This was one of the hardest places to deal with that I've ever experienced. I don't know how they run their business the way they do. It started when I was just trying to get a quote. I called in, told them what I was trying to get done, and they said they needed a photo of the item to give out a quote. Fair enough, I emailed off the photo, didn't hear anything for 48 hours. Called back 2 days later, asked if they got the quote, someone said oh someone else handles that, she'll give you a call back soon. Waited till the next day, no call. I called back again, got the owner who picked up, he apologized for the delay and said they could have it done in a day if I dropped it off. So, I dropped it off at 8am the next morning, the front door was locked, but one of the yard workers took my info on a sticky note and posted it on the desk inside and said they would call me. No call that day or the next. I called back 2 days later, got the owner again and he said he would have it done next day. Great, so I drive over again to pick it up, arrive at 8am. Again no one is there except the yard workers. It hadn't even been started yet. They were nice enough to just get going on it for me, said it'd be 10-15 minutes and that someone would be there soon to help me. An hour and 15 minutes of waiting later someone shows up and tells me they're working on it now and apologized again. After 2 and a half hours of waiting I finally get it in my hands. 1st, if you post you're open at 7:30, be there at 7:30 not 9:30, or at least answer the phone. 2nd, don't quote something you can't promise. I was getting just sandblasting done, no painting, shouldn't have been that hard. 3rd, I gave 2 stars instead of 1 cause the guy was nice and apologetic, and they did get it done with me waiting there (after over 2 hours of waiting), but theres no way I'll get work done there in the future if I need to call 5+ times to even get answers or a quote. read more

We outsourced to Aus-Tex to customize a couple of vending machines for a launch party our company was having and this team was incredibly helpful. They offered us a great price, did an awesome job of staying in constant communication about color options, updates, and questions they had on specifics about the work we were wanting to have done. The staff was great too! Very friendly and helpful- even staying until 10:30pm one night to allow us to retrieve a piece we needed and had left behind earlier in the day. Overall, we were thoroughly pleased with our experience. My only complaint was that the plexiglass of our vending machines was a bit scratched up once it was returned to us, however, we delivered the machines to them in the packaging they were shipped in, so it's possible the machines may have already been scratched up before the custom paint work had begun. They did a great job on our patio furniture. Chairs, a chaise lounge, and table that belonged to my husbands grandmother. Aus-Tex kept me posted on the furniture when it was running late. They've also offered to come touch up some of the smudges/dings in the paint that happened during delivery. Great people to work with! read more

I love this place! So far they have sandblasted and painted a 50 year old glider and old, cast-aluminum decorative pieces for the house. The work is excellent and the price is very reasonable. The cast-aluminum pieces were finished quickly. The glider took quite a bit longer, but fortunately I wasn't in a rush. And the folks at Aus-Tex Sandblasting kept me informed of what was going on. Now they are working on 5 more chairs and a table. I am looking forward to seeing the results. These guys know their stuff. And they are incredibly friendly, to boot. Aus-Tex Sandblasting defines what I love about small business owners. Its a family owned and managed business that takes care of business. I met them back in 2004 when I had about 100 linear ft of railing sandblasted, primed and painted by them. The railing was for our new home and I had made the railings myself and wanted them done perfectly. They did all that and more at the best pricing I could find at the time. Now almost 10 years later, the railings are in great condition. I have had to do only minor touch ups over the years, mainly due to bumps and scrapes from our own use. I called them today hoping they were still in business as I am in the process of adding railing and our patio furniture needs to be re-done. Of course they are still in business only now the daughters that I remember running around the shop in 2004 are in office mgt positions. Very unprofessional. I've used Aus-Tex on several occasions and was happy with their work except for the fact that they were fairly heavy handed with the blasting. I called the proprietor, Neville, with a very important and delicate job on a Thursday to schedule blasting for the following Monday. They weren't able to do it on Monday and then commenced with a slew of excuses each day for not being able to work on my parts. Finally they scheduled me for Saturday at 8:30am- I waited for the parts for 4 hours and they still could not get to them. I asked the owner why they continued to string me along for the entire week and he replied with several expletives and I decided to remove my parts and look elsewhere. There are other great alternatives in Austin! read more

I called Aus-Tex Sandblasting to inquire about fixing a cast iron sausage press from the 1900s I ended up with that someone who knows nothing of cast iron decided to paint. I left a voicemail and, though he was taking a personal day away from the site, Paul got back to me immediately to talk about the press. He went over what I needed to look for as far as what had actually been coated onto it to ensure he could do the best job, and he was able to fit the job in within 48 hours (something I wouldn't expect from any industry 11 days from Christmas). The drive to the site was remarkably quick (helps living in South Austin) and even though I showed up to drop it off at an unscheduled time that was convenient for me Paul immediately greeted me and took the time to get the process underway for me to leave it in his hands & head to work. The icing on the cake were the instructions he had for me as far as how to treat & care for the press after the process to fight against the natural oxidation that occurs so that I can get the longest life possible out of it. This is an incredibly friendly, professional & knowledgeable company that I will use & recommend as often as possible. read more

When I called Aus-Tex for an estimate for sandblasting a vintage child's metal peddle car, Eric invited me to bring it down so he could look at it. He was so pleasant and helpful over the phone that I took him up on it. The shop was easy to find. Eric greeted me like I was a great customer of his. His approach was genuine and friendly. He said Noe, who would be doing the work, would love to take care of the car. Though the boss wasn't in when I was there, he gave me a rough estimate for the sandblasting and said something about them painting it also. The painting was a little out of my budget, but they came back to me with a special deal if I was okay with them using the leftover industrial paint that was close to the original color. He texted me the color, and I said that would be awesome. After it was painted he texted me a picture of what it looked like. I was amazed! Noe had done such a nice job on it that I had to go find him and thank him for such a great job! It was such a pleasure to work with Eric and Noe that if I ever have any kind of job like that again, I will certainly bring it to Aus-Tex!
