I can't say enough good things about our experience with Liquid Descent. My daughter and I signed up for the beginner rafting trip... and while she was excited... I was terrified. I was so nervous walking in, but from the moment we arrived, every single staff member made us feel welcomed, safe, and supported. Our guide, Koa, was the perfect balance of fun, kind, and incredibly skilled. He guided us through the rapids with such confidence and ease while also making sure everyone felt safe and included. He checked in on us several times throughout and made sure we were having fun, asked us if we wanted to "spice it up" a bit or keep it mellow and just really let us know this was "our" trip and he's cater to what we wanted. I quickly found myself letting go of fear and enjoying the moment... something I didn't expect would happen. Koa's energy was contagious, and his calm, respectful nature made us feel like we were in the best hands possible. At one point on the river, another rafting company had a mishap and we had to pull over and wait for them to recover and get their riders back into the raft safely. Koa explained what had happened with total grace - no judgment, no gossip - just a calm and respectful explanation. He also spoke so kindly of his own coworkers and even the owner of Liquid Descent. You could tell he genuinely cares about the rafting community and takes pride in his work and LOVES his Liquid Descent family! Every employee we encountered was friendly, encouraging, and helpful - from getting us fitted with helmets and life jackets to cheering us on as we headed out. As someone who started out nervous, that kind of supportive vibe made a huge difference. They encouraged me, and they helped me push past my comfort zone in the best way possible. What a GREAT memory! We will remember this day not only for the thrill of the rapids, but for the kindness and heart of the people who guided us through it! If you are considering rafting in Colorado, go with Liquid Descent. I'm so glad we did!

First time rafters, and LD and their amazing crew delivered! Class III/IV rapids out of the Idaho Springs area - highly recommended! Ask for Ben, our guide. He was awesome!!! Hack - go on one of the early rafts, like the 8:30 or 9:00, easier parking and often the weather is nicer!

Well organized, with a nice base camp, skilled guides, & great water. If you want a more challenging and exciting trip, book for mid-June when the snow melt rushes down from the mountains in earnest. Don't flinch at the wet suit you'll need to wear - that snow melt is cold - and pay the extra $5 for the neoprene booties if you don't already own a pair. It's worth it. Our guide Ben knew his shit. Once upon a time I trained as a guide in WV. Ben navigated every hazard with practiced skill. I know just enough to know a skilled guide and he's one. I'm sure he's not alone. We did the intermediate trip with big spring water. If you come later in the year when the snow melt is complete, you'll likely have smaller rapids. That's just nature. Plan ahead. Constriction, obstruction, gradient, & flow create whitewater. That spring melt is flow. I was impressed by this place and I'll be back.

What an experience! This was my first time and I was very nervous, as was my teen as well. Kao was amazing and comforting. He would ask us what we were ok with and gave us a little bit of a history lesson down then river. Hands down a great experience!

I had wanted to try this for years, and we finally made it happen. We were a group of 17 people, and our organizers had chosen the intermediate rapids. I watched multiple YouTube videos and reached out to other friends who had rafted in California to prepare myself and quell my nerves. Overprepared, much? Once we arrived, I was immediately out at ease. We were issued wetsuits, helmets, and lifejackets. We all piled onto a bus and taken to our entry. Our guide Christoph was very knowledgeable and personable. He gave us the safety speech, some guidelines for possible emergency situations, and quizzed us on strokes before we even entered the cold water. He seemed to be a lead guide because there were several times we would pull over and wait for the other groups to ensure that we were all together. He gave commands clearly and we tackled the swells. And I'm proud to say that not a single one of our rafts had anyone capsize, have to swim, or need rescue! If you want to get EXTRA wet, make sure you are one of the two paddlers up front; conversely, if you want to stay "drier" (that word deserves quotations because you will get soaked), take up the back two spots. And a word of advice to anyone who wants warm feet: spare no expense and rent the shoes.

I've rafted with Liquid Descent multiple times, and every single trip has been a 5-star experience! The guides are not only experts at keeping you safe, but they also make sure you have an unforgettable time on the river. This year, I went early season on Clear Creek and loved it so much I came back late season for Gore Canyon- an adrenaline-packed, fun adventure! The day started with a swim test to make sure everyone was prepared before tackling Class V rapids. (Honestly, if you're not a strong swimmer, this trip isn't for you, they do test your swimming in the rapids and throughout the trip over half of the people across our 5 rafts ended up in the water at some point! Additionally this would be quite the dive into the deep end if you've never rafted before!) The trip was an incredible mix of thrills, skill, and crazy beautiful scenery you would not have guessed was there when you drive into Kremmling. Midway through, we stopped for snacks, and when we wrapped up, the crew served a delicious lunch and cold beers (NA options were there too!) such a nice touch after a big day! What sets Liquid Descent apart is the crew. Every guide I've had has been dedicated to making the trip special. I've talked to them and many of them have said they specifically choose to work here because of the company's extra training and the sense of community. I even met the owner yesterday at Gore Canyon, and you can tell the company's passion for customer experience comes directly from the top. Specifically the last 2 guides I've had, Jordan and Malia have been awesome! Yes, most rafting companies use the same put-in/take-out points and similar gear but the experience is what makes the difference. With Liquid Descent, the guides make sure it's the best it can be and their love for their job ensures you're going to have a great time. I've rafted with other companies in locations where liquid descent isnt and know: the right guide changes everything. If you're looking for an unforgettable rafting trip in Colorado, Liquid Descent is the company to go with!

First time water rafting and it was an amazing experience. Our guide, Isabelle, was awesome and so fun to be with. She made sure to "innocently" get us as wet as possible for a beginner ride. I am so glad we signed up for this and highly recommend the photo package. They were so professional and fun to be with along the entire journey. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a great me

My friend came to Colorado for a visit and was excited to go white water rafting. I hadn't done this before and was a bit nervous, but opted in. We decided to do the beginner level, with class II and III rapids. What an amazing time!!! Kyle, our guide, was fantastic! I appreciated how he broke up the instructions into three groupings: putting on gear, safety, and how to maneuver the raft. Mellisa, our driver, was super friendly. I can't wait to go back!

Andrew and Justin were great guides for our beginner's adventure on the Colorado River. They made everyone feel at ease and made sure we all had a great time. It was a stunning ride, and definitely easy for everyone. If you want a more challenging ride, they can do those as well.

Tours times fill up quickly and you can also book tours online. You start the tour by watching a video that gives you a history of the tunnel and mill. The Argo Mill and Tunnel became an international center of milling and tunneling innovation and served for many gold mines in Colorado. Construction of the Argo Tunnel began in 1893 and lasted 10 years until it reached Central City 4.2 miles away. The Argo Mill was a state of the art facility providing the latest technological advancements in milling and situated at the mouth of the mighty tunnel. On January 19th, 1943, a catastrophic flood in the tunnel caused the Argo Mill and Tunnel to cease operations. Then we loaded on a shuttle and took a short ride to the mouth of the Argo Tunnel. We start by picking up safety equipment including a helmet. Walking through the tunnel itself is like going back in time, it's cool, damp, and feels like stepping into another era. Then we moved to the Mill itself that had many original equipment items still on site. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared so many interesting details about how the mine operated, the hardships miners faced, and how important the Argo was to Colorado's development. The guide explained each piece of machinery and the purpose along with an explanation for any missing equipment. You can tell he is passionate about preserving the history. The museum area is well done and adds great context after the tour. After the tour, perused the gift shop and got some great souvineers for 50% off! Highly recommend for families, visitors, or anyone looking to learn something new while exploring the mountains. It's a perfect stop if you're passing through Idaho Springs, especially if you enjoy history, geology, or unique local experiences.
