you can pay to enjoy but the rest of the park is just as incredible. There's a shallow creek that runs the length of the park. It's honestly one of the best places for kids to just free play safely in the summer. Lots of great trees for parents to chill under while the kids enjoy the water. It's a perfect picnic spot for sure. Go make a day of it! There's also a traditional playground near the petting zoo and train station. My kids said the water is cold but on a hot day, it's the perfect activity. There are restrooms as well. There's some covered seating with picnic tables but it's just easier to bring a nice blanket and find a tree to camp under (or bring some outdoor chairs). We did the petting zoo recently too. It's $3 per person for the petting zoo for anyone over the age of 2. Same price for the train. You can do one and not the other. Tickets can be purchased on site or online. They give you one token per ticket for each activity. So you can only go through the petting zoo once and take the train once on a paid ticket. The petting zoo has cows, pigs, a duck, goats, alpacas, chickens, etc. It's fairly small, but a good way to expose city kids to sweet tempered farm animals. My kids loved the train! It does a nice big loop around the park. And the best part is the tunnel you go through at the end. The train is also beautiful - pretty green, shiny train. I would say the only down side is parking. I've ended up parking at the Pirates Cove area both times I've gone. There's simply not enough spots. Go early in the morning if you want to enjoy otherwise you might be completely out of luck.
